Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and six division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999 — the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 72 times to date.

My night at the Mapleleaf game.

by Maple bigsley on 2024-02-16Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I enjoyed my evening at the Scotiabank Arena. some nice people sitting next to me on both sides had some nice chats. The least played a really strong game and the beer was good. The only criticism I have and it’s for every live event and has been for years. Everything costs way too much .People get soaked , I got a selfie ticket so that was reasonable. But if you don’t most people can’t afford it.

    Great time

by Nikki on 2024-02-13Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I took my boys to their first leafs game. They had an absolute blast. The boys were given lanyards with their first game tag on it from a worker at the arena. That made their night.

    Could be better fan experience

by JetsFan on 2024-01-28Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Watched my team (Winnipeg Jets) in Toronto. The experience bot inside and outside the arena was mediocre. 3 nights later I was at Roger's Arena in Vancouver and would rate their fan experience 5 star in comparison.

    Great show but poor accessibility

by Some guy on 2024-01-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The game and the show were amazing. My dad throughly enjoyed it. However there is only one accessible washroom on 300 and one on 100. Those are the levels with accessible seats. Also because there aren't enough regular washrooms available you have people lining up for the accessible washroom that don't actually need it. Definitely need to do more for our aging guests and others that need accessible washrooms.

Leafs won 7-0, More physical during the 1st period but period 2-3 felt pretty slow as the Leafs were playing really well.

    Daughter’s first game.

by Neil on 2023-12-04Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

My daughter, her boyfriend and I loved watching the Leafs beat the Kraken on penalties after a super-tense game. A great experience for my daughter’s first game.

    Leafs game

by jm on 2023-12-01Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Leafs games are always fun. Everyone there is a fan of hockey and every goal or save is boo’ed or celebrated which makes strangers feel like friends you wish you’ve known for years lol. I have friends working at SBA and they were right about leafs games where most, or everyone, loves hockey and there’s much less people that are there for the experience of going to a game….leafs games remind me so much of going to music festivals where you just feel like you belong there no matter how long you’ve been a fan of the team, or of the sport

    The worst seats imaginable

by Sp on 2023-11-08Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The seats I paid $140 each for, said obstruct view. Which I’ve seen before but there wasn’t a real obstruction. This time, I couldn’t see half of the one end of the ice or the net. Very disappointed
