BACHMAN & TURNER IN CONCERT:

Canadian classic rock heroes Bachman & Turner are back on the road in 2014, treating fans to marathon sets of nostalgic hits like "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and "Let It Ride." The duo rose to international superstardom in the '70s as Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and although they've dropped the "overdrive" from their name in the new millennium, they haven't lost any of their hard-charging spark. Amid rumors that they'll be performing their seminal 1974 album Not Fragile end-to-end on their 2014 tour dates, gearheads from coast to coast are lining up for a chance to catch these legends in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After rising to prominence with The Guess Who in the '60s, guitarist Randy Bachman formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive with singer Fred Turner in the early '70s. While their eponymous 1973 debut album was a moderate success, it was sophomore album Bachman-Turner Overdrive II that really put them on the map, generating huge sales in the US and Canada thanks to hit singles "Taking Care of Business" and "Let It Ride." Third album Not Fragile was an even bigger success, topping the Billboard 200 and producing classic rock standard "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." Reunited in 2010 as Bachman & Turner, the duo continue to record and tour, with a handful of highly anticipated appearances scheduled for 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"...Bachman and Turner rocked out...these two guys are still fantastic after all these years. Turners voice is so authentic and Randy's guitar playing is unbelievable.”

"These guys have gotten better with age. The show was outstanding! Music played just like you remember and the crowd was on their feet!"

"...one heck of a great concert. Randy played that guitar ..... Just WOW. His vocals were perfect. Turner played great... They looked like they were having fun and the crowd responded with standing ovations."

    Bachman & Turner Still Rocks

by RazorRae on 2011-10-03River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

The October 1st. Bachman & Turner concert at the River Rock was an outstanding performance by the Veteran Canadian Rockers. This was the loudest and heaviest Rock Show I've seen in a long time. Randy and Fred were in perfect voice and the musicianship flawless. From the first song, Roll on Down the Highway to Takin"Care of Business, people had rushed the stage and danced the entire show. I highly recommend seeing B&T before they retire from the road. If last Saturdays performance was any indication, these boys have lots of good rocking left in them. The only down side, with their catalog being so large, they could have played another 30-40 minutes. Their new song Slave to the Rhythm and oldies Shakin'All Over and Prairie Town would have been great to hear live again. Keep on Rocking, RazorRae

    Paul Rodgers-ultimate singer/songwriter/performer!

by SZee on 2011-10-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

With all the concerts coming to Calgary lately, I had to be selective in which ones I wanted to attend. I kept concert details in the back of my mind, and tried to win tickets, but that never happened. I decided to attend only 1 hour before the concert started-something was just telling me to go. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw 1 ticket left in Row BBB! Bachman and Turner opened the show, and proved that they can still rock with the best of them. They can still crank out those notes and the guitars were spot on!Then Paul took command of the stage! His voice is simply amazing! Whether he played the piano, harmonica, acoustic guitar or tambourine, he was a master at his craft. His set included all the Free and Bad Company favorites. He is in amazing shape for a 62 year old rocker! It was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and I attend many! Throughout the concert, I chatted with the lady beside me, who it turns out is Paul's neighbor. She told me all kinds of stories about he and Cynthia, his wife. At the end of the concert she asked me if I would like a pass backstage to meet him!! So off we went to the green room. We waited, and chatted with Cynthia and some of the band, but it turns out, Paul wasn't feeling well, and wasn't going to show. I still consider myself fortunate even though I didn't meet him, to get a small insight into the life of a rock star through my new friend. If I hadn't decided last minute to attend the concert, I would have missed this great opportunity to hear this music icon!!

    These old dogs still rock!!

by MrZigzag on 2011-10-03River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

I remember the Guess Who from Cross Canada Bandstand - live from Winnipeg...very important band growing up in Canada - everything from Albert Flasher to American Woman...then came BTO...as Randy Bachman said...knowing the words to Taking Care of Business should be a Canadian citizenship test question. Randy Bachman and Fred Turner can both play and sing...they both WAIL!!! (as we used to say) and were very much a crowd pleaser...lots of classics...a few new songs...loud enough and proud enough...straightforward rock and roll...great act at the best rock room in BC

Outstanding... unbelievable... great... loved this show. Fred Turner still has his voice and can rock 'em like the best, and Randy Bachman's guitar riffs are amazing!! What a great show, perfect venue... perfectly Canadian!! (Good Canadian band... goes into the corner, comes out with the puck every time!)

    Bachman Turner with Paul Rodgers

by Harrington on 2011-10-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

One of the best double bills I have ever seen. Great guitar work by Randy and unbelievable vocals from Fred Turner. Very polished show from Paul Rodgers and band. I loved it but I noticed a few people around me leaving after the second show progressed and I think it was because the sound level was very loud. Great show however. No complaints.

B&T warms up for the Paul Rogers Show

by GEddy on 2011-10-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

There is a reason that B&T opened first and let their guest artist go second. It's because Paul Rogers and his back-up band are better musicians and entertainers. Not to take anything away from Randy and Fred though- they are still pretty darned good and Fred's voice is still as powerful as ever. Kudos to them for recognizing Paul's strength and allowing him to close the show. The 20% of the already sparse audience that left after B&T missed a great show by Paul Rogers.

Great to see that the "old" guys can still rock! I brought my family to the concert and they all loved the show, good job guys, you still got it!

Bachman Turner were fantastic but I would have like them to have played longer - Paul Rogers was anti-climactic in my view although being fair, I was there to see Bachman play guitar!!!!

Bachman & Turner were very entertaining

by LifelongRocker on 2011-10-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Randy Bachman is still the pre-eminent Canadian guitar god - he hasn't lost a note. Their band was tight, sound mix was good, and they had the crowd going. I only hope that the next tour might be BTC - Bachman, Turner and Cummings. We should have left after their set. Paul Rodgers band came on late and unfortunately brought stacks of amplifiers suitable for a large arena, and then played them at excessive volume levels AND miked them through the P.A., with the result that his vocals had no separation, were totally muddied and were completely unintelligible. A large percentage of the crowd left during his set, leaving mainly his die-hard fans who already knew all of the words to his songs. Based on this concert, I would not pay to see this incarnation of Paul Rodgers again.

    Bachman & Turner didn't disappoint!

by babs0509 on 2011-10-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Awesome concert with a selection of new but mostly oldies from BTO. Randy Bachman doesn't disappoint ever, he's a perfectionist with his music. They only performed for about and hour, came back for an encore and standing ovation. Audience engaged right from the beginning! Once Bachman & Turner left the stage, the lights came up and everyone left. No announcement that it might have been an intermission--we assumed Paul Rogers was a no-show (as did many others), so we left. If i had it my way, I would have had Paul Rogers first and Bachman on next. Not likely anyone can end an evening the way Randy Bachman can with his Takin Care of business.

    Well worth the price

by Bodine on 2011-10-02Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Excellent Show! But get there early to see Bachman and Turner, as they are the ones worth seeing. Both Bachman and Turner were outstanding, and Turner can still really belt out a tune! Paul Rodgers, although he has an unbelievable voice... his music has very little soul. Bottom line... if you have a chance to see Bachman and Turner, don't miss it.

BT and Paul Rodgers. Not a good night !

by KevBird on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Not good Im aftraid Ive seen Randy several times before and his performance with Turner was very sub par. They were having issues with their sound system (exemplified by roadies swapping amps etc in the middle of numbers. Not a memorable performance except for the poor sound quality. EVEN worse ! was Paul Rodgers His performance and that of his band was very slick and tight and he played all the classics I had come hoping to see. What completely ruined it was that the sound volume was cranked FAR to high for the venue. Before he was more than a few bars into his first song people on Balcony 2 where I was got up and began to leave, some holding hands over ears. We stuck it out for about four songs before it became too much for my wife and we left I was particularly sad to hear him singing Shooting Star on the TV in the reception area. Really ! I am a huge fan and was really looking forward to the performance, Also Ive been to see dozens of bands and artists at the Jubillee before and NEVER had any complaints about the volume before. I expect a rock artist to be loud but this was well out of the norm. Met friends on the way out who ALL said the same thing.

    Randy and Fred still rock!!

by AngusMacDhuie on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Randy and Fred have still got the touch and deliver some very solid rock to their fans. Randy's guitar work was stellar and Fred's voice is still as distinctive as it was at the height of BTO's career. Audience participation with "Takin' Care of Business" really worked. As expected these 2 guys upstaged Paul Rodgers. Paul's act was good but his vocals were drowned out by the rest of the band, which was too bad. He still has his voice. It would have been a better concert if only Randy and Fred had performed. One other backing guitar, not two would have given a much cleaner sound.

    bachman turner/ paul rodgers

by Kiffe on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I knew that Rabdy Bachman could play guitar but had not seen him live since I was a kid, he is way more amazing than I ever knew, amazing, they p[alyed all the great songs and a couple surprises that were new and quite good, blue collar blew my socks off, Rodgers made us wait an hour in between him and BT, bo explanation or nothing so everyone started his set pissed off and half the people left before he was done which was a shame because he saved All Right now, RR fantasy and superstar for the end. he also made the crowd sing way too much, it was annoying, maybe he got tired, his voice is still very good, although it has lost an edge over time naturally. lead guitarist had his axe wired alittle too tight the sound was anooyingly high at times, support band was very good. Rodgers did it all though and worked hard and seemed to care throughout even though the crowd was thin at the end.

    OLDER AND BETTER

by Andrea50 on 2011-10-02Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Bachman Turner opened. Voices are great and first time I have witnessed the opening band do an encore which was nice to see but then again they have been around awhile. Paul Rodgers - pretty cool just to watch him walk around the stage. I attended the concert more to see and listen to Paul Rodgers but was happy with both shows. Rodgers did not play as long as BT which was disappointing and wished he would have performed more of his songs but he would have been on stage awhile. I can cross this off my bucklet list - having lived long enough to see Paul Rodgers in person.

    Awesome....but...!

by Luise on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

For both B&T and Paul Rodgers audio and mix weren't good. Rodgers puts on a good show. Bachman & Turner were not a team that night. They played, but weren't into it.

    Good Rocking Night!

by Spooky77 on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

An excellent cooking up of some of the world,s greatest rock songs by two seasoned vets of the past two decades of Rock and Roll! Bachman+Turner played loud and with abandon, yet very professionally.Especially some excellent guitar solos by Bachman. The audience was on their feet and singing along. And then came Paul Rodgers taking everyone down memory lane singing most of his past master hits and favourites. His voice with it,s unique powerful, yet smooth quality taking all fans on to a higher plane as the band blazed on behind him! Great show...both bands did encores to a singing along audience. True good hard core rock at it,s best!

    Worth the wait

by Meddyman on 2011-10-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

B&T opened a few minutes late. Fred's voice hasn't changed since I saw them 30 years ago! Randy makes his guitar look small, cuz he plays SO well and with such ease, it is almost an apendage of his body! They had a few audio problems, Not sure if they ever did get it right. Was very surprised to hear them play "Stayed awake all night" isn't that an old Krokus tune? It rolled into American Women were Randy left the planet for a few minutes and took us with him on some of the best guitar I've ever heard. Paul Rodgers is why we went. He headlined. A truly gifted man he sorta seemed hum drum and going through the motions. Don't get me wrong he was very enjoyable to listen to, his voice is probably better now than back in the day. The band he brought played well enough but there were a few missed chords and wrong notes. But hey, that's live rock and roll! Still, I didn't get the feeling he was really into it. Perhaps if he brought Mick and Simon that would have revved him up. He played lots of Bad Co. of course and a little Free. We had a few sing alongs and when it was all said and done I am darn glad we went.
