BC Lions History

The BC Lions open their 71st season in the Canadian Football League (CFL) on Saturday, June 7 at home to the Edmonton Elks. Founded in 1954, the Lions have made ten appearances in the Grey Cup, Canada’s football championship, and have won the cup six times: in 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011. The Lions have claimed the Grey Cup twice on their home turf, including their notable 1994 victory over the former Baltimore Football Club, which prevented a U.S.-based team from hoisting Canadian football’s top prize. Following world class renovations to the stadium, the Lions won another Grey Cup at home in 2011. The Lions logged the CFL’s second-longest streak of playoff appearances, running for 20 consecutive seasons between 1997 and 2016. Throughout the BC Lions’ history, individual players have claimed 14 Most Outstanding Rookie Awards, 11 Most Outstanding Canadian Awards and Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards apiece, seven Most Outstanding Player Awards, and five Annis Stukus Trophies for the CFL’s Coach of the Year.

BC Lions team puts on a great show every game. The Snoop Concert was icing on the cake. Love the Lions! Love BC Place! Love the crowd! Great events time & time again.

  • Nice stadium needs improvement

by Wam on 2025-06-10BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Went for the snoop dogg concert. The stadium itself was so humid and muggy in the halls. Also need more vendors and better food choices. Also why do you take away water fountains. At games when people are drinking it should be safety over profit.

It was excellent , game was fun, other activities superb!

  • Lions at Langford

by Will on 2025-05-22Starlight Stadium - VictoriaRating: 5 out of 5

The event was well planned and executed. Great fun the weather however could’ve been a little more accommodating. It was really cold at times!

  • Great game - great team!

by MJMax on 2025-05-22Starlight Stadium - VictoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ok - truth time- I’m a Stamps fan - so I was very excited when I heard the Lions were playing the Stampeders in Langford! The game was absolutely engaging - both teams were strategic- played well and provided endless edge of the seat action! A few scuffles made me think I might have stumbled across a hockey game - refs took care of that- cheerleaders brought a sense of energy enthusiasm. So fun - hope Lions come back - such a great experience!

  • Fantastic🏈

by Kelly on 2024-10-22BC Place - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time! The venue was full of lots of exciting sights and sounds. The game was amazing! My only complaint was getting in. We stood out in the monsoon rains waiting at gate E until the doors opened. When they finally did the staff refused to let any of us in that had “approved clear bags or small pouches” the sign clearly states this! We were made to file through one gate like drenched animals - absolutely pathetic and completely unnecessary. Not at all impressed by that. Do better BC place.

  • Great experience

Everything was awesome the drink & food specials, the entertainment all good !

  • BC Defense won the game!

by Dale from Trail on 2024-10-07BC Place - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

We had club seats which I would highly recommend. Still a great view and it was nice to have the lounge and washrooms nearby. Boring game until the 4th quarter when the BC defense had a pick six and a fumble recovery for another touchdown. I still have faith in our BC boy, Nathan Rourke, to come alive just in time for the playoffs.

  • Me and My Son

by Goarfd on 2024-10-07BC Place - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The game was perfect. I spent the time with my son, it was a perfect experience. We had a blast watching BC kick Calgarys butt.

  • Great Game!

Loved it! Amazing energy. Great football. Lots of entertainment. Only complaint is the astronomical food prices!

  • Great fun🏈

Great fun despite our brutal loss. Lots of exciting things happening at the venue. My only complaint is the astronomical lack lustre food prices & quality.

  • We had a great time!!!!

For seniors that used to play football getting together to watch the big game having a blast hopefully they come back to Victoria.

  • The Watch Party wasn't much of a party.

by Beth on 2024-09-03Royal Athletic Park - VictoriaRating: 3 out of 5

There were very few people there. I took my walker to sit upon. I enjoyed being there but it would have been more fun with more people. The weather was perfect and the large screens were easy to see. I would have preferred to be at the game. Did they have "handicapped"spaces? Beth

  • It was a great game!

by HeatherB on 2024-09-03Royal Athletic Park - VictoriaRating: 4 out of 5

The BC Lions game in Victoria was a great game. Energy was high from attendees and players. Unfortunately, the concessions ran out of beer too early. I found that there was not enough room to move around on the ground to get anywhere! Could have possibly had merch and concessions outside of park maybe.

  • Exciting event

by Lindy on 2024-09-03Royal Athletic Park - VictoriaRating: 5 out of 5

While there’s always room for improvements, for a first time event we thought that the whole setup was quite amazing. Next time though, they need to make sure that they don’t run out of drinking water and perhaps try to set up food and beverage stands differently so that the lineups for those items are not so long. Had so much fun and met some great people.

  • yep

by nope on 2024-09-03Royal Athletic Park - VictoriaRating: 4 out of 5

Bought tickets for backyard party expected way more people but there was about 100 it looked liked. need more food vendors not a big selection. only the greek food truck was the busiest of the 4 that was there. connection to tv screens kept going out plus the sports casters didnt know that the camera was on them when they werent ready so we saw everything(not sure they know this!!)

  • Fun to attend, team playing crappy

    by laffer10 on 2024-08-26BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Always fun to get out with the crowd and enjoy the game live. Would be better if team was playing better. Disappointed that water fountain/bottle fillers on upper deck were all out of order!

  • Two changes I'd like to see at Lions games.

by Old Guy on 2024-08-21BC Place - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I think it would improve the fan experience if the down, quarter and time were also on the jumbotron in addition to both end zones. Also, speaking as an old guy, I wish there was no loud music playing between downs. I've been a Lions fan since the early 1960's and I still enjoy watching the games.

  • Too old for the 'nosebleed' section....

by Lyndy on 2024-08-21BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Just a caution for elderly football fans.....the upper 400 level is a hard slog at our age. Won't attend again if only reasonable seats are 'up there'.....and may be my imagination, but the steps actually seem higher/steeper than the 200's.....should come with a warning !!

  • Great game

by Nik on 2024-07-16BC Place - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Great game but the seats are terrible. Very hard. Upgrade to club seats, save your back
