    Dylan was a great surprise!!

by Torchie on 2009-11-09Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

Have to say, my wife and I weren't expecting much from this show and we even contemplated not going at all. I am so glad we did!!! what a great show. Dylan's voice was very raspy but he still sang with conviction and soul. His band was amazing also!! Like a Rolling Stone and All Along the Watchtower for an encore and HIghway 61 were definately high points in this show. I would go again.

    He can still rock it!

by Cherri on 2009-11-09Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

Show started on a mellow note, but, as it went on he was getting into it, I could see he was loving it and so were his fans. I enjoy his stories, his sense of humor, rhythm and of course his distinctive voice which could never be anyone other than Mr. Dylan himself. If only he could have played more songs, there were so many I wanted to hear him do. I would have stayed all night. Keep rockin' it Zimmy!

    Forgettable

by Joepie on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

The sound was badly mixed and acoustics poor. Couldn't hear Dylan on on keyboard and guitars were too load. Dylan was Dylan but his rendition of classic older songs was very disappointing. The sound got even louder as the evening progressed and it seemed as if the guitars were trying to overpower Dylan......very unfortunate. I wouldn't attend another Dylan concert.

    A Living Legend!

by dylanfan on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

A must see show. Musical and Lyrical Legend and vocals that can only ever be Dylan's.

    Bob's still the man.

by bacon2u on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

Great band, and all in all a great show. Bob still has it after all these years. Didn't play too many "hits" but his deeper obviously older voice lends itself to a lot of great blues songs. His band was amazing and played with full force. Overall I would recommend his concert more so for the blues lovers than the "best of dylan" lovers.

    Dylan a disappointment

by MargeL on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

For any diehard Dylan fan from a previous era (like me!), this show was a disaster. It was more like a heavy metal, or at the very least, a hard rock concert than a display of Dylan's former acoustic guitar/harmonica/voice folk excellence. I only recognised "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" about half-way through the song when I caught the name, and "Like a Rolling Stone" was shortened and contorted by Dylan talking the lyrics, rather than singing them. In fact, he did this for most of the songs on the setlist. Not once did he pick up a guitar, not even an electric one, and there was not one acoustic guitar on the stage. In total, I recognised about 5 songs, including Lay Lady, Lay - not one of my Dylan favourites. If Dylan ever returns this way, I will pass on the tickets and stay home with my treasured vinyl!

from ashes to ashes, dust to dust

by ohwell on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

The man can no longer sing, only growl. Even if you know the lyrics by heart, you might be surprised how little you understand the words of what Bob Dylan currently performs. Dylan does such a disservice to his own legacy, it would be better to recruit other singers to cover vocals.

    Bob Dylan or Colonel Sanders?

by Ruben on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

The show was well produced with good sound and lighting. Bob was dressed much like Colonel Sanders. His voice is showing the signs to the years. The sound was classic Dylan and the band was tight. The venue was clean and well managed. I was looking for more variety in the presentation of the music. It would have been nice to hear some voices other than Bob's from time to time. Never buy floor tickets.

    Poor

by RJPMMAC on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

To begin with this is the first time I have ever been frisked before entering a concert. While our seats were excellent, everyone in front of us elected to stand while the concert was on. The songs Dylan sang were unrecognizable to me except " Lay Lady Lay" that was in itself unrecognizable, as a result of Dylans rendering of it. His voice was raspy and difficult to understand. While the band was acceptable, the overall experience left me cold. Finally , there were enough nutbars in the venue to cause some significant distraction and who were either drinking too heavily or had forgotten their medication,

    Disapointed

by Sebsters on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

This show was quite disapointing. I really like Bob Dylan, and I really enjoyed his last few albums. Even if his voice is not very good in the last few albums, he really seems to try signing the melodies. Not so much in the show. He just sounds too lazy to sign the melodies, and just yells out the lyrics. There were a few songs that I actually enjoyed, but that was probably like a quarter of the whole show. Maybe he doesn't have the voice for his early stuff, which is understandable, but he totally butchered some stuff that came out in the last 5 years. I'll stick to his records.

    No communication with audience

by leighland on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

While the music was upbeat and energetic, Dylan`s voice lacked emotion, though he was able to sing all by himself without any back up singers for nearly two hours straight, quite amazing when you consider his age. Unfortunately, I could hardly understand the lyrics since he was singing almost in a slur. It didn`t appear to me that he was trying to reach the audience through his songs. There was very little, if any, body language, and he never said hello or good evening. The only time he really attempted to communicate with the audience was when he introduced the members of his band. I don`t know of his early days but those who do must have been disappointed.

The Man, The Legend, Bob Dylan.

by KitchenerGirl on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

I have now seen Bob Dylan twice in my lifetime. Once two years ago at the ACC, where the show was less than impressive. The second time was last night at the Kitchener Auditorium, where we were treated to a show that resembled nothing of that I had seen 2 years ago. Dylan was lively, danced a little, and even played the guitar to one of his classics. I left the show remembering why it was that I loved Bob Dylan to begin with. This is a sign of a great show, and witnessed in my hometown which made the experience so much more memorable. He's still got it.

    Tangled up in Dylan again

by srotolo on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

Show was superb! Great mix of old classics like Hattie Carroll, and new songs. I hoped Bob would pick up the guitar this time and he did. The whole audience was groovin'. Thanks for dropping by Bob!

One more thing crossed off my bucket list.

by wiltedflowerchild on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

He IS the one and only Bob Dylan! I felt bad for him as his voice is totally gone. It seemed painful for him to sing. The odd time you'd hear the "old" Dylan. His band is awesome and the music fantastic. I am really glad I went because He IS the one and only Bob Dylan!

    Great show!

by mcskinner on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

The Dylan concert last night in Kitchener was Great! Dylan was at his best, and even looked like he was enjoying the show. What stood out was how tight the band was...Dylan does have a tendency to throw some curves, unrehearsed, but not so last night.. Stu Kimball was great on rhythm guitar, and the addition of Charlie Sexton on lead, I think held it all together, Dylan was even animated on a few songs, dancing and acknowledging the crowd...looked like he was enjoying the show as much as everyone else, my 13 yr old son was with me, and enjoyed the show as well! first concert I have been to, where the age group was from 13 to 70.... cant wait til the next one

    Continued

by Werty on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

What can be said to add to unbelievable!!! This is my 20+ seeing Mr. D in concert and I will be at the next one anywhere within driving distance as well. This ticket stub will get a place in my 'Hall of Bob' leading to our 'wreck' room. Just having Charlie back seems to have added an 'extra' punch into Bob's harp and keyboard. Now we just need to get Larry back - but then he is busy with another great and former Bob associate in Levon Helm. I miss the old days with Bobby on the acoustic doing songs just by himself. But, this concert more than makes up for anything in past. Bob shows his true talent in how he can change his songs around so that even us 'old dog' followers have to listen before we can 'Name That Tune' - only a true artist can do that. Thanks Bob - you are truly the icon above all others.

    Bobs Back !

by numptylover on 2009-11-08Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

Great Show. Best Bob I've seen in years. I've been to every Bob show in the area for the last 10 years, this was one of his best. He was out from behind the keyboards, playin guitar, doin a little dancing. And his voice was much improved, he was actually annouciating.
