Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL. They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

    TUUUKKKAAA shutout was unreal!

by MajorZero on 2011-12-16TD Garden - Boston

My brother and I came from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to watch the Bruins face the Kings and it was an incredible experience that we'll never forget. We're both Bruins fans and we always wanted to see a live hockey game and this took us by complete surprise. Not only were the players on both teams great, but Tuuka Rask was phenomenal with his spectacular saves and his vibrant energy. The crowd was cheering and roaring to his saves. The Bruins got a shutout and were clearly the better team that game. My brother and I took the opportunity to travel to Boston for my brother's birthday and it was the best decision. The people that worked at the arena were super nice and friendly. On top of that, Boston is beautiful city and very calm. I highly recommend visiting Boston and seeing the Bruins play live as well if you haven't been. They're one heck of a team-filled with a lot of superstars. Overall, I love Boston, the people, the Bruins, and all that it offers!

    Great place to watch hockey.

by Skaterboy on 2011-11-13TD Garden - Boston

This was a good game of hockey to watch, with plenty to keep you amused even when the play had stopped. Our seats were very easy to get to, without disturbing other people. There are plenty of places to get merchandice or something to eat and drink nearby, remember to take I.D. if buying alcohol. We found TD Gardens very easy to get to by bus or subway. Would recommend a tour of the sports museum on the 5th and 6th levels.

    Mind Blowing!

    by CDM69CHartrand on 2011-11-12TD Garden - Boston

This was my first time in Boston. I went with a very special old friend. He is a Bruins fan while I cheer for the Habs. Its always a good show between these two teams. The rivalry is second to none; so this gave way to a very exiting match. The people of Boston treated me with respect and class even though I was wearing a Habs jersey. I will never forget this experience; my whole outlooks of that team and its citizen was all for the good! Thank you Boston!

    Great game, okay venue

    by sensfan71 on 2011-11-04TD Garden - Boston

I have no complaints about the game (except that my team lost, but that's life!) or the patrons. The venue is okay. There isn't a lot of room to move in the concourse. The staff are very pushy in rushing you out of the building -- something I haven't experienced in any other NHL rink. Usually you can sit around and relax before you rush outdoors into the crowds. The worst problem was the fan blowing cold air above our heads. It's November; why is there freezing cold air conditioning directed at us? I was shaking the whole night, and it was hard to enjoy the game to the fullest extent.

    Great goaltender game

by Matsuo on 2011-10-12TD Garden - Boston

First time at the TD Garden, really liked the view from our seats. From what I could see, the view must be good from about every single seats in there. Would definitely try to see another event at my next Boston trip.

    Canucks Fan in Boston

by CanucksFanInBoston on 2011-06-11TD Garden - Boston

The seats were excellent and we were happy to attend a Stanley Cup Final game to support the Canucks in Boston. Unfortunately, some (not all) of the Boston fans took things a little to far and made completely unacceptable comments toward us as well as our country. We were also there for the Wednesday game and as an upside, the fans in the Loge section were much more pleasant than those in the 300 level! A little disapointing when visiting fans spend thousands to fly down, another thousand for tickets and pump thousands of dollars into the local economy via hotels, restaurants, tours and gifts. We may go back, only if the management at TD Garden improves their security/support for visiting teams and the local fanactics ease up on their rudeness.

I loved the entire sequence of events from A to Z... From the time I purchased the tickets on TM, all the follow up that took place after buying the tickets, the event alerts, the pick up of the tickets at the TD Garden in Boston. Coming from Montreal, I left a few days prior to the event to visit the city of Boston... I was totally WOWed! GREAT JOB TM... I will definitely use your services again and again! :-)

We attended the Bruins vs Tampa playoff game, drove twelve hours one way, seats were awesome. I highly recommend this to anyone that is a hockey fan. We attended Fan Zone as well and had a blast. If you are a true hockey fan then this is the place for you. The atmoshere for a playoff hockey game far exceeded our expectations. We will be back.

    Game 7 was extraordinary!

by GMRules on 2011-04-29TD Garden - Boston

What a great hockey game. The atmosphere at the TD Garden was electric! The Canadiens made it really interesting with a tying goal in the last 2 minutes forcing the game into overtime. You could have heard a pin drop after the goal.

    Bruins-Habs OT Thriller

by DoctorJ on 2011-04-27TD Garden - Boston

The event was terrific, and the outcome helped. Terrific venue. These seats - and the service at these seats - are some of the best (and most comfortable) I've ever experienced. Great sight lines

    Great game, wonderful venue!

by BruFan on 2011-04-11TD Garden - Boston

I live in Toronto and found that it is easier to get hockey tickets in the US than at home. I've been to many games in the US and found TD Garden to be a wonderful venue. The team support and fan appreciation was evident. Even though i was supporting the Canadian team, I left witha Bruins t-shirt.

boston bruins vs montreal in boston

by rebrick on 2010-12-10Boston TD Gardens - Boston

I have been a bruin fan for 56 years and this was part of my bucket list. Loved everything about it. Stayed in town for 3 days and had on my boston bruin coat from 25 years ago and got numerous comments from people all over boston. one guy wanted to buy my coat. the game was okay but boston lost to the hated montreal team. My seats were great between the blue and center line with club seats that allowed us to go to the restuarant and had a great meal. the fans were great even taking pictures for me. Thanks for my bucket list
