    Boz Scaggs

by runt on 2010-06-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Boz could still hit the notes and had great backup vocals. Over all sound was too compressed. Drummer was good but could not be heard due to the fish bowl enclosure he was trapped in. Don't know why they had to use this set up as it sucked the feel out of the sound. Overall pretty predictable show....no surprises here.

Boz sounds the same as he did 35 years ago !!

This was a very enjoyable evening. The age of concert-goers was certainly up there....lots of gray hair !!

    The Boz Still Got It

by GaintSquid1 on 2010-06-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Boz Scaggs played all the favorite tunes - Lowdown, Slow Dancer, Harbor Lights, Georgia, Lido ..... - it felt like he had never left from 30 years ago! Has it been that long?

    Boz was fantastic!

by BB57 on 2010-06-21Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I have been a Boz Scaggs fan since my youth and was looking forward to seeing him live in a more intimate setting. His voice and guitar playing ability is still fantastic!

    Boz Scaggs

by Maggathie on 2010-06-21Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

His music is timeless! The (mostly) 50+ crowd still know how to appreciate that great music that has endured for more than 30 years. I continue to have Silk Degrees playing in my car and love to sing all the words. Reading his lyrics on line gives me even more insight into Boz's feelings of romanticism, infatuation and love of women he has known; paired with his New Orleans style feel for musicality.

How many hits was that again?

by mookiewilson on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

We have bought a number of Boz Scaggs' albums since his "big airplay era" decades ago. We have especially liked the Bluesier one, "Come On Home". Although it's nice that he plays to his fans because he seems to see where his bread is buttered (meaning the old hits), we would like to have heard more from the more recent albums. As an aside, and not wishing to stay in a time warp from our youth, Boz' '05 album "Fade Into Light" has some updated versions of his "Silk Degrees" hits. Fun, fun, fun!! All in all, we were very happy with the quality of the band, and he can still sing!!! Kudos to his giving some spotlight to the young lady whose name we missed. She was stellar!!

    Boz is the best!!

by BeauJo on 2010-06-20River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

I love this guy.!!!! My husband first introduced me to him in 1972. We have most of his albums. The concert wasn't long enough. With his encores it was just about 1 1/2 hours long. He has so many great songs I could've listened to him for another 1 1/2 hours. He tends to be a quiet man on stage, but his time he talked a bit and smiled a lot. That was nice. Great venue, great musicians, great night.

The Boz man still has it

by DrJohn on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The show lived up to expectations. The band members and Boz himself put in solid performances, with perhaps a glimps here and there of inspired musicianship. While the theatre was acceptable, the location and the casino experience was poor. No room at the only resturant before the show, no staff to take a drink order in the casino lounges. I was in the facility for over an hour and could not find a way to spend any money on food or beverage. I expect a casino to have an efficient means to relieve me of my money... It sure ain't Vegas!!

    Boz & Band rocks

by RNST on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

Top marks for Boz's voice being in fine form. Band was great. Female back up singer was a highlight of the show. Venue ?? So much of his music makes it difficult to stay in your seat and that is what people were told. Sit Down. hmmm? Perhaps the Red Robinson theatre could take a look at a different event configuration that would allow people to get out of their seats to dance. I would have reviewed this as five star but couldn't because of the stay in your seat rule.

    Boz at his best

by heresjohnnie on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

This ius one of the best concerts this year. Being in the small setting of Red Robinson"s Theatre made for great sound, and seeing the Man do his best. Great songs and a great evening. Hope to see him again.

Boz Scaggs - Quality but short on quantity

by CASA on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The quality of the performance was great but we were very disappointed that the crowd had to call for an oncore after only an 80 minute performance. In total the show only lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes! At least two number one songs were left off the set list: Harbour Lights and Your all alone - that was disappointing as well. The band and back-up vocalists were fantastic!

"That was AMAZING" (quote from a 21 year old)

by Anonymous on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I would have preferred a more intimate setting. (The venue was nice but the lighting could have been less '70's.) I was surprised that my husband and I were younger than many of the attendees. I remember buying 'Silk Degrees' in 1976 when I was a teenager. My two young adult children were looking forward to hearing songs from, 'But Beautiful'. I was too . . . . and in fact, was quite disappointed but realized Boz played to the crowd that were adults in the late 70's. I was waiting for him to sit on a stool and play a couple of standards. That would have made the concert near untouchable to me. Monet was outstanding! As we left my son said, "That was amazing!" He was right, it was! The Band members were superb!

    Back-up was the show

by Lips007 on 2010-06-20Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

Boz still sounded like Boz for the most part, but i must say that if it wasn't for the back-up singer, the show would have been flat. The musicians were great but it seems Boz had a hard time playing an hour and a half of music with all his stage exits and encores which started early in the show. I wouldn't go out of my way to see him again, and i was a fan since i was 16 years old ( 32 yrs ago )

Almost all of his 70's hits!

by Totofan on 2010-06-19River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

First off, I would have given 5 stars had he played longer and included material from more of his albums - Dig in particular comes to mind. That said, if you are a fan of his 70's radio hits, this show is a must. Boz looked and sounded amazing, actually better than when I saw him a few years back. I was curious if he could find quality musicians to work with since two of his backing bands - Toto, and Sklar and Kortchmar (from James Taylor) - are preparing for or already touring. At any rate, the musicans were top notch and complimented Scaggs nicely. I would absolutely go again.
