Brandi Carlile = Indescribable
by j9silversideup on 2009-09-30Mod Club Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5I saw Brandi last night at the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto, ON. Everything about my experience was unforgettable. The theatre itself was cozy and intimate. There were maybe 200 people altogether in the audience. The bar was easily accessable, and there was a small seating area for people who did not want to stand on the dance floor. Anyone standing on the dance floor, even towards the back of the theatre still had a great view of the stage.
Brandi herself was absolutely incredible; she was funny, laid back, and down-to-earth. Her voice is out of this world. I loved her music from the first time I heard it, but her recordings do not to her voice justice. Live, she is indescribable. Her voice needs no instruments to accompany it, but with her band behind her, she is something else. I've never heard anything like it. There are many musicians out there with wonderful voices, but Brandi's voice is truely an instrument in and of itself. When she sang the song that first introduced me to her, "The Story", I actually bawled. Music doesn't often have that effect on me, but I can honestly say, Brandi Carlile soothes my soul.
Seeing Brandi live is an experience I will do my utmost best to repeat, next time she comes back to Canada. I recommend that everyone does the same.
