About

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are regarded as one of the very best live rock acts of all time. From humble New Jersey beginnings in 1972, they grew in popularity to become one of the true icons of American music. Hits such as “Born In The USA” and “Dancing In The Dark” cemented Bruce Springsteen as one of America's top popular rock vocalists. He's known for being one of the hardest-working acts in the industry, and concerts can regularly last three hours or more and tours often last years rather than months.
Bruce Springsteen began his musical career singing and playing in a number of bands in the New Jersey area in the mid-‘60s. Influenced by the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Cream, his musical style was both a reflection of his own tastes and of his blue-collar working-class American roots. The mix of old-fashioned rock and roll with a more progressive, often politically minded lyrical style soon began to build a cult following for Springsteen. By 1972 he was signed to a deal with Columbia Records, along with the E Street Band. The band's members changed now and then over the years, but the core members were Danny Federici, Clarence Clemons, Garry Tallent, Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg. Together they released their first album, Greetings From Asbury Park NJ, in 1972.
While they enjoyed tremendous success in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, they were launched into the megastar category with the release of Born In The USA in 1984. The album stormed the US charts, becoming one of the biggest-selling records of all time with over 30 million albums sold. Bruce Springsteen became an American pop-culture icon and the band enjoyed huge success worldwide with sold-out stadium tours and numerous top 10 singles.
In 1999 Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and over the years the act has won numerous Grammy and Golden Globe Awards while continuing to rock at sell-out shows the world over. Bruce has always remained true to his roots, often turning down offers from corporate advertisers wanting to use his music for profit. His music has truly captured the American spirit over the years, which is why he has remained a much-loved and consistently popular musician for such a long time. Away from his on-stage commitments he is an activist for equal rights and runs a charity called The Foundation which helps support war veterans and food banks.

    Bruce was friendly and loving!

by Lidia on 2012-12-26Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Bruce showed how much he loves and trusts his fans by falling onto the standing general admission crowd and having them carry him from the middle stage to the main stage. This showed a definite connection between Bruce and the love of his music just the way it ought to be! I know this is Canada but we were all dissappointed that Bruce did not sing Born In The USA weren't we! Well anyways the funning thing was the lights when automatically on at 11pm at Copps and Bruce was laughing through his singing but then tripped over the stage even with the lights on and then threw his guitar after taking a good look at it! I hope he didn't hurt himself too much but he managed to carry on hopping and skipping around trying to finish the concert and at the end I seen the bunch of them leave from the venue with police escort. Hope he was ok!.

Bruce Springsteen was excellent as always.

by Zmaker on 2012-12-10Jobing.com Arena - Glendale

Our 3rd Bruce Springsteen concert and it topped the previous 2 (Europe, in big arenas). Show was high energy from start to finish (over 3 hours), with a great mix of old and new songs. E-Street band was amazing, showing great flexibility especially playing the requests from the audience. I cannot say enough about the show, if you are not a Bruce Springsteen fan you should be. I am struggling to think of an artist who can top this.

    Bruce in Phoenix

by Orlee on 2012-12-09Jobing.com Arena - Glendale

Great show! Had pit tickets right beside the second stage, where Bruce performed several times. He was great and really careful not to step on anyone's fingers (mine included!) Interacted beautifully with the band and audience. Did a duet with Sam Moore which was just great to hear...

    WOW!

    by runner1 on 2012-12-08Rogers Arena - Vancouver

This was my first Bruce Springsteen concert and will definitely try to see him again. It was a very high energy and entertaining concert. The Boss sure knows how to rock the audience. At age 63, Bruce Springsteen still had plenty of stamina to play over 3 hours and even went crowd-surfing. Only negative was that the show started about 45 minutes late.

    Bombast Rules!!

    by bayoubunny66 on 2012-12-08Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Bruce continues to rock on the edge of the great political chasm. He champions the trodden while he treads on the effects pedals. The ambience was excellent. The band filled the venue with flashing lights and flashier sounds. The Born in the USA tour had more jump to it, as one might expect from a younger band, but they can still fuel some dreams.

    Springsteen can still deliver.

    by PG17 on 2012-12-04Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The Boss can still deliver a super show. His ability to take control of the audience before singing a single note is amazing. This was my third time enjoying his show and music in person.

Non stop music with a great mix of old and new! Springsteen certainly still has everything it takes to entertain a crowd. We had smiles on our faces for over three hours even though our feet were sore and our throats were hoarse.

    the boss rocked the house

by coup on 2012-12-02Rogers Arena - Vancouver

A truly great show by a truly great performer. The band played for over three hours and did 26 songs. It was the best by far of the three Springsteen concerts I have seen in Vancouver. Touching tribute to The Big Man and The Phantom on the big video screen during Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. Jake Clemons was brilliant on sax. Nils as solid as ever! Great moments with the young girl joining Bruce on stage for Waitin' On A Sunny Day and the 85-year-old "lifetime" boss fan who joined him for Dancin' in the Dark. Awesome! Great energy from both the stage and the crowd.

    Unending Spirit in the Night

by katzenjammer on 2012-12-01Rogers Arena - Vancouver

No opening act, just a few set adjustments, a cool red glow, some drum licks, a wailing sax and then the Boss — over three hours of Springsteen and a seventeen piece band taking us higher and higher. Springsteen's set list included his back catalogue, new releases and some surprisingly unfamiliar songs that touched the crowd while he moved along the catwalk, carried a teen vocalist who sang solo with his mike and danced with an 80-year old fan. All along I was curious about how Jake Clemons would fill the massive hole left by Clarence, and if I closed my eyes, I could imagine the big C wailing on his honey-sounding sax. My ears buzzed for days, remembering Hungry Heart, Death to My Hometown, Land of Hope and Dreams, a bunch of requests and an unending encore that ended with Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. Now I know why the tickets cost so much.

    Springsteen's Wrecking Ball Pummels Vancouver

by thatdanguy on 2012-11-30Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Bruce Springsteen 11/26-12 Rogers Arena, Vancouver BC The enduring artist’s lament: “Audiences just want to hear the songs they know”. Well, here’s something to consider - try writing new songs that are every bit as good as the ones that made you famous in the first place. From the riveting opening song “Shackled & Drawn”, then on through 3 hours of alternating “hits”, brand-new album tracks and a few killer cover tunes, Bruce Springsteen engaged his Vancouver audience with each and every single note. Engaged being a massive understatement - the crowd in Rogers Arena sang along, clapped, fist-pumped and helped Mr. Springsteen sustain what ended up being an absolute musical wrecking ball. Yes, fans were treated to favs (“Hungry Heart”, “Badlands”, “Radio Nowhere”) from a variety of albums, but the songs from Wrecking Ball got the same level of enthusiasm as the rest. “We Take Care Of Our Own”, “Death To My Hometown” and the album title track came across as appreciated and seasoned to the audience as was “Spirit In The Night”. If he’s still on the road twenty years from now, they’ll all stand the test of time like the rest of his catalogue. If you had Googled for a setlist beforehand, some of those songs stayed in the program. Others he picked randomly form audience signs, making the E-Street Band scramble to recall “Red-Headed Woman”. And the classic covers - Patti Smith’s “Because The Night”; Eddie Floyd’s “Raise Your Hand” - unreal... Moments of inexplicable energy, moments of incredible poignancy (especially his tribute video for passed bandmates), and being in attendance at just the right time of year to have “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” included in the 6-song encore. Like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and I’ve seen a lot of performing artists. At 63 years old, Bruce Springsteen was as strong vocally at the end of his performance as he was belting out the first song. He has few equals out there that can fit into that category. And every one of those songs the audience was more than eager to hear, judging by their reaction. Even if it was for the first time...

    Well worth it!!!

by QuantumLeep on 2012-11-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band were truly top notch entertaining. He is a great performer, but couldn't be that amazing if he didn't have such awesome talent in his band. They were a joy to watch, all of them. I so loved that Bruce got up and personal with the audience ... nice to see he is a real person and appreciates his fans. He knows that he is there because of us.

    Was A Good Show

by Quickbeam on 2012-11-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

This was a good show. There are a couple of reasons I only gave it three stars. One of those reasons is to do with me, not the show. We just didn't know many of the songs he played. We certainly appreciated his energy and the way he played the crowd, but it is difficult when you don't know a lot of the songs. I also did not think the sound was the best I've heard. I've always wanted to see Springsteen and was glad we went, but I would probably not go a second time. If you are a big fan though, he is very energetic and does put on a good show.

Best artist for interaction with the crowd, by his action you could feel he really wanted to be here in Vancouver entertaining us. Loved that he mentioned The Vancouver Food Bank needs our help. Great show couldn't have asked for more from Bruce.
