    Overall Performance was OK

by Rog311 on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Dancing was superb! Female vocalist was mediocre and songs did not match the theme of the event. Magician was also mediocre. It lacked a professional presentation and was just slightly above the amateur level. No excitement.

    AMAZING PRRFORMANCE

by SMILEY on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I loved the performance. Much better than I expected. The dancing, music, singing and the illusions were spectacular. I could have watched them perform for hours!!! If you have the chance to see Celtic Illusions, I recommend it highly!!!

Good show overall, didn't really need the magic component.

by RogerP on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I enjoyed the show overall, the dancing was great, the singer was really good, though the background music sometimes drowned her out. Same with the fiddle and flute players, both were excellent but sometimes the background sound overwhelmed. Weakest part for me was the magic. Most of the tricks involved onstage instant costume changes, which is okay a couple of times, then gets repetitive. The show did not really, for me, need the "big tricks", as they are somewhat old and dated illusions. Again, overall I thought the show was great! Good energy, great music, very crisp dancing!

    Celtic Illusion

by ema on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

On October 18, 2019, I purchased two Ticketmaster tickets for the Celtic Illusion show, which was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, for the total sum of $165.40. The seats I chose were in a carefully selected prime location, at LC A , seats 24 and 25. On Tuesday night last (Feb .25) my guest and I settled in to enjoy the show,. We were upset that, no less than 3 times, we had our line of vision obscured by an usher bringing LATE guests to their seats in the sectioned area directly in front of the stage. Late comers should NEVER be given the opportunity of interrupting other patrons, no matter the reason for their tardiness. We all know that delays can and may happen, so everyone has to ensure they are in their chosen seats in a timely manner, or wait until there is a break in the performance. Regarding the show, it was superb and it moved along at a swift pace, incorporating the illusions with the fleet footed dancers and some lovely songs and musical pieces too.

    Mixed

by Jumpingjack on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Celtic Illusions gave some entertainment that was fabulous, but the entire experience was not great. The dance was absolutely the best ever but this was the only part that was really interesting in the performance. The singer and the instrumentalists were too low key and often their sound was drowned out by too high background noise. I believe that most people were waiting for some peppy, energetic music and that was missing. The venue was not good for this show, as the auditorium is not great acustically. Too much loud background noise and not enough of the `irish`that we expected. Some of the magic was OK but I think the show would have been better without.

    Pretty Good

by Ducheroo on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Enjoyed the performance. but am not a fan of Celtic music so felt there was too much. (These tickets were a gift for my husband who is Irish.) Thought the illusions were a bit amateurish, but thoroughly enjoyed the dancing. Just as good as Riverdance I thought.

    Great dancing

by Jojo on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Overall was a good time. Dancing was amazing. Could have done without the singer...didn’t fit in with the performance and wasn’t good. More magic would have been nice as well.

    Disappointing

by L. S. on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

When the title is Celtic Illusions you would expect there to be more magic than dancing. Perhaps it was an illusion of being Celtic, as the music for the most part was not even Celtic. Felt like we stumbled into a tap dance recital. Best thing about the show was it was not very long.

    Decent

by Skippy on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Dancing was pretty good. Illusions were fairly basic and could use some work and showmanship. I was expecting more illusions and less dancing. If it came back in a tear or 2 we would probably go again.

    Disappointed

by Ron on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The dancing was excellent but frankly, grew monotonous as the show proceeded. There was no discernible story line. Words of vocalist were hard to make out; volume of music drowned her out. Overall, was very disappointed in the show and regret having spent the money.

    It was ok

by Alana D on 2020-02-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The magic was decent, although the close up magic was lost on us in the balcony seating. The dancing was good. (Although the ode to the 90s River Dance with a leader showing off in all the dances was a bit dated.) The drumming was really good, but it was only featured in one song unfortunately. If we were judges on America’s Got Talent, the flute player and singer would have been buzzed no questions asked! The flutist could not keep in time with the music and while the singer had a good voice, the songs she was singing were very random, with lyrics that didn’t seem to follow the storyline of the show and frankly the songs were not Irish enough. I guess that would be the theme of the whole show “Not quite Irish enough”.

    Good idea, needs polishing

Lots of the illusions had obvious mistakes! The dancing was good. Violinist was awesome

    Nice and existing

by Vess on 2020-02-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Calgary needs a new place or a new hall for performances like this one. Jubilee is old and outdated.

    Just ok

by Gar on 2020-02-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It was a low budget show that would be great at the local community hall. I don’t think it was ready for the big stage

    Short of expectations

by Sbell on 2020-02-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was a very good dancing show with very low quality magic. The family and I all agreed that it wasn’t a bad show but would be hesitant to tell anybody they should go see it.

    Exciting

by Ann on 2020-02-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Everything about this performance was fabulous. From the dancers, the singer, the flute player, the violinist, and, of course the illusions ..... perfection! Highly recommended and I would go again.

    Dis-illusioned

by H on 2020-02-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Don't build your hopes up on the 'Illusion' component of the show - we're not talking Penn and Teller here. It's the kind of stuff that anyone can pull off with a couple hours practice and enough low lighting. The biggest illusion is the sound coming out the speaker system - what you hear is not what you're seeing. It became pretty obvious only a few minutes into the show (solo dancer is airborn yet you can hear "footwork") and it took me right out of the show. Much like going to a concert where the lead singer is miming to a pre-recording, I came away feeling that what was presented was not a truly live experience. A shame really, as the performers are clearly competent dancers.
