About

Cher on Tour

There's a very good reason Cher is often described as an artistic chameleon. An award-winning musician and actress with a larger-than-life personality and compassionate heart, she has spent more than 50 years cultivating a singular career driven by risk-taking and an embrace of modern trends.

The California-born star cut her teeth singing backup on Phil Spector productions (including The Ronettes' "Be My Baby"), but she truly kick-started her musical career in the mid 1960s alongside then-husband Sonny Bono. The duo made pop-rock hits such as "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On," and they kept their public profile high by starring in a successful TV show, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.

Cher found even more enduring success when she stepped out on her own, especially musically. In the early '70s, she landed at No. 1 with the mystical folk-rocker "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" and the string-swept, theatrical soul-pop gem "Dark Lady." In the late '80s, the brash, hard rock-influenced "I Found Someone" and "If I Could Turn Back Time" connected on the charts. The late '90s saw her emerge with the upbeat, electro-pop worldwide smash "Believe," which earned the 2000 Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Cher also excels as a musical interpreter; her versions of the R&B classic "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" and Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis" especially demonstrate vocal versatility and range.

In the '80s, she became more serious about her movie career and acted in multiple well-received films. She won major awards for this work, notably the 1983 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for Silkwood and the 1988 Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Moonstruck.

Cher's creative spirit and drive remain vibrant. In 2018, her turn in the ABBA-inspired movie musical hit Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (which included a dynamite duet with actor Andy Garcia on "Fernando") led to her recording Dancing Queen, an album of ABBA covers.

The setlist of Cher's 2019 Here We Go Again Tour includes several of these exuberant disco gems, in addition to major hits culled from her storied catalog. As usual, the concert also is an eye-popping visual extravaganza driven by exquisite stage decor and intricate choreography. The centerpiece is Cher herself, who commands the stage with glitzy costumes (and multiple outfit changes), charismatic banter, and her powerful, magnetic voice.

Chic and Cher were awesome but we were Blinded by the Lights

    by B. W. on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Nile Rodgers and Chic blew the roof off the Scotiabank Centre with an endless string of Mr. Rodgers #1 Singles....a fantastic opener....Cher's still got it at 73 and put on a very Vegas Style show that was totally enjoyable....but the light show was more than annoying and I'm sure was a major distraction for many in the audience....sometimes less is more!....

    Awesome

by Wan on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Great show. However there was a delay from when CHIC ended to Cher coming on stage. The back dancers were great as well as the lead guitarist showmanship. Cher was simply awesome. Looking at her perform, its hard to imagine she is 73 years. Great inspiration.

    Friends Forever

by ELK on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Amazing show overall! Aside from CHER being incredible, the musicians, dancers, set design, lighting, sound and venue were the best I've ever experienced. Thanks for giving us a show full of memories and technological genius.

Still living the experience. Wonderful show. Just loved the tribute to Sonny. Show was suppose to start at 9 pm. Sitters and ride home based on time. When the show runs/starts late so does everything else. Would still go again..

    Concert was good but...

by Nikki on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The concert was pretty good but Cher was suppose to come on at 9pm she came on at 9:45pm keeping everyone waiting 45min. Than she had an outfit change after every single song while videos played and dancers performed dragging it out so it ended late.

    Awesome

by Helen on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I loved seeing the Cher concert again. But you could tell she was tired. She had tons of costume changes in her typical style. And performance was outstanding. She is an amazing performer. Well worth the drive to Toronto to see her.

She definitely has turned back time!

by Lee on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Cher came out singing in her famous contralto voice, full of energy transporting us to the past with Sonny and through the vast catalogue of her songs with fabulous costume and wig changes. It was a memorable night!

    Cher, Toronto

by Terry on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The Cher ptoduction was very dynamic. I liked the set design, lighting, the costuming, the dancers, backup singers, sound, and of course Cher herself with her various costume and wig changes. Cher's voice is still as strong as when I used to watch the Sonny and Cher show in the seventies when she was in her twenties, and her figure just as youthful and sexy as back then. I liked when she came out on the elephant and did that Bollywood number. I liked how she did that signature song she and Sonny used to sing on the Sonny and Cher show, I Love You Babe, and how it was done with him on the video doing his part and she doing her part live. I liked the videos of her past including scenes of movies she was in and the story and scenes of Elvis and his music, though I did not hear all of it, and I liked how she danced with the dancers and how she sang Fernando so beautifully (that touched me). I liked how Cher was honest about her feelings about growing old and like that she stll has her sense of humour. The Nile Rodger and Chic band was good but I did not like that Cher took so long to come on after them and there wasn't even an announcement saying how long the break would be, and I wish I was warned on the website that my seat was in an area where there was partial blockage by a large hanging speaker. It was a great, dynamic show that flowed well, except for the long break between acts without an announcement advising of expected length of break. The Cher show did not disappoint and exceded my expectations with the staging and production on the whole. Cher could have done a few more favourites but all in all it was a fabulous show. I would have given it a 5 star instead of a 4 star if it weren't fir the long, unannounced break between acts. Bravo Cher.

    Just OK

by keli Girl on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

It was just ok because I would have preferred a show that started at 9 as advertised not 9:45. Also I would have liked more actual singing rather than videos and costume changes.

    Care to Cher

by LJ on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Cher is a bon mot! A witty woman! A talent beyond compare! She easily won our hearts by just being Cher, a down-to-earth warm, earthy woman. She has been there and earned her status by being Cher. She could never disappoint! She is Cher, incomparable Cher, a delight!

    Amazing Performance

by Swain on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

It was a magical moment as Cher entered the stage and descended from her perch upon the air. Throughout the whole show was entertaining and captivating. The dancers and the visuals were only the icing on the cake But Cher really lifter everyone up. The pre show with CHIC was a great addition aswell.

    Wow

by Buckhorn Life on 2019-12-02Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

What an amazing concert and show. The costumes, dancers and stage performance was simply amazing. Hard to believe this woman still moves around the stage like she did at 73.
