Always amazing!
by Duke99 on 2017-10-10Meridian Centre - St CatharinesRating: 5 out of 5Chris de Burgh never disappoints. His songs are wonderful and touching from the classics to the newest ones. The band was great too!
Chris is still THE Story Teller!
by SneakeyPete on 2017-10-10Meridian Centre - St CatharinesRating: 5 out of 5The concert hall was a great size big enough to have a pretty large crowd yet close together enough to feel like an intimate evening with Chris and his amazing repetoire of music. The first half was great leading off with a couple of faster pieces (Bethlehem & Chain of Command) from the new album and Lonely Sky to reel in the long time fans. It focussed fan favorites (Missing You, A Spaceman Came Travelling, Spanish Train, Ship to Shore) and also on the new album which has a lot of good new material on it. (Definitely worth getting). After an intermission he continued with a more from the new album followed by.Chris and his guitar alone singing soulful classics (Carry me, The Tower (complete with a session of Chris trying to remeber the second verse..."and he got down on his knees" forwarded by the audience triggered him back on track), Spirit, Where Peaceful Waters Flow). Contined with the band on Borderline and then did his classic walk-about for Lady in Red. Then acover of Africa by Toto, getting the crowd on their feet forthe Spirit of Man, Don't Pay the Ferryman & Emotion. He encored with Patricia the Stripper and his go to closer Go Where Your Heart Believes. All in all an emotional and fantastic concert.
Excellent show
by Davedi on 2017-10-10Meridian Centre - St CatharinesRating: 5 out of 5The best concert & band. Almost three hours long with a short break. Sounds great, still has a great voice.
Relaxed and ever gracious!
by Potatocake on 2017-10-10Meridian Centre - St CatharinesRating: 5 out of 5The whole audience gave him a standing ovation when he came on stage - so lovely to see and participate in! In my mind it was well deserved - he is ever so gracious and gifted as a song-writer and performer, appreciative of his fans, low key and relaxed. His comments were intelligent and politically astute. In this show he seemed to have more fun than usual. Excellent band - and his new drummer certainly adds energy! I saw him on London at the Palladium in the spring - a slightly longer set list and better acoustics of course. I can appreciate that a Canadian tour with its vast distances between shows warrants some song cuts but I was sad that he didn't do 'All for Love' this time. Maybe in Winnipeg or Saskatoon?

A casual guy with professional talent..
by brewce on 2017-10-10Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5Have you ever wondered what it would be like, if you strapped an electric guitar, onto Earnie, your local hardware store owner. Both his looks and his presence are very casual, creating a very comfortable and intimate connection to the crowd. Every other aspect of the show is pure seasoned professionalism. Deburgh's vocal range is phenominal, an he hits every note pitch-perfect, and with absolute clarity. Age has done nothing to his voice but improve it. His band is tight, and exceptionally well rehearsed. Sound quality was A1, which is a challeging feat in that venue. The one thing that sets Deburgh's concerts apart, is his gift for storey telling. He is both humourous, and thought provoking, giving the audience a glimps of his poetic mind and its ideals. Not preechy, but informative. A1! 10/10!! Now, where do you keep the washers??

Chris de Burgh makes it a Better World at Rama
by JenniferT on 2017-10-09Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5Before going to the show, hubby and I discussed what songs I might know. I remember Lady in Red and without much fanfare I'd like to admit not many other songs. (My husband is the one who has liked him since his late teens and hence, the 'birthday tickets' to attend the show.) I admit I was pulled in by the lights, the booming music, the deep feeling lyrics and oh did I mention the voice...the VOICE! He's truly a showman - bringing the audience into the show by clapping and singing along. You get the feeling that he is but a humble singer sharing his life and his stories with us, through song. It was phenomenal to feel so 'personal' with a singer and show. When Chris walked throughout the audience, singing Lady In Red. Not only did he stop to serenade, hug, and pose for pictures, he kept up the song without a hitch in pitch or being out of breath - he was climbing the stairs too after all! That was a great moment for sure. Seeing Chris and team live is certainly recommended and amazing!!
