CHUBB ROCK IN CONCERT:

Chubb Rock may have gotten his nickname from his imposing frame, but he made his reputation with his agile flow and thoughtful rhymes. His unique beats and uplifting messages are a huge hit with devoted fans of classic hip hop, and ticket buyers can't get enough in concert. Chubb hasn’t missed a beat since he first spat flows in the late-‘80s and early-‘90s, and he still impresses with his rapid-fire rhymes whenever he goes on tour. Fans can’t help but get swept up in the hip hop hype that Chubb Rock incites as he encourages fans to dance and rap along to classic cuts like “Treat ‘Em Right”, “Just the Two of Us”, and “Ya Bad Chubbs”.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Richard Simpson, better known by his stage name Chubb Rock, was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1968 and moved to New York at an early age. As luck would have it, his cousin Hitman Howie Tee was already a fairly successful NYC producer when Chubb began trying to establish himself as a rapper. Together they released his first two albums and the hit 1989 single “Ya Bad Chubbs”, which immediately established the prodigious rapper. In 1991 his third album The One produced hits like “Treat ‘Em Right” and “Just the Two of Us”, which pushed the record to No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Following 1992’s I Gotta Get Mine Yo! Chubb began releasing more sporadically, releasing one album in the ‘90s and a few songs in the ‘00s. Chubb Rock has remained active as a performer over the years, always bringing his skilled technique and booming beats to the masses wherever people are looking for some classic hip hop flavor.
