Sound quality poor
by Bluesmusician on 2012-01-02River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5I'm a Colin James fan but was disappointed with the show. James' singing and musicianship were top notch, and so was the band, but the sound quality was poor. The instruments and vocals blurred together, the bass over-powered everything and the sound level was way to high. Seemed like the volume was set for a stadium rather than a concert hall. We had good seats at balcony level, centre. I've seen other rock and blues shows at The Rock where the sound quality was excellent. The audio strategy for the James show seemed to be that loud would be fitting for a New Year's concert. But the net effect was that the audience was cheated out of some fine music because all subtlety and instrument separation was lost in the blare.
