About

With her multi-colored hair, eccentric fashion, and string of decade-defining hits, Cyndi Lauper has become synonymous with ‘80s pop. Her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual was an overnight success – her bubblegum-meets-punk aesthetic resonated with the nascent MTV generation, making her a new wave icon and earning her a Grammy in 1985 for Best New Artist. A talented singer with a mercurial voice, Lauper showed off her impressive range with the 2010 release of Memphis Blues, which remained at No. 1 on the Blues Albums Chart for an impressive 14 weeks and received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album. Born and raised in Queens, Lauper began writing songs at age 12, inspired by legendary jazz vocalists like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. After playing in various cover and new wave bands in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, she became an instant critical and commercial success with her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual. The album produced four Top 5 hits, setting a record for an album debut by a female artist, and included perennial ‘80s anthems “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Time After Time.” On tour in 2013, Lauper impressed ticket buyers with her powerful voice and energetic live concerts, performing her greatest hits along with the entirety of the She’s So Unusual record.

    EXCELLENT

    by Happy1zsa on 2013-10-30Massey Hall - Toronto

Cyndi Lauper was awesome! The meet and greet was very short, but since she looked so adorable and cute and nice, it made it worth while to have the pictures. she was upset with the fan for taking pictures up close so she took it!

Concert was nice but Massey Hall not so nice

    by Pinocchio73 on 2013-10-30Massey Hall - Toronto

Although the concert was nice, I take issue with Massey Hall letting concert goers who were sitting at the back to stand at the front and in the aisles blocking those who paid more money to be at the front. Massey Hall tells me that this is out of their hands and up to the artist. I don't buy it.

    Cyndi Lauper Rocks!

by fanforsolong on 2013-10-30Massey Hall - Toronto

Wow, this woman knows how to get you moving! The energy is out of this world! Loved her in 1984 and still love her today! This concert had everyone on their feet, she warmed our hearts with stories of the long road she has travelled in the music industry. The music was perfect starting with Money Changes Everything to Time After Time, Girls Just wanna have Fun...on and on it goes!

Her voice is still the same. If you shut your eyes you would think you were listening to her album 30 years ago!

    Cyndi was worth the wait

by Kathi on 2013-10-30Massey Hall - Toronto

We have always wanted to see her, after growing up listening to her wonderful song lists. We were thrilled to get the chance. Her singing and stories were perfect and are already a cherished experience. My only disappointment was although we were in upper balcony with an unobstructed view, all three rows in front of us stood the entire show and completely blocked the view. Thankfully sound was beautiful but not being able to see at all is extremely disappointing.

    Cyndi Lauper Rocked!!

by concerluvr on 2013-10-30Massey Hall - Toronto

This woman NEVER disappoints. I can't believe how many people have left negative reviews about her. I have seen Cyndi 7 times and she has never been "off" ever! She puts on an amazing show, and her voice blows me away every time. Seeing her again at Massey Hall was in my opinion the best so far! Her voice carried right through me. Anyone who has been to see Cyndi knows that she loves to talk. Its who she is. I would much rather go see someone who spends time telling crazy stories then one whovneeds an entire army of dancers to take a way from the fact that they cant sing live....she is a talanted performer. Go see her if your looking for pure raw talent...you WONT be disappointed! (as for the comments about the opening band...they arent bad at all. I had never heard them before and I, along with a lot of people around me were moving to the music. They arent "punk" the way I know punk, kinda of punk pop type. Worth listening to)

    She's so...

by CynFan on 2013-10-29Métropolis - Montreal

Unforgettable! Cyndi Lauper proved that age has no bearing on delivering great performances rich in vocal and poetic flights... Full of energy and generous to her audience, this woman is a world-class artist not to be missed...

Lauper was not having a good night

    by sassySarah1 on 2013-10-29Métropolis - Montreal

All bands have better nights than others. Cyndi was not having a good one. Perhaps she forgot that she was in a town where not everyone understands English, so the long stories may have been lost on many fans. I've seen her twice before and both of those shows were awesome. This one, not so much.

    Cyndi & Rosie were Incredible

by CyndiLauperNumber1Fan on 2009-08-05The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

This show was amazing. Rosie opened and had the crowd in constant laughter for the whole half hour she was on stage. Then came Cyndi who sung her heart out...singing her old favourites along with her new ones. The show was worth the price of admission over and over. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes Cyndi Lauper and/or Rosie O'Donnell.

Cyndi Lauper & Rosie O'Donnel was outstanding

by Ozzy1 on 2009-08-04The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

This show was absolutely by far the best I have seen in a very long time. Both performers entertained their audience and showed what a concert should be, not with smoke and fire works and costume changes but performing. Definitely no egos in that room and I would recommend this concert to anyone who has the opportunity to attend. You will not be disappointed.

Rosie and Cyndi were quite a team!

by JackWilson28 on 2009-08-03The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

This show was terrific! Rosie was hilarious and stayed on stage for the majority of Cyndi's show singing back up. The banter between the two was hilarious. And Cyndi was fantastic, venturing occasionally into the audience, standing on chairs and dancing with fans. I hope the pair comes back again!
