Nobody was dead at this concert

by U2Wanted on 2012-09-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Excellent reception from audience. The sound was perfect. Band sounded perfect. Vocals were the best I have heard in a very long time. I'm so happy to have seen this band live. Excellent experience.

Good Show for the most part..too loud, get real!

    by C86guy on 2012-08-27Sony Centre - Toronto

Dead Can Dance performed in Toronto what was a good show for the most part. Just over a year since I saw Brendan Perry perform solo and classic DCD songs at a half capacity venue in Toronto, it was nice to see a nearly sold out show in such a grand venue. This was the 4th time I have seen them in Toronto, the first being in 1990 at the Danforth Music Hall. Brendan's voice seems to improve with the years. I cannot say the same for Lisa's. Don't get me wrong, she is still one of the best on the planet but her vocals are definitely not as good as they use to be especially the higher pitches. The vocal accompaniment/assistance by Astrid Williamson on keyboards took away from Lisa's performance and seems to confirm the above. I have never seen Lisa Gerrard backed up by another female vocalist!? The set list was good, nice to hear the new album live as it is a very worthy release, too bad not many around me seemed to know a new record had been delivered, or if they did , had not bothered to go and hear it. Opium is the stand out track however Brendan missed an entire verse and the part with the lyric "opium". As for the comments that the concert was too loud. Is this for real? Not sure how may "rock" shows ( yes it was a rock show) these people have been to but they generally are a lot LOUDER than what you saw Thursday night and loudness generally comes with the territory . You could have borrowed my earplugs as they were certainly not needed at the show.

Dead Can Dance kicked my ass!!! I cried!

by PROGNUTHEAD on 2012-08-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Well, it's true. Dead Can Dance all over you!! This was a truely remarkable musical and personal experience for me. The level of musicianship by Lisa Gerrard and Brandon Perry is top quality and nothing short of that. Being a huge lover of progressive music I can certainly say that I was in My glory listening to such an incredible performance of certain music genres such as Art rock, ambient, goth and new age prog being performed at the highest level I've ever heard. Dead Can Dance are certainly one of the very best bands in the world and after a 16 year hiatus from the studio, they show no signs of weakness. The album Anastasis is brilliant. Highlights of the show for me include the host of Seraphim(i cried) and Children of the sun. Thanks to DCD for coming back and performing arguably their best and newest album. Anastasis is a great album people, so go buy it now!!

DCD Awesome but volume way too loud!

by checkitoutnow on 2012-08-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The DCD tunes were great. It was better from the middle of the concert to the end. The beginning was a bit rough, more so because of the sound. The volume at the beginning of the concert was unbearable, to the point where it was so loud that the sound was distorting! Rather amateurish. But great to see them back. What amazing voices!

    Not a great evening

by Mac4 on 2012-08-25Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Where to start? Dead can Dance was way too loud for the venue. Setlist was lacklustre. Palpable tension between Brendan and Lisa onstage. I enjoyed the opening act is some ways more than the headliner.
