Good show. Vocals not so good.

by MiketheBruinsFan on 2012-02-11Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

The concert was pretty good. Not worth the price of the tickets though. The music was excellent, but the vocals were not. Voice is pretty shot and that was a bit disappointing. Good show if the tickets were 1/2 the price they were. Expected a bit more from Deep Purple.

    Classic Rock at its *BEST*

by MeadowLaRue on 2012-02-10Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

30 years ago, I stepped into the British Hotel in Old Aylmer, Quebec and heard the band playing Deep Purple. I was 16, going on 24, but I loved the music and became an instant Deep Purple fan. Seeing the guys play on Feb 8, 2012, brought me back to my youth. I was in retro glory. They were amazing. I rocked it out all night. Ian Paice's drum solo was fantastic. Overall, I had a great time. Reliving my memories through all the old songs: Lazy, Space Truckin, Smoke on the Water. Monster Truck was awesome. The lead singer's voice reminded me of the Cult. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The venue was intimate and again, the show brought back memories of when we used to see all the concerts at Lansdown.

Been a big fan of Deep Purple since the beginning. What has always impressed me was Lead Singer Ian Gillan. Even when he did the album version of Jesus Christ Superstar. There are many great singers. Ian's vocal range was just amazing and I have never heard anyone even come close. Lets face it, i know he would not have the lungs he had 45 / 50 years ago. First of all you couldn't hear his voice very well and his voice was always in the forefront. Little disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

The show was fun and it was nice to see a classic Roc band like Deep Purple. I felt that the show really gained energy from the song Perfect Stranger and on.

    deep purple/deep memories

by zegifro on 2012-02-10Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

For me this was one important band as a teenager. The drummer and keybordist were really hot. The house sound mix was not very good.Too much bass and the vocalist was often not heard. I dont understand why in 2012 we cant get a good live sound from a rock band ? But the band energy was very present.Steve Morse amazing guitarist was excellent but did not capture Blacmore sound. But I still had a great time hearing all those hits.

DEEP PURPLE STILL KNOW HOW TO ROCK

by SS454 on 2012-02-10Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

Deep Purple still command the stage. Most in their sixties now, but still rock better than most. I miss seeing Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord, But Steve Morse can play as good or better, and Don Airey on keyboards was amazing.. Ian Paice is, well, Ian Paice. Best all around rock drummer ever. Even Roger Glover had a cool solo with Paice. I also met Ian Paice at a local drum store..A true gentleman..willing to talk and shake hands with everyone..A rarity in todays world..Ian Gillan's voice was great, but poor guy was hobbling about the stage with a leg injury of some sort.

Deep Purple know how to rock!

by passenger1147 on 2012-02-10Ottawa Civic Centre - Ottawa

With this lineup of Deep Purple you can't expect anything but an amazing show. They are all legends in their own right, and surely didnt' disappoint my 9year old son and I. We had a great time, and managed to sneak down to the floor for the encore and got right up to the stage. My son being right against the guard rails, Roger Glover noticed him and handed him a pick after the encore... classy guy! Thanks for making for an incredible experience for my son, Roger! Anyway.. amazing show, great set of classic Purple. Opener was Hamilton band, Monster Truck - great opener.. nice to see a smaller band get the oppurtunity to rock for large crowd! Great classic hard rock energy and feel to them! check them out!

Vocals are definately not there. Disappointing that it wasn't Ritchie Blackmore and the song choices were middle of the road. I have seen them before although it was a long time ago. It might be worth a see for some people. We were also the first show on the tour and they need to work out some bugs.

Deep Purple and the orchestra put on a great performance. Their new songs are just as good as the oldies. It was nonstop music for 2 hours.

Really enjoyed the concert from the moment they took to the stage, how can you not enjoy all those classic rock songs form days gone by. Would love to have seen Ritchie Blackmore and John Lord play with the band, but it was an amazing show.

I saw them at Maple leaf Gardens many moons ago and they sound great today after all these years and without Blackmore or Lord. Amazing solo by new Guitarist Steve Morse, wish I could remember the name of the song he played.. worth downloading. Also would have liked the volume cranked up a bit.

by Justabeancounter on 2011-06-12Casino Rama - Orillia

I saw them in Maple Leaf Gardens back in the early 80s but with a different line up and they sound pretty good today after all those years and without Blackmore and Lord. I would definitely go see them again if they are back next year. Amazing solo by new guitarist Steve Morse, wish I would remember the name of the song he played. Also would have the liked volume crank up a bit.
