The deftones are amazing and they brought the house DOWN! Chino sounds and looks just as good as he did 10+ years ago. Sick!

Sound Academy was packed and Deftones put on a great show, well worth the money. Saw them the next day in Montreal and after the comparison, the sound and energy at the Montreal location was much better....but if I hadn't gone to that show Toronto Deftones would have got a 10/10. Chino's vocals were mind blowing!

    Tones made me Deaf

by SuperstarBanshee on 2011-05-07Métropolis - Montreal

The first ( and only one ) time i ever went backstage at a concert was at a Deftones show during their White Pony tour, at the Verdun Auditorium in the fall of 2003. Despite the fact that liked my experience behind the curtains, the show was not quite as good as i wanted it to be. First of all because the sound wasn't that neat, and because Chino's voice was struggling at that point of the last leg of that tour... Their great performance wednesday night at Metropolis erased all of that in a blink of an eye! The sound was crystal clear, the pounding bass, high hats and snares punished my earings and crushed my spine like a real bulldozer. Chino's voice and the band's energy were running in high spirits, the whole set list was amazingly awesome, well balanced and astounding. I can't go any further without mentionning the psychedelic visuals that were pure entertainment and matching every songs. They rocked us for an a hour and 45 minutes, closing the set by integrating Katy Perry's hit single Fireworks in the encore...a funny note to end a perfect evening!

Deftones were good, venue was not

    by refer23 on 2011-05-06Métropolis - Montreal

I couldn't allow myself to enjoy this concert due to the horrible venue. I was in the second row, on the floor; I wanted to be as close to the band as possible. However, I was incredibly disappointed at how hectic the mosh-pit became. Really? Why would you want to mosh to such incredibly beautiful sounds? Being pushed and basically torn apart on the floor took away from the beauty of music and the beauty of watching the Deftones perform. There was no other place I wanted to be than on the floor, watching Chino closely, yet I couldn't have done so without having my body mangled by a crowd of savages. Aren't the Deftones a more mellow experience? Wouldn't you prefer to bask in the sounds? They certainly were not meant to be experienced in such a brutal way.

    Deftones blew my mind

by Anonymous on 2011-05-06Sound Academy - Toronto

I've seen the Deftones numerous times over the years, and this was by far the best I've ever seen them. They were intense, loud, energetic, and engaging- and played songs from all of their albums. I cannot say enough good things about how great this show was and what a good time I had.

    Deftones = Sex

by OlivePower on 2011-05-05Sound Academy - Toronto

Deftones is a must see live. The opening act, Dillinger esc plan, commanded the stage like it was their last night on earth. The energy they poured into their show engaged the crowd and made you want to jump out of your seat and rock out. The Deftones seduced with every lull and scream Chino unleashed on the crowd. Blasting the stage with Diamond Eyes and closing the show with a crowd favorite 7 Words. The stage was simply set up, the sound crisp and loud, and the crowd was crazed and wild. Perfect for a band like the Deftones. Looking forward to seeing them in Boca.

    Deftones are the best!

by laflordivina on 2011-05-05Sound Academy - Toronto

They performed a signature Deftones show with tonnes of energy and passion. From the very first song, they were in it and the crowd was in it. Chino walked onto the stage with no sound and no lights and then boomed into Diamond Eyes. It was intense. When Passenger's first notes started to play, the crowd's energy picked up even more. And suddenly, a new voice is heard to fill in for Maynard's part. It's Greg Puciato, the lead singer of DEP. He sounded amazing and between him and Chino, they took that performance to another level. I loved everything about this show.

    The Boys Play HARD!!!!!!

by Bmicmac on 2011-05-05Sound Academy - Toronto

Wicked show...some old stuff, some of their newer stuff...wicked set. The came out really hard and one song bled to the next. Hard to believe Chino can still scream after all these years...dude is getting up their. The fortunate thing is they are already writing and recording for a new album which means they will be touring again. Even if you think they are "OK", you will love them after seeing them live.

    freakin amazin is an understatement!!!

by moetown on 2011-04-21Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This was my second time seeing them live, after the first time (at Somersault in 2000 at BC place), I was so infatuated with the band, I went out and bought all of their CDs. Although I never stopped loving them, I do feel that this show has reignited the fire. I haven't stopped listening to the deftones since the show. They played a mixture of their classics as well as the new hits from diamond eyes. The only bad part was that it had to end... Can't wait until they come back.

    Impressive and deliciously loud.

by aghostdream on 2011-04-21Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I'm a huge, huge, Deftones fan. I saw them at Rogers Arena and I was determined to see them closer, so the Commodore was a perfect venue. I was right up front against the barriers. I had never listened to much of Dillinger Escape Plan before, but this show convinced me I need more of them. Their performance was unbelievable. The stage presence; wow! The guitarist Ben Weinman was doing the craziest stunts, swinging his guitar around his arm, standing on the crowd barriers and almost falling in.. And the vocalist, Greg Puciato, was right in there with the fans too. The lights were amazing and really coordinated well with the music. As for Deftones, I cannot say anything negative about them. Chino was right there close to us the entire time and their stage presence is unbelievable as well. The sound quality was tops, even though my metalhead friend said this was the loudest show he'd ever been to, and this is a guy with extensive hearing loss due to too much metal. They played a lot of old material as well, which I was super impressed with, and I'm sure other die-hard fans were too. Deftones reek of sex and you can definitely feel it during their shows.
