About

As the country music superstar behind an estimated 100 million album sales, a successful film career, and her very own theme park Dollywood, Dolly Parton is one of American music’s most enduring icons. On tour in 2013 Parton continued to captivate fans with her engaging live concerts, treating ticket buyers to career-spanning sets of her greatest hits peppered with compelling personal stories while building anticipation for the release of her 42nd studio album in 2014. Parton released her 41st studio album Better Day in 2011, a country-dance hybrid that topped charts around the world and spawned the hit single “Together You and I”. After a musical childhood in the Great Smoky Mountains, Parton headed for Nashville the day after her high school graduation, eventually achieving mainstream success in the early ‘70s with a string of No. 1 hits including “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You”. It’s hard to overstate the scope of Parton’s accomplishments since then – from 25 No. 1 singles to the blockbuster success of films like 9 to 5 and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, she 's become a beloved household name and recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

    LOVE, LIGHT AND SEQUINS!

by alloha on 2016-09-25Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Altho' Rogers Arena is cramped, Dolly made me feel spacious and uplifted. Everything about this woman is beautiful~~Her face, her laugh, her body, her VOICE-wow... The 3-hr. concert was as stated, "pure and simple" with only 3 accompanying musicians and 1 handsome cowboy bringing myriad instruments to Dolly. I counted 8 instruments that Dolly played, and played well! ( All of them white and adorned with sequins...) Quite often, the 3 back up men would gather around Dolly and sing into 1 mike with mountain harmonies. She sings with so much honesty and purity that you really feel like a close friend. It was so good to hear her early songs and stories about her upbringing in the Smoky Mountains. I laughed and cried and didn't want the concert to end. Everybody loves Dolly!

Poor sound, lots of cheap chat and little music

by Eugenaltfel on 2016-09-25Rogers Place - Edmonton

White trash jokes, poor setup, horrible sound. The only plus was the new building. Dolly can sing, but she also thinks her jokes are funny - they are not, and made the night extremely boring. Songs were OK.

Dolly Parton good conert crappy sound

    by Beth2 on 2016-09-24Rogers Place - Edmonton

Dolly sang and talked about her old songs which was great but the sound sucked. There was an echo plus you could not hear her when she talked. Big disappointment after looking forward to seeing her in the new Roger's Place

    Fabulous entertainer

by purplelover on 2016-09-24Rogers Place - Edmonton

Dolly was a fabulous entertainer. Would definitely go to another concert of hers if she comes back to Edmonton. Really enjoyed how she told her life story and singing all her songs to go with the story she was telling at the time. Was amazed at how many instruments she can play. This is not about the show itself but you should know that the steps to our seats are steep, very steep. In fact, the arena attendant told us to be very careful and hang on to the rail.

    Dolly Parton was great!

by Weddingsinger on 2016-09-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I was really blown away by Dolly's charm and ease with the audience - and how funny she is! She has a wonderful, evocative and emotional singing style and is a fantastic song writer. And I was impressed when she not only played guitar but also dulcimer, autoharp (and not the way we played it at school!), whistle, banjo, saxophone and piano. A really terrific evening. The only drawbacks were the beer drinkers in front of us who continually left to get another round for the row and the people too busy taking selfies with each other to watch the show. Really distracting. Why do people go to concerts if they aren't going to listen to the music?

    Dolly is Amazing!

by JeanAnn on 2016-09-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Loved the Concert - and we were very pleased that the entire night was just Dolly. No opening Act etc, just all Dolly. Just wish she had Big Screens set up like other Artists so we could get a closer look at her performing.

    Dolly - Pure and Simple

by NinaG on 2016-09-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

From her opening song until the last strains of music were heard, Dolly delighted her listeners. Painting pictures in her stories and songs Dolly shared her childhood memories and her heart with us. We felt like we knew her by the end of the evening, her faith and humor shining through all night. The only thing we would have changed would be that we would love to have had a screen so we could see her a little closer. I would highly recommend a Dolly Parton concert any day. What you will get is beautiful music, pure and simple.

by GESimp on 2016-09-22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Pure and Simple was the name of her concert she was all that. Singing all your favourite songs with her band. She had no special effects SHE DOES NOT NEED that. She writes beautiful songs and tells you the story behind them.

    Fabulous concert, awful venue!

by MustangGirlAB on 2016-09-22Rogers Place - Edmonton

Dolly Parton was amazing. At 70 years old, her voice and energy level were the sameys she has had since she started. She put on a terrific show full of wonderful stories and terrific music. The Rogers Place on the other hand is a dismal disappointment. Where there is supposed to be free parking on the weekend is zoned as no parking. The parkade is a joke. The toilets had no pressure to flush, there were no hangers on the doors. The cost of drinks and food is beyond ridiculous and the entry/exit process is ludicrous. Unless Elvis comes back from the dead and doesn't play in Calgary, I won't be back to this stupidly expensive, poorly located, expensive disappointment of a venue.

    Dolly Parton is Country Royalty

by kebby on 2016-09-22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The concert was a lovely experience. Dolly's voice was pure and clear as a bell. Certainly did not sound like a 70 year old. She is also a great entertainer. Great interaction with the audience. Loved it! What I didn't love was the canned drums! Sounded like some of the songs were sung with a sound track. Not what you want to hear when you see someone live.

    WOW*****!

by zzjazz on 2016-09-22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Loved this concert! Funny, warmhearted, fantastic music that defines our lives.....! This was a very generous concert- 2 hours, 20 minute break, another hour. A solid, enthusiastic, energetic concert from start to finish. I think my favourite part was the a capella, soulful, bluegrass pieces that took my breath away. Not just saying that because I'm descended from the original settlers of the Tennesee Valley :)

    You go girl!

    by Vancity40 on 2016-09-22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Dolly was amazing, full of energy and sparkle! She sang all her hits and the new songs were very good as well. Her voice is strong and clear and just as good as in past years. She puts on a wonderful show full of stories about her childhood and her early years starting out in the business. It felt very intimate like we were in a much smaller venue. Great show!

    Dolly Parton is Adorable!

by TaniaT on 2016-09-22Rogers Place - Edmonton

Dolly Parton is so adorable! This lady is a legend her talent is amazing! She looked awesome and her voice was as beautiful as ever! The new Rogers place is lovely but the transportation issues (eg) taxis and passenger loading zones for pick up and drop off for personal rides as well as uber and tapp car. This is a problem that needs to be addresses very soon to make things run a little more smoothly.
