About

DR SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story."

  • Annoying and loud

My kids and I did not enjoy this play at all. The music was not catchy, the costumes were weird and we couldn’t wait for it to be over. I really feel like I wasted almost $500 on something I thought would create a core memory but instead just annoyed me for an hour and a half.

My friend and I with our two 9 year old daughters, thoroughly enjoyed this musical. I would recommend it to any age or gender. It was very well done and had some pretty fun parts. It was somewhat interactive as well which I wasn't expecting but enjoyed.

  • Fantastic Show!

by Buznbro on 2014-12-31The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, the performance was great with awesome energy displayed by the actors. We had great seats with nice, unobstructed sight lines. It was our first time to this theatre and found the decor/layout to be pretty good. The only blemish was the late arrivals and the fact that the usher posted near where we were sitting would talk to the late arrivals in a normal voice all while the performance was in full swing. This was understandably very distracting. As well, the various attendees who completely ignored the "no taking video/pictures" rule which is clearly explained prior to the show starting. We were amazed that a women a few rows away was able to get away with video taping most of the show without ever being challenged by any of the staff.

This is a shockingly low rent production for something so pricey.

  • Dr. Seuss was cute...

by Anonymous on 2011-02-19Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

This was a cute musical. Great for families with kids - but not great for adult audiences (I'm in my late 20's).... The Grinch delivered an exceptional performance, I definitely wouldn't of liked it as much if it wasn't for him. 3 stars may be a bit harsh, but I am comparing it to other musicals which have played in Toronto, including "Les Miserables", "Wicked", "Dirty Dancing", etc. Again - great musical for kids.

  • The Grinch rocked!

We really enjoyed the The Grinch Musical at the Sony Centre. I would love it if they brought it back next Christmas! There were 3 generations of us that watched the show and all of us had a great laugh. The actor who played the Grinch was amazing and our daughter loved Cindy Lou! The way the actors, particularly the Grinch and Old Max, got the audience involved was fabulous. We all left there feeling the true sense of Christmas - Thank you!!

This was a great play. I brought my 6 year old daughter and my 11 year old niece and they both loved it. I thought it was so cute. The production was really well done. A few days later I saw Disney on Ice and I liked this show much more.

  • How the Grinch (and Cindy Lou) Stole the Show

by BMir on 2011-01-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What an excellent show. We were worried that our kids (4 and 5 years old) would not like the show/not get the show/be scared out of their wits, but we were wrong. They absolutley LOVED it!! The Grinch was fantastic. He kept the audience, especially the children entertained and engaged with his performance. He was funny and scary and lovable all in one. The other star of the show was the little girl who played Cindy Lou. She was incredible. We had a great time.

This was a wonderful musical to watch during the holidays. The acting, singing & stage set up were great. I would have given this musical a 5 star rating but there was no intermission. I noticed towards the last half hour of the musical, some kids were getting restless. An hour & a half may be too long to sit especially for the little ones. Other than that, the Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas cast put on a wonderful performance.

  • Grinch was good!

by Anonymous on 2011-01-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall the Grinch musical was really good. There were some slow moments for myself and my 5 year old son - for example, when it was only the adults singing. He would have prefered to have Grinch on the stage the entire show of course :) We sat on the balcony which was too far for this type of show. Next time I'll definitely get floor seats to get a better view. Breakfast before the show was good. I would definitely recommend this show to other families!
