About

DR SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story."

The kids loved it! The casting of the Grinch, and both old and young Max was spot on! The kids continued to sing some of the songs afterwards. Very well done!

Definitely ranks high on my list! The costumes, the background sets, the small details, the singing, the actors...nothing was spared on this show. Loved every moment of the show! As I was leaving the show, I was thinking...I want to see it again and again!

  • Funny Show!

by SandyD on 2010-12-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

It was really enjoyable to watch. The kids had fun too and they laughed a lot at Mr. Grinch. The effects were cool too! Glad we went, but the tickets, in my opinion, were a little over-priced. So was the merchandise! Especially the Grinch stuffed toy which I paid $45 for. Ouch!! Never again.

  • The Grinch was the star of the show

by mvrz2000 on 2010-12-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Such a wonderful musical! I loved how the audience was involved. Great costumes and sets... but the star of the show was the Grinch.. you couldn't keep your eyes off of him, every wag of his fingers was entertaining!!! My only one complaint was that the speakers were too loud..I imagine that theaters are designed to carry sound.. I highly recommend the show, but also bringing some ear plugs and a jacket (unusually cold in the theater.)

  • How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Stole My Money!

by Victorio on 2010-12-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The new Sony Centre did not live up to the hype. The seats were not very comfortable, they were tight and the cup holder, made it hard to get comfortable and move around people. (not very pleased with the seats). The room was very cold and drafty, had to keep my coat on to stay warm and older gentlemen in our party had to keep their hats on to avoid the draft on their heads. The sound was not very good and too load many times. At times it was hard making out what was being said or sung as the loudness was not very clear. Lastly it was way too much money for a much shorter show.

  • Great family entertainment

by Suse on 2010-12-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a wonderful performance and the whole family enjoyed it from start to finish. The plot involved some creative moments building on the original storyline. And it was brilliant to see Max as the narrator.

  • great musical

by vanessa123 on 2010-12-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the music and the way the story was portrayed. I was worried that because there were so many children in the audience (we went to the 2pm show) that it would be very noisy. However, the kids seemed to be mesmorized by what was happening on stage and there wasn't any chatter at all. The costumes were wonderful (very Who-like) and the Grinch was absolutely amazing! I have seen "How the Grinch Stole Xmas" countless times since I was a kid and this actor was so totally Grinchlike: articulate, funny, and totally believable. He really WAS the star of the show. The two Max's kept the story moving and the ensemble and Cindy Loo Who were delightful. It really was a wonderful show

  • The Grinch was great

Very Very funny, great singing, great costumers and great seats.

  • Average @ Best

by Adelaideski on 2010-12-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The Grinch and his elderly dog saved the show. Cindy Lou hung in there. Beyond that it was a lot of over-acting, some weak costumes, average sets and forced lines.

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas was wonderful!

by 5littleboys on 2010-12-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I loved how they kept the colours, graphics and costumes as close as possible to the book and to the cartoon! The main characters were outstanding!! The vocals where clear and well understood and "whos" of all ages are able to follow the easy storyline! I like that there was no intermission and the Sony Centre is the perfect venue because you can see and hear very well from all seats! Some parts (near the beginning) were a bit slow. Perhaps some more excitement and/or drama at the beginning, including more audience (kid) participation, will liven it up. The grinch was amazing and once he engaged the audience, it really took off! Very well done! With just a few "tweaks" it will be amazing! Thanks for a wonderful show!

Far too long for kids. Not great by my standards. Players were wonderful though! Absolutely would not recommend this show!
