About

DR SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story."

  • Grinch stole the show!

by AAAstar on 2011-01-01Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great family show. Well staged, cute costumes. The little girl who played Cindy Loo Who was amazing-strong voice. But Stefan Karl, who plays Grinch was perfection. Didn't realize till afterward that he was Robbie Rotten in the Lazytown series from Iceland-loved that show! I would recommend this musical-especially for all ages. Our group was 7-70.

Terrific for all ages. Young and Old. The Grinch was very funny. I was worried he may be a little scary but he was funny scary if that makes sense. I would go again. The entire cast was great. It was alot of fun and we had some great laughs. The audience involvement was a nice touch. The message was also clear, even for the younger audience. Christmas is not all about presents. It is nice to be reminded of that sometimes. Give it a try! You will not regret it.

The Grinch was fabulous ... so well done! From the costumes to the singing to the characters ... everything about it was wonderfully entertaining! It stayed true to the original Dr. Seuss' version ... so happy we went ... loved the gently falling snow onto the first few rows of the audience!

Our family enjoyed the play. All the characters were good. Especially the Grinch. This part was played very well. He would include the audience. This was good. The little girl that played one of the Ho's was very good too. Very good play for the whole family

this was a definite "must see" for any Grinch enthusiast - the costumes wer excellent and the songs and singing very nice - but the actor playing the Grinch was Excellent - he plays it between the cartoon and the movie version - he was Fantastic!! I would definitely recommend this play to anyone who is a fan of Who's and Grinch's

  • Not worth the money

The play was cute but I don't think it was worth the price. It came across as amateur when I was expecting a spectacular entertaining show. The kids found it dragged in places. The stage set was not very inventive.

the play was really well done. the children enjoyed the whole experience. costumes and characters were truly animated and the audience participation was a bonus especially for the little ones who were a little skittish when the Grinch came on stage. well done!

The Grinch perfromance exceeded my expectations! Stefan Karl is an incredibly versatile actor who gave a delightful performance. The 3 kids (ages 5,7, and 8) I had in my group were especially entertained!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was a rip roaring good time. From the whimsical set designs to the conceited Grinch himself, this show had you laughing out loud. Max, (old and young),were fabulous and the Old Max sounded just like the original singer from the cartoon. Little Cindy Lou Who is deemed for stardom, she was cute as a button and was the darling of the show. My family and I had a great time and would highly recommend this play. Great job everyone!

Too loud for kids under the age of 4 which should have been advertised. There was no real need for it to be so loud. A wasted event for me and my daughter who was so excited only to get scared and disappointed. I saw other parents in the same situation.

  • Stefan Karl played the Grinch to perfection!

by Tat1 on 2010-12-30Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Neither my husband nor I are big fans of musicals but we decided to go as a family and see Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas for a seasonal outing. It was superb. Our five-year old daughter loves the animated version and she was captivated by the musical as well. There was no intermission so for her to sit through the whole production (about an hour and a half) without a peep speaks for itself. Stefan Karl as the Grinch was amazing!

The show was fa-nominal, the interaction with the children was amazing. The characters really made the show come to life and responsive with the audience.

  • Dr. Seuss' was fantastic!

by viole on 2010-12-30Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Overall it was a wonderful experience. I took my 2 friends who are big fans of Dr. Seuss' and it was their childhood favourite. We were dreading a little going to an event full of kids. But the kids were very well behaved. During the musical, there were a lot of interaction between the actors and audience, and the interaction was very well controlled. The musical was amusing, funny and heart warming. The Grinch was really well played, fully expressed the character and yet did not go overboard, to a point where you would fear or hate him.

The whole family loved this stage adaptation of a holiday fav. The kids we're glued to the stage from beginning to end.

  • by Anonymous on 2010-12-30Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The kids in the audience enjoyed it, so I would recommend to others, only if they had children. But, compared to the level of other shows put on in TO, this was disappointing. I realize it is a touring company, but still, we expected more.
