About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

  • Et voila!

An incredible show! His IQ and comedic timing are unmatched! And, I don't know of a single other performer who would grace the audience with a casual Q&A in the lobby after the show.

  • Sightly disappointed

We were in row 27, so we couldn't really see the facial expressions Eddie, which would have gone a long way to understanding him. Sound wasn't loud enough. Would have benefitted hugely by a BIG tv in the background.

  • Eddie Izzard Rules!!

    by Scouser22 on 2013-12-05Orpheum Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie Izzard is possibly the funniest, wittiest, cleverest, most intelligent comedian out there today. For 2 hours he had a sold out crowd in the palm of his hand - he could do no wrong and it was loved and appreciated by all. Wouldn't have missed it for the world and I flew out from Toronto just to see him!

Good show. Izzard has that unique delivery reserved for comedians who don't have to rely on profanity to create humour. Clever, interesting and informative humour. His ramblings that go "off script" have an uncanny way of making sense, but leave you suspended waiting for the penny to drop.

  • Dissappointing

by Livtastic on 2013-12-05Orpheum Theatre - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

A long-time fan of Eddie Izzard (and British), I have to say I was really dissappointed with this show. It was a bit all over the place, and I really just didnt find him funny. I probably laughed about 5 times during the whole show and at some points I was confused about where he was in his stories, the point or the joke. I considered leaving early but stuck around. Maybe he was tierd in Vancouver but I thought it was a lack-lustre performance with too many references to the Nazi's (I lost count)

  • Eddie Izzard Amazing

by Maeverjo on 2013-12-05Orpheum Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Venue and show were both spectacular. Its impressive that he can talk and talk for about an hour and a half, have a break and then come back for more. I love how he makes things relevent to the area\country where he is performing but also refers back to some of his past, popular skits (God and Vadar in the Canteen - excellant!)

  • Eddie Izzard in Vangroovy

by SkiChick on 2013-12-05Orpheum Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Great show overall and would recommend if you are a fan. I had read beforehand that there is material which is hard to follow and this was the case - as he is talking about small towns in the UK, so you don't know why it's funny. Would be funnier for people from the UK - just too local for North Americans to follow and I'm originally from Australia so I was just as lost. Great follow up to his famous Death Star material - youtube it if you haven't seen it. Sound was hard to hear when he was mumbling/quietly saying the end of his punch lines and we mentioned it to the sound guy who fixed it and turned it up louder during the Intermission. Some parts funnier than others but I guess you can't expect to be funny for over 2 hours to every person in the place. Overall a great performance and I would see him again when he has new material.

The title tells you that this show has all of Eddie's wonderful surrealism and energetic imagination. Polished, fascinating and hilarious. We were also treated to an after show Q&A in the lobby which felt like an early Christmas present. An honour to see Eddie at work!

  • Eddie Izzard always rocks!

by Dinofangirl on 2013-11-29Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

As usual, Eddie Izzard delivered a hilarious performance that had a great balance of craziness and material that makes one think. Have seen him several times and he never disappoints!

  • Eddy Izzard a bit long-winded

    by Dave710 on 2013-11-29Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

He has some good jokes but needs a good editor to create more structure and a shorter program. Also he swallows some of his better lines so there is a lot of - What did he say? I think he needs to rehearse and plan to get the best out of himself which could be very very good. Also as a Brit in Winnipeg I got some of the clearly very parochial jokes, he needs to evaluate his audiences background I doubt if many Canadians are educated in early English history. Too much Royal Family of little interest to most Canadians.

  • Eddie Izzard is Brilliant!

by ConsequenceFree on 2013-11-29Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

A comedic master - fluid and unforgettable. Watching him mold his sketches live on stage was mesmerizing. And oh, so funny! We have a cat named Mr. Stevens! Highly recommend!

  • I'd put on my high heels.

by WingmanMB on 2013-11-29Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie provided a whimsical romp. A fantastic story teller, I hung on his every word. I own every DVD of his and most of the shows content felt fresh. He talked forever and my sides hurt. Still the venue needs some work as a mouse fart makes it difficult to clearly hear him in the balconies.

  • Save your money

by ComedyFan2013 on 2013-11-27Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

Not one laugh, not one. I have seen past videos and portions of his comedy online and I actually found him to be pretty funny and worth a try, that was a big mistake. This is the first time I have ever walked out of a show, and I was not the only one who did. After about 25 minutes we were done. If I had even laughed once in that time I would have tried to stick it out, but not even once. Use the money you would pay for a single Izzard ticket to buy tickets for yourself and a couple friends at a local comedy club, you will have a lot more fun. Charlie Murphy just moved up one step on the live comedy failure list, Eddie easily takes last place.

  • Meh...

by JBCalgary on 2013-11-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I've heard Eddie's stuff before and thought he was hilarious. In person, he came off as a rambling fool. We left at intermission...

  • Eddie Izzard is one of a kind

by Slinkee on 2013-11-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

He's intelligent. He's fast-thinking. He's got a rapier-like wit....and he was probably wearing heels higher than I can manage! He's my hero. The show was very entertaining and at no point was it anything resembling moribund (Eddie's word). Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Only regret is not buying tickets earlier so as to have had a chance for closer seats.

  • So talented

by PenS on 2013-11-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

We've been fans forever, so I had thought there may be some repetition of old gags. But no - I have no idea how Eddie continually comes up with great innovative new material. My sides ached all the way home from laughing. He's very special.

  • eddie Izzard amazing

Absolutely hilarious, the man's mind works in mysterious but hilarious ways. Never knew what was coming out of his mouth next.

  • I laughed so hard I cried!

by LovedEddieIzzard on 2013-11-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie Izzard was hilarious. He seemed somewhat miffed by Calgary's ability to keep up with him but I think we were right there with him, we're just Canadian... not too raucous. He's a great performer and I'd see him again!

  • by Anonymous on 2013-11-27Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Great show by Eddie Izzard. Builds on previous shows so some people may be lost at parts but, other than that, great!

  • Eddie Izzard - Calgary

OK, but difficult to follow at times, and quite tiring. Lots of "in-jokes" based on what I later learned were previous performances in years gone by, fine for those who have seen him before, but not so useful for first timers. Preferred the post-interval stuff covering the olympics etc. Bit too highbrow at times.
