glad to see Northlands out of there

by antyneets on 2010-07-27City Centre Airport - Edmonton

What a shock to see so many grandstands not there. I want my seats back on turn 1, that is were all the action is. I can not believe that Northlands can lose that many fans. Very poor management. Price of tickets is not the reason, look at the price of Oiler tickets and that is for just one evening, 3 hrs and the race is all day, home nice and early or time to party if that is what you want. Look at how many kids are at the hockey games and look how many games there are in a season I loved the races, was there for all 3 days, morning to night. The racing was a 5 star We have 3 yrs to find a place for the race, why not move it to Capital Raceway and have more there . It is not to far to go and look at the sucess they have with their races.

Have gone to all CART/Champ/Indy races in Edmonton. Fabulous venue and will be back again next year. Do believe, however, that the organizers need to think about splitting up races between Saturday and Sunday. I recognize that TV probably dictates times etc but the event does need another race on Saturday. Miss the Can-AM (?) race that was held 3/4 four years ago.

honda Indy Edmonton - 3 day grandstand pass

by MissPenguin on 2010-07-27City Centre Airport - Edmonton

I gave the average rating because our seats were changed. We use to sit right at Turn 1 and now sit in front of the pits. I really missed our old seats and also feel we are now sitting to low for the view from our new seats. The seats are also very close together making it hard to be anywhere near comfortable. It seems there are less food vendors to choose from with long line ups at all. The Incy race was much better than last year - lots of passing and other things going on.

Phenomenal event, loud cars, solid racing, fighter jets, excellent giant TV screen setup to catch the bits you couldn't see directly. All in all great race, howver getting out of there afterwards was a disaster, the main thoroughfare for fans to leave the event was blocked off by officials when the race ended. This stranded thousands of fans trying to leave until every race car had left the pits and gone through this thoroughfare back to the paddock. Why would they have not waited till the fans cleared out? Otherwise though it was a great day!

    Tokers and spoiled brats

by KEVING on 2010-07-27City Centre Airport - Edmonton

The view was excellent from the top of the platform but marijuana smokers and spoiled little girls that had gotten there on there daddys money made the experience mediocre at best.

    Edmonton Indy was HOT

by Achip on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

Had a great time at Edmonton Indy, did the park and ride thing about 9am, no wait, no wait on return either. Seating was excellent, we could see well over 80% of the track. Weather was excellent, lines were a little long for cool drinks and food, no line ups for the bathrooms.

Hope the new Montreal group will do a better job

by yeg111 on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

We have supported this Edmonton event from the first year. We always got seats in the grandstand by turn 1. Apparently we were not as important as the rvs so they moved the grandstand to be along the pit lane - towards the end of the pit lane, afterall the VIP club seats get the best part of the pit lane. We enjoyed the race, but would have to re-consider our continued support if they do not move the grandstands back to turns 1,2 & 3. Hope the Montreal group will do a better job than Northlands!

    Race was great

by EMINEM on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

Thank God Northlands is finally out of the picture. A horrible display of what a City run department can screwup!! It is embarrasing to think that is all they could come up with. Private Enterprize will undoublty be a little more expensive but the Venue will be full of product and foods/drinks to buy.

    Indy Edmonton ...a must see.

by frogbait on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

Negatives: Changing seating so gold seating no longer on turn 1. Very bad move that will stop many borderline fans from returning. Need more cooling stations (misting) Need more variety in food Need more shaded rest areas Put speakers at top of grandstands for slightly better hearing Positives: Great racing experience! Friendliness and approachability of Indy staff and especially GTP drivers and crew Good weather and good crowd atmosphere

Nice atmosphere, but a little too expensive.

by music000 on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

The atmosphere at the Honda Indy Edmonton is great. It's all about cars, you can almost feel the speed when you hear the loud engines passing by. There are also lots of concessions, exhibitions, souvenir stores and, why not, good looking models wearing the colors of their teams or stores. Now let's be honest, watching the cars passing by over and over becomes boring unless you're cheering for a driver or team, especially if it's only a qualifying race. I found the whole event to be, in my opinion, very expensive and good to be for a couple of hours only. The price of admission can be quite expensive if you want to have seats, and at the end of the day you won't really spend much time seating. The price of souvenirs, food and drinks was also extremely expensive. I would recommend to think twice before you spend money on a seating. If not cheering for anybody, you can pay just standing general admission and you will still be able to enjoy the atmosphere, concessions, exhibitions and even see the cars from a couple of spots. I would like to continue having the Indy in Edmonton every year because is an exciting alternative for a summer day out. But with the current pricing of the event, I'm looking at it as a one-time thing, at least for me. One final comment is regarding the park & ride service that ETS provided. My experience this time was not very good because there were not clear signs as to where to go. When the bus dropped us off, nobody knew where to walk to the entrance; actually we started walking in the wrong direction and then had to come all the way back. When exiting, we asked several bus drivers where to take ours, and nobody knew. We had to walk and walk until we finally discovered where the correct bus stop was.

    Honda Indy 2010 - disappointing

by Anonymous on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

For the past few years, our seats were at the west side. This year, those stands were removed and our seats were moved to C-I section. Did not like this site as well as previous. Turns 1, 2 & 3 were far away whereas before, we were seated right there. A view of the pits was not enough to make up for this change. Found it very, very expensive with poor food. Will not be renewing for all 3 days again.

    Honda Indy Edmonton disappointing

by Muffey on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

The reason it was disppointing was where the seats were located. We were in the Bud Zone VIP zone we thought we have bleacher seats and a tent covering over completely you could not see the event unless you were standing and then you could barely see. Not a great experience

    Awsome Indy

by engraver on 2010-07-26City Centre Airport - Edmonton

Great event for the whole family. Well, run, great site lines and loads of excitement. I will be very disappointed if the Cities' position on the Airport puts the race in jeopardy.
