Edmonton Oilers History
The origin of the Oilers goes back to 1972, when they were one of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association. Once the league folded in 1979, they were one of four teams absorbed into the National Hockey League. It didn't take long for them to establish dominance in the league, reeling off five Stanley Cup Championships in seven years. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the most championships since the NHL-WHA merger.
The Oilers of the '80s were a phenomenal dynasty with a roster that reads like the Hockey Hall of Fame: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, plus a stellar supporting cast. Gretzky scored 92 goals in 1982, breaking Phil Esposito’s record for number of goals in a single season. He also recorded a record 215 points in 1985. During his time with the Oilers as centre and team captain, Gretzky led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). By the time Gretzky finished his time with the Oilers, he held or shared a total of 49 NHL records.
In all, the Edmonton Oilers have appeared in the Stanley Cup Final seven times.

Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place
NHL superstar Connor McDavid and NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier opened the doors to the spectacular Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton in October 2016. McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers bring excitement to Rogers Place nightly, with the statue of The Great One standing guard just outside. The state-of-the-art Rogers Place replaced the aging Rexall Place, and resulted in an explosion of business and residential growth in downtown's ICE District.
The Edmonton Oilers’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, when the Oilers face off against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers take on Alberta rivals the Calgary Flames in the 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on October 29. The team plays their final game of the regular season at home against Western Conference opponents the Colorado Avalanche. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

It was a great game because i went to watch the habs and they beat the pilers 5-2 lol
From obtaining the tickets to venue service everything was absolutely wonderful and wonderfully easy.
-broken scoreboard screen -rude staff -not enough bathrooms -poor drink choices -terrible excitement
Was great we got a upgrade to the suites so it was an amazing experience thank you
Best experience in a wonderful facility. Would love to see Hunter in the audience more. Please play more Rock music during the games to pump up the energy. The band was awesome but the music they chose was too soft and not excited for hockey games. Over all is still the best arena.
My husband and I came from out of Province to see the game. We had a wonderful experience considering all the restrictions in place. Loved the band and had a chance to meet Hunter and Chelsea! The "show" was well put on too. With an overtime win as a bonus. Thanks for having us!
Rogers Place is a awesome venue! Seating is comfortable and lots of food and beverage stations.
This was the worst experience I have ever had at an oilers hockey game. No food or drinks. Which was the whole reason I bought the sportsnet section ticket. Instead was given oilers bucks so was forced to spend it on merchandise? Ridiculous. Really not happy to he honest
Sure a 6-0 loss can make anyone unhappy. But beside the losing, the experience wasnt any better unfortunately. With half capacity, no food, no drinks, it was almost boring. There was no cheering, no excitment, sure we were on a losing streak, but my suggestion is wait to go to a normal game again and dont waste your money on a covid game. Worst hockey game i have ever been to, and i love going to the games and watching the oil win or lose!
Really enjoyed the game. Watching live we could see that Brendan Perlini is a great player who should be a 1st line winger. Tyler Mcleod is also great as second line center. Looking forward to the Oilers promoting these players from within as they progress to the next level as a team.
Evrrything was great minus the lady who show us our isle and seat made some really bad comment about unvaccinated people. I understand you might not feel good about some people but the unvaccinated in the arena are the only one with a negative test ..... so not sure why she had to make bad comment when there is kids around and family and everyone feel safe
enjoyed the experience but it was spoiled by having to wear that stupid mask this is the most ridiculous thing it does no good and it took away from having a good time
Tickets worked smoothly no glitches. Rogers Centre was great. One of the best in person games I have seen. So much better than TV. Best of all Bruins won!
I’m by a Bruin fan at an Oilers home game, minding my own business, not in anyones face about my team. Unfortunately a son taking his father to a game sitting next to me didn’t like that I’m cheering for Bruins. The son started drinking beer and getting obnoxious. Turning his head to burp at me after each drink, there was no one sitting next to me, so after first period I moved over a seat and told the jerk I’ll give you some room. Didn’t stop asshole, kept drinking beer(6i think) burping at me and being an ass. Game over, Bruins win 3-2, Asshole decides to take a swing at me, misses, falls down. His dad starts getting all puffed up and as I make sure I step on his sons hand on the floor as I’m trying to get around him I tell his dad, don’t try it old man! Security saw the whole exchange and asked if I needed help, I said I was fine, he’s had way too much to drink, and left. I’ve been to every CFL stadium wearing Rider colours, several NHL clubs wearing Bruin gear, first time I’ve ever had some one try to take a swing at me. Congrats Edmonton, you are now worse than Winnipeg for opposing fan experience. And I’ve even worn a Red Sox jersey at Yankee stadium so that’s saying a lot!
Oilers game was a disaster but I have to say that I came more for the experience, to see people, to feel alive again. Very impressed how well the vaccine scan went and everything else, didn’t feel a bit stressed or worried. I will definitely be back to Rogers Place
Fantastic experience celebrating milestone birthdays…
The game was great! The Oilers are having a great year! I’m not sure why Rogers Place can’t open a bit earlier so we could eat and shop before the game. Even Molson Hockey House, why isn’t it open sooner?
Seat selection was good, buying the tickets from Ticketmaster was seamless and using the app to present the ticket at the gate worked well.
As we approached Rogers Place you could feel the excitement among the fans approaching the building. Those vibes were magnified ten fold as we entered the arena; lights were flashing, a band was playing, and pre-game tension was all around us. As the players came on to the ice the sound was deafening and everyone jumped to their feet to welcome the Oilers to the ice. Continuous flashing lights and neon was everywhere and it was like being in Vegas. Ice level seats were amazing. The action was right there in front of us and the speed of the game was astounding. Being up close and personal to players like McDavid, Dreiseitl, Kassian, Nugent-Hopkins, Yamamoto, and Puljujarvi is indescribable and this entire father and sons experience left a lasting impression.
My sister and I flew on from WPG and took my 89 year old Uncle to the game. We were given priority access and the process was seamless. Ended up with Club seats which was seriously AMAZING!!!
