    Anna Karenina was SENSATIONAL!

by tallcollector on 2015-04-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I also attended the pre-show talk and that was extremely helpful in understanding the times in Russia, the characters from the novel, and of course the author, Tolstoy. The ballet, the dancers, the costuming and sets were stunning. I purchased a fabulous seat and had a great evening! Thank-you to Showone Productions for bringing this event to Toronto.

An Amazing Rendition Of A Classic Story

by AGDanceLover on 2015-04-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Superb choreography and dancing, but most of all -- incredible presentation of emotions and sharing them with the audience. Also, the art of story telling -- even if you had never heard of Anna Karenina, you would have understood what was going on as clearly as if you were reading printed words. And the crescendo at the ending was powerful, creative, unexpected, and unforgettable.

    Anna Karenina

by Merrill on 2015-04-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Enthralling dances the lifts, the pacing and partnerships among the three leads - Karenin, Anna and Vronsky - the stark and effective sets, and the contrasts in music.

    Outstanding performance

by AlexZ on 2015-04-25Sony Center - Toronto

I am not the biggest fan of ballet in general but this performance exceeded my expectations. The dancers, decorations, lights – everything was put together flawlessly. Even someone who never read Tolstoy would be able to understand the plot.

    BORING

    by Irene1221 on 2015-04-16ballet - montreal

If someone doesn't know the story of Anna Karenina, it's not possible to understand it, because it is such a bad presentation. extremely boring, I wanted to leave after half an hour, I am really sorry I wasted my time on it.

great athleticism + well told story, but got bored

by weekendarts on 2013-05-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

i watched the performance with my wife. she loved it, while i found it great for the first hour and then quite boring through the second hour. the athleticism of the main characters was beyond reproach, and the story telling was done very well in an artistic and entertaining manner. however, in the second hour (Act Two) the music was getting dull and the whole overall experience/performance started to feel/look repetitive. for the total cost we incurred i would've preferred something else as in hindsight it was too high a price for this ballet. i initially recommended this to my friends so as to all go together. they declined due to schedule conflicts. given the overall average-to-weak experience, i'm glad they declined as i doubt they would've enjoyed it enough to justify the rather high cost. for comparison, we have been able to see world class cirque du soleil performances in Las Vegas for lower cost than this ballet, or local plays. yes, i know, this ballet is a unique art form, but at the end of the day the entertainment value was just not high enough to support the high ticket prices in my view.

    Rodin Ballet is a masterpiece!!

by sosia on 2013-05-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

A wonderful production, full of dramatism, top choreography and amazing dancers - soloists as well the corps de ballet. Eiffman is a genius, possible the best modern ballet shown in Toronto! Beautiful lines, exquisite movements, simply amazing! Great story, a love triangle of an art genius, with plastic redemptions of his art work. Went back for a second show!

    Beautifully captivating!

by Teleporpoise on 2013-05-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

First of all the set was wonderful! All the lighting and the background scenes were simply magnificent. The costumes were gorgeous. The music was very nice and well picked for the events of the story. The story itself was captivating and intriguing, it evoked thoughts and emotions. All in all, I would say this was a very beautiful ballet and I would recommend it to all.
