ERASURE IN CONCERT:

Nearly three decades after their debut, British synthpop duo Erasure continue to reign supreme on dance floors around the world. Combining the production skills of Vince Clark and the soaring vocals of Andy Bell, Erasure dominated European airwaves in the '80s and '90s with a massive string of hits that sound as fresh today as they did 25 years ago. Bell is a legendary live performer, maintaining an infectious energy and positivity as he lends his perfectly-preserved pipes to the love-drunk swoon of "Oh L'amour" and the uplifting message of "Chains of Love". The duo's unforgettable live shows never fail to spark impassioned dance parties among nostalgic fans, and their upcoming dates on the Violet Flame 2014 World Tour will be no different.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Erasure was formed in mid-'80s London by former Depeche Mode member Vince Clark and budding singer Andy Bell. Their 1985 debut album Wonderland failed to make much of an impact in Britain, but they hit the big time with their 1987 sophomore album The Circus, which remained on the UK Albums Chart for more than a year on the strength of hit singles "Sometimes" and "Victim of Love". The following year they achieved breakthrough success in America with the Top 20 hits "Chains of Love" and "A Little Respect", both from their third album The Innocents. That album was the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 records for the duo, a streak that culminated with 1994's I Say I Say I Say. With their 16th studio album The Violet Flame hitting shelves in 2014, Erasure will treat fans to a series of electrifying shows in support of the release.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Andy Bell is one hell of a performer and had a lot of energy to bring their songs to life...I remember looking around and seeing my fellow concertgoers smiling from ear-to-ear and having an amazing sing-along experience. Definitely money well spent."

"Andy and Vince were awesome. The new songs are great and it was a blast hearing the old songs once again."

"Simply amazing! Erasure kept the crowd happy and dancing throughout the whole show."

    Erasure was Fantastic!!!

by Anjolek on 2014-10-04The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The concert was really great? The band played all the hits. I also really liked the opening act All Hail The Silence. Terrific band even though they only played 5 songs they left an impression and I want to hear more from them.

    Unforgettable. In a bad way.

by CJ71 on 2014-10-04The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

As someone who loves live music, this was disappointing. Having seen erasure at kingswood and the hummingbird, with their elaborate costumes, set designs and flamboyant stage show, this show on this tour was the polar opposite. Most songs were remixed with overlong instrumental dance breaks with no choreographed movements - just flailing and wandering aimlessly across an empty stage. No set, no choreography, off key vocals, no costume changes, terribly weak back up singers...I've seen better performances of erasure songs at karaoke bars.

    Erasure Still Has It!

by Anonymous on 2011-09-21Sound Academy - Toronto

Great set list, mixing old and new. Andy is the consummate performer. His voice was a bit off at times, but generally quite good. Sound Academy is not a great venue, but was OK with the sub-capacity crowd.

    Brilliant performance

    by Lovethe80s on 2011-09-14Sound Academy - Toronto

The Erasure was excellent. The sound academy is an excellent venue to see a band. I loved the fact that they played a solid set without a break. I would have liked to have heard some of the others songs that were not singles or "Top Forty" releases. The music was clean and crisp. Andy's voice was powerful, perhaps too powerful for the sound system. found his voice to be peaking quite often throughout the show which was a little irritating. I am so glad that they decided to play in Toronto. it was great to see that Andy and Vince still love making music.

    Erasure 2011 Tour

    by dmfan519 on 2011-09-14Sound Academy - Toronto

The stage is great and the way that it all comes together is pretty good - Andy Bell still has a great voice and Vince is the same figure he has always been. They put on a great show and certainly had people dancing - Nostalgic and Entertaining 80's Pop and a touch of present day.

So strong after all these years

by Rasters on 2011-09-14Sound Academy - Toronto

To keep it short - wow! So much energy and a great setlist covering albums Wonderland through today. Enough hits to keep everyone dancing. Frankmusik was an amazing choice as an opener - great presence and fun.

    Erasure

by LeGriz on 2011-09-13Sound Academy - Toronto

Hitting the stage after 4 years away from Toronto, Erasure brought the classics everyones loves and a set of new hits. The new tracks return the band to an upbeat, room moving, dance floor shaking days of past. Many bands hit a funk of slowing things down and being artistic while delivering more mature music. Erasure may have done that a short while, but get those dancing shoes on......these new songs will have you on dance floor. Can't wait to hear them again......don't wait 4 years to return again.

    Great Performance, Venue was OK

    by Oatmeal25 on 2011-09-13Sound Academy - Toronto

Andy Bell's vocal performance was near flawless. Perhaps the set list could have been ordered a bit better (a little slow at the start) but I can't think of a song that they should have played. The venue's acoustics were average at best and the location and parking ($20) make this a venue to avoid if you can. Unfortunately Toronto doesn't have many good venues any more.

    Andy is SO HOT!

by larcenyfresh on 2011-09-13Sound Academy - Toronto

All I can say is Andy blows the roof off ANY OTHER SINGER I've ever seen perform live. His energy, intensity and clarity are unmatched! Andy and Vincent have a beautiful stage presence and a real interaction with their fans. They're awesome artists and EVERYONE should see them perform!

    Erasure does it again!

by Arkio on 2011-09-13Sound Academy - Toronto

Erasure gave an exceptional show mixing older songs in with their new upcoming album! Andy gave his heart and soul to the audienence! For every song, along with his back up girls they did not skip a beat! Everyone was a joy to watch! The only negative thing I can say is that "The Sound Academy's" sound system really needs work and standing around waiting for them to play, does a toll on people's feet and backs! My entire clothing was vibrating and at times with some of the songs, the bass was sooo distorted, it was dreadful and unpleasant to listen to. Had to wear earplugs the entire show or else would be deaf by now as well! My only hope is that the next time they come to Toronto, they get a venue worthy of having them!

    Better than expected....

by Roywein on 2011-09-13Sound Academy - Toronto

Andy Bell's voice is strong live, stronger than I expected for some reason. They played a number of favourites, but more hits woulda been nice. That said, tho, the newer/lesser known songs held up. Very fun.
