Long lineups but Eric and his Animals were amazing

by ridgebacks on 2011-01-17Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

On arriving three and a half hours prior to concert time, we discovered long lineups in the casino for seat selection. Not being a gambler, wasn't too enticed by all the slot machines. However, did have time for a decent meal in the hotel. But on to the concert.. I'm not as acquainted with the all Eric Burdon's music as my husband, but I recognized about 75%of the tunes. Eric's voice is incredible covering both blues and R&B. Keyboards and slide guitar both virtuosic. I really can't say anything against the concert. I would have loved it longer, but the hour and a half we got was great entertainment

    talented musicians

    by 1231 on 2011-01-17Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

A great performance. The sound system was set up much better than we expected. I doubt that we'll go to another performance in this venue though, as the line up to get the bracelet is a pain- a thing of the past. They played lots of favorite oldies.

    wow.........the mans still got it

by Duce on 2011-01-17Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

With pushing 70 years of age I was a little concerned that Eric would not have the vocals that I love and remember from his albums. But right from the first song "When I was young" those concerns flew right out the window. Eric Burdon sounded great. He still has the voice that I remember and if anything, it well surpassed all expectations. The band of course was void of any of the original members but the fellas that made up this latest version of the Animals were well-seasoned and extremely competent players. In short I (and all my friends that attended) loved the 1 1/2 hr. show. I could have listened to them all night long. There were so many songs that I wanted to hear but alas I guess that I'll have to go see them again if they ever return. So if your thinking about attending a show in your area....think no further and buy that ticket. You will not be disappointed. cheers

Eric brought back some old memoirs.

by Hound on 2011-01-17River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

It was a good concert but I wouldn't say great, the lead guitar player was very good. The drummer was also very good. I have been to several 60's & 70's concerts from the past and have enjoyed most of the others more than this concert.

    Eric Burdon was awesome!

by kelvinator on 2011-01-17Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Eric Burdon was in fine form. The voice has held up quite nicely over the last 50 years. The set could have been longer, missed 'See See Rider', 'Spill the Wine', 'Tobacco Road'. The Animals played well together, pretty tight. Overall a really enjoyable evening.

Eric Burdon - mediocre at best

by cocofred123 on 2011-01-16River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

I get that he's not 30 years old anymore, but have seen other aging pop stars (Neil Sedaka, Englebert Humperdinck) who were much better vocalists, the arrangements were superior, and just generally 100 times more entertaining. Thumbs down on this one!

    Reliving back in the day

by CCBuckets on 2011-01-16River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

Hit after hit by a tight band, Eric still has the voice that made it all happen for the Animals. Great childhood memories of those wild nights in the mid sixties

Eric Burden & the Animals was FABULOUS!!

by sewer on 2011-01-16River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

It brought us back to a time when life was simple and seemless. The smiles are still on our faces two days later. Just a couple of things that made me a little sad. There was a fan with an LP in its original cover standing at the stage hoping for a signature. Maybe the band should engage with the fans a little. Also there weren't any t-shirts or things to purchase.
