About

Over the course of his more than 50-year career, guitar legend Eric Clapton has covered an immense amount of ground. Along with dozens of album releases and concerts worldwide, he’s received three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions — one for his solo career and two more as a member of both Cream and the Yardbirds. He’s also earned an unofficial spot high on the list of best rock guitarists of all time.

Though his eponymous solo debut surfaced in 1970, Clapton’s solo career took off in the mid-‘70s with “461 Ocean Boulevard” and its now-ubiquitous single, “I Shot the Sheriff.” The English performer has since released 19 more solo sets, most recently “Old Sock.” That 13-track collection features mostly covers, as well as guest appearances by several established musicians, including J.J. Cale, Paul McCartney, Chaka Khan and Steve Winwood.

Clapton’s numerous tours - both alone and with his many projects — have canvased the globe, with tickets selling out regularly at iconic venues like London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

    emotionally sterile

by johnnny on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The musicians and singers were excellent. No connection with the audience at all. I think Eric may have said hello. No chatting with the audience. And he didn't even introduce the people on stage with him. At the end he waves and walks off. Comes back for the encore ( one song) and he's not even the one singing it. Very disappointed.

    Great experience.

by Annibanani on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

From purchasing tickets to arriving at the venue then the actual performance, everything went very smoothly. Eric Clapton did not disappoint nor did Peter Gabriel who we seen the next night. Fantastic musicians! Staff at the venue was very polite and helpful.

    Meh!

by Green eyes on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Songs were great, however, it was evident that Eric Clapton had little time for his fans. No interaction at all. Barely acknowledged he was in Canada! It would have been proper to introduce his band as well. Left me wondering why he bothers to tour still.

    Best guitar virtuosa

by Fran on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I’ve been to many Clapton concerts and he gets better every time. His voice is velvet and his guitar playing is incredible.

    They brought their 'A' game!

by Dave on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Amazing! Jimmie Vaughan & his band started right on time and nailed their performance, would catch their show again. Eric, too, was on time and surprised with an energetic concert that exceeded all expectations, beginning with a tribute to Robbie Robertson.

    Still the master

by MCT on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Eric Clapton’s concert in Toronto was sublime. From the opening tribute to Robbie Robertson (The Shape I’m In) to the closing, pre encore, Cocaine, he played a variety of his large repertoire that was just right. A mix of electric and acoustic showcased why he is still the master.

    Fantastic show, incredible performances!

by Nomad on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The musicians were excellent, the sound of the well know songs was conveyed well. Eric Clapton had great energy at 78! Jimmie Vaughn was also very good with his band and joining for the encore was a nice touch. If you love guitar you will love this show! Great job putting on a solid performance.

It was wonderful watching the master play live. A little subdued in the audience.

    Clapton was ON POINT!

    by BrandonD83 on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Clapton performed PERFECTION. Bought box sets, blu rays… only listened to Clapton for months leading up to this performance. 10/10 musically. The crowd however was very awkward. People and music lovers of all ages obviously. Some felt (as I did) to stand up and cheers, sing, clap, etc……. Others would fight said attendees and beg them to sit down. The concert was ***** Amazing. Just wish the guests were more on the same page. This. Is. A Guitar. Legend. Let’s have fun! And unfortunately (no fault of Clapton obviously, who performed ULTIMATE PERFECTION) the crowd just didn’t seem to know what to do.

    It was okay

by Disappointed Traveler on 2023-09-14Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Our biggest complaint was total lack of interaction with the audience from Clapton. He came out, he sang, he left. Isn't it the job of the star to make his fans feel welcome and and say something like "thanks for being here"! So much for 'star' quality.

    The 6-string prophet

by Bellzy on 2023-09-13Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

At 78 years old, this man can still sing fantastically, and cut thru glass with his guitar playing. Theres a reason slowhand is the greatest guitar player ever! And you gotta see him live to confirm.

It was just ok, Eric seemed tired and ungrateful, must be tough to be him, the tickets did not cost $100, man up or stay home !

    Absolutely INCREDIBLE

by Michael on 2023-09-13Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

This past weekend was my 2nd visit to Toronto. I came down to see not only Eric Clapton, but Philip Sayce the night before as well. Philip Sayce on Saturday was absolutely INCREDIBLE. The following night was even more incredible when I finally got to see one of my heros live, and it was so worth the wait. It will be two nights I'll never ever forget for as long as I live. Just simply INCREDIBLE. I experienced various emotions during Clapton's performance, from excitement and aw, to sad and somber when he played Tears In Heaven. When Eric played Tears In Heaven, tears began to flow from my eyes as I thought and cried for my late father as he passed away 3 years ago. It was such an emotional moment, and it was easier said than done to hold it together, but after I had a good cry, it felt therapeutic to let it go. After Clapton finished Tears In Heaven, I got up out of my seat and gave him a standing ovation. I then next walked down the stairs and made my way to the bathroom to wipe my eyes, and I wasn't alone as I saw a good number of people wiping thier eyes to. But all in all, it was an absolute INCREDIBLE night I'll never ever forget. I wanna say Kichi Megwetch (thank you very much in Algonquin) to Toronto, TicketMaster, Scotiabank Arena, Philip Sayce, Jimmie Vaughan and Eric Clapton.

    Amazing show

by Daniela on 2023-09-13Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Eric Clapton's show was beyond expectations. He is certainly the best guitar player in the world, and one can have high expectations . for a live performance. But this show was about impeccable sound, incredible technique, and most of all, love for music. The band, the staff, Eric himself shined . I am grateful I could be there .

    Last of the Living Legends!

    by G-Man on 2023-09-13Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I'm a sound/audio nerd, and I've seen well over 500 concerts. This was my first time watching Clapton. The sound was fantastic, one of the best I've heard at a large venue. Typically I don't like large venues because the audio is either not mixed well, too much mids, or muffled. The show was great, fantastic mix. There's not enough space here to geek out on Clapton's single coils & fuzz sound, but it was outstanding. Loved this show so much! Performance was spot on. The man is 78 and his tone, grace, and sublte nuances are still inspiring. Mr. Slow Hand.
