Amazing. We Won. Home Opener. Been 2 years. Foods good. Ticketmaster was easy as always to use. Im tyoing a reply of awesomeness because it required 50 characters at minimum. #JustDoIt.... Also it was my Fathers first professional football/soccer match.
Took in a game while visiting Edmonton. I'm shocked that so few people in Edmonton support their football club! The ticket prices were decent and, because there are not huge stands, almost every seat is a great seat. There were also a few very good players who I anticipate will have good careers. I also loved being able to stand alongside the stands after the match and you can meet the team close-up for a photo, show your support, autograph etc. That is SO rare for professional football (soccer). The next time I'm in Edmonton I'll definitely go to another match. Note: if it rains, the stadium does not allow large umbrellas. You must have a small retractable umbrella
I went to the game against the Minnesota Stars which was the first game at Clarke Stadium. This was my first time at a FC Edmonton game. The only reason i came out was because it was held at Clarke Stadium. The parking was $5 and there was room for 8X more cars in the parking lot at Clarke and Commonwealth so it was very convenient. I sat in the General Admission area. The seats are benches, but they are comfortable. I didn't have trouble finding a good place to sit. The game was great. It was very exciting with 7 goals scored. The main supporters group was loud, but could show more passion. It was a really great experience. The game was entertaining. The venue was great. The concessions were great. The crowd was great. It was worth my 32.00 including parking to come out and watch some decent entertaining soccer. The soccer wasn't the best quality, but guess what... this isn't the English Premier League or Serie A and it never will be. I plan on going to the next game. I think the team owners are really trying to make this work and i enjoyed myself. Like i said this was my first FC Edmonton game so i don't know how things used to be.
Whenever you're at Commonwealth you should go dressed like it's 20 degrees colder. It was freezing with the wind blowing mercilessly around the stadium, and the rain didn't help. Making matters worse was the concession running out of hot food early in the first half, even though the crowd was only about 6,000 people. i don't think with that few people attending soccer games they need to hold the event at Commonwealth. The game was kind of lacklustre, maybe due to the weather. I wouldn't go back again, at least not to an event here, and the ticket price wasn't worth the entertainment value.
Great job by Edmonton FC in the 1st 1/2...they came on strong and had soem opportunity, TO FC made soem mistakes but great soccer to see at this highest calibur live and there experience won it in the 2nd half 3-0. Let's hope Toronto perhaps Vancouver has an amazing game and winner represents Canada well...
I came out to support a sport I love. I was not expecting a very good game, so the quality of the game did not disappoint me. However, What I found very disappointing was the organization of the event. There was only one been vender, and one food vender open. People were lined up for over 25 minutes to get a hot dog. This was clearly organized to be a cash grab, and did more harm than good to in regards to promoting the sport and the team in this city.
Great that Edmonton is finally getting soccer as an ongoing event.
