Absolutely incredible ...........the entire show but especially John Preece as Tevye
We enjoyed the show very much - weren't sure exactly what it was about before but loved the story and the cast was wonderful - overall we had a great evening
Enjoyed the Performance. Well staged and acted. Inspirational storyline which provides hope in our times of trouble. "You gave me life and you showed me kindness and your providence watched over my spirit." Job 10:12
I took my 82 year old mom to a matinee show @ the Centre for Performing Arts in Vancouver. She is in a wheelchair so our seats were at the very back of the theatre. We did bring binoculars so were able to see everything we wanted to when we wanted to (closer would have been better of course). The staging was fabulous. The actors were great but the star of the show was absolutely John Preece! The ushers were really great as were all the other folks we interacted with at the Centre. Thank you all! My only complaint would be that aside from John Preece, it was difficult at times to hear the other actors. Mr. Preece has mastered the art of projecting his voice - we didn't miss a syllable. The rest of the cast could take notes from Mr. Preece.
Tevye was great! Yente, Motel, Lazar, and daughters were good Golde and the Constable were weak! The rest of the cast was average ..
Great acting, wonderful music... a real treat! We highly recommend.
Have always wanted to see this show. The music was amazing. So many of the songs were familiar and were ones that I have loved over the years. The acting was superb and the story was one that so many of us can relate to -- A story of change and letting go. We are so fortunate to be able to view such first class entertainment in our city. I hope we contnue to have first class musicals. Thank you to all who helped make this show possible - especially the cast.
I was so looking forward to seeing Fiddler On the Roof live and came away disappointed. The sound was not adequate, so we couldn't properly hear the dialogue. The lighting was awkward. I found the performance inconsistent, with some singing off-pitch, weak and hard on the ears. Some of the major female performers were not on their game. Luckily John Preece as Tevya was quite brilliant, and he managed to save the show from being a complete disappointment. I am sad to say that it was definitely not worth the $83.25 I and my three friends paid.
It has been sometime since I have been brought to tears and then laughed until my cheeks were sore at an afternoon matinee. Lead was incredible! Cast were superb with their stage presence and seamless changes of sets.
I saw this same production in Edmonton last February. It was just as good and I took two of my adult children with me to see it. They also enjoyed the production. This is the third time I have seen this live and I cried at all of them. The acting was incredible and great singing voices.
The show was amazing . the cast did a fabulous job. John Preece was unbelievable . Perfect person to portray the character Tevye
We really enjoyed the play having seen it years ago it was so close to the movie it was unbelieveable. Tevy did an excellent job and the other characters also gave fine performances. Now bring back Singing in the Rain.
The part I enjoyed the most is that this play has many and long lasting dialogue-only scenes and less with musical accompainment. Moreover, the orchestra parts are held low key, only lightly underscoring the songs, not overwhelming, therefore understanding speech and lyrics was easy and most enjoyable. Also, a good storyline giving valuable insight into interesting historical facts. Very professionally presented! I wish you could offer more similar productions; keep me informed.
Beautifully orchestrated- the scenes were excellent, the flow superb... overall definitley a show worth seeing. The acting was great fromn all the main characters -.. the Police Actor should have had more of an accent, he sounded way too American- I'm sorry there were not more Canadian actors on this tour - but overall glad we went.
Very well done. An enjoyable show with lots of emotion.
We have to say we were disappointed in the voice aspect of the performance. The singing in most part was without life. One character's voice was so soft that we couldn't hear the song. We love this musical but walked away at the end of the performance thinking it was ho hum. Sorry, I wouldn't recommend it friends.
It was simply wonderful!! The singing and dancing was great! Actors superb!! When they sang "Tradition" I had goosebumps!! Even my husband who is not a fan of musicals , love it! With the comedy involved it was a perfect night!
We loved the show. From start to finish - it was wonderful! Tevye was especially well played, but all the characters were so perfect!
Fiddler lived up to every expectation the I've had of the performance. It is all that i had imagined that it would be since the first time that I heard the music more than 25 years ago.
