  • fiddler

I thought the dancing and music was great. Its was a very long production, too long. I thought the Tevye was not as charsmatic as the actor in the movie. I was disappointed really. I could have fallen asleep though most of it.

Theo Bikel is extraordinary in his role and he alone was worth the price of admission

  • Violin on top of the house

by pfp700 on 2010-01-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The music drowned out the actors a number of times. The dancing was memorable. The preformance could have been more technically sound.

  • Fiddler on the Roof worth seeing

by mrsdupa on 2010-01-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Fiddler on the Roof was definitely worth seeing. The first Act was so well done. The music, the timing, etc. It was spectacular however, I was a little disappointed with the second Act. It seemed rushed to me and the ending did not leave me with a sense of 'it's over'. It left me feeling and saying: "That's all????" WOW!!!! Overall, it is definitely a show I would recommend to my family & friends.

I have seen 9 Broadway shows/plays in New York City. This was the same...... FANTASTIC! Great cast, wonderful singing, amazing sound. It also had very good stage stuff. I hope they bring in alot more.

  • Fiddler was funny!

I attended the opening night performance of Fiddler on the Roof, and was thoroughly impressed! The sets and staging were beautiful, and performances were flawless. I expected as much, considering it is part of the Broadway Across Canada tour, but was impressed nonetheless. Theo Bikkel was superb! He did such an amazing job and was completely believable in his role of Tevye. All other actors were also completely believable, and had me sitting spellbound for the whole two hour and fifty minute running time.

Singing and acting was decent, but set was too big for Jubilee stage and production felt cramped.

  • Tevye was Stupendous

by Pippa on 2010-01-19Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Many cannot live up to expectations, but Theodore Bikel did not disappoint the patrons at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Sunday afternoon. His singing was lovely, his timing was superb, and his gestures were a delight. Bikel's portrayal was truly a masterpiece.

  • A Must see for Musical lovers

by Freckledfacedgirl on 2010-01-19Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

We attended the 2 o'clock matinee performance of Fiddler on The Roof and found it to be the best musical we have ever enjoyed watching at the Jubilee Auditorium thus far. We bought the tickets as a Christmas gift for our 16 year old daughter and all of us couldn't stop talking about the wonderful vocals, dance and engaging acting that took part throughout the play as we enjoyed a dinner out on the town afterwards! The performers moved about the stage with ease and excellent timing as well an aura of unity one only sees occasionally eminating from the stage on to the audience, which was engaging. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy such a great performance and once again "Bravo!" to all the actors.

  • Fiddler on the Roof 2010

by csjfromBanff on 2010-01-18Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

    T. Bikel was full voiced and full of confidence on stage on Sunday. He 'was' Tevye in every sense of the role. His full, distinctive voice filled out the character through timing, expression and humour. This so familiar role felt fresh and alive as he sang, grumped and shouted across the stage. His exquisite timing is crucial to the other characters and he is able to visibly relish the funny lines and physical comedy. Family strife caused by the changing of traditions by his three daughters, although seemingly out dated in 2010, felt powerful and raw on stage. The scenery was in some ways sparse and yet appropriate for the small village in Russia. The pre-show forest scrim set an entrancing mood. Fiddler is a stage experience worth re-living.
