Fiddler on the Roof was spectacular

by CeeJCee on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

After 2000+ times playing Tevye, Mr. Bikel must surely feel he is Tevye, and yet he can become the character so extremely believeably. It was truly a very enjoyable performance. Golde and Yente were excellent actors, as were many others. This was at least the third time, and possibly the fourth time, we have been to a performance of The Fiddler and this probably the most enjoyable. Koodos to all the company!!

Fiddler of the Roof, well done!!

by CoolGal on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The Fiddler on the Roof performance last nite was spectacular. Pre-show, in particular I was impressed with the automated email and phone service, reminding of show start time/performance length, parking, etc; as well as the automated follow post-performance for review. The actors/actresses are incredibly talented, they're enthusiasm and professionalism are apparent in this top-notch performance. Well done by all!!

Fiddler on the Roof was Great!!!

by Olafo on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I saw the movie a long time ago and always wanted to see the play. I did not get good seats, i was very far away in the second balcony, and maybe that's why I thought the sound was a little too low. I am not a fan of high volume plays or concerts, but I thought this time the volume could have been a little higher. On top of that, there was a lot of people coughing up all the time. Next time give out some cough medicine along with the playbill...!!!

Fiddler on the Roof- great night out

by Calgarydatenight on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

My hubby and I attended FOTR last night at the Jub in Calgary. We had an awesome time. All the songs you know and others you have forgotten. I laughed , I cried- the whole gamut. I keep humming the songs today.

This performance had high energy and captivating appeal. Wedding dance with bottled heads was incredible and the vocals kept one's interest intense.

    Fiddler was FANTASTIC!

by MoonBean1 on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at "Fiddler on the Roof". Bikel did an incredible job of his role as "Tevia". His singing and dancing, and most notably his well-delivered lines!! The entire cast did a fantastic job and I would absolutely recommend this performance to anyone who enjoys live theatre.

Relaxed, Reflective, Fiddler was a family triumph

by north59lite on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The classic musical wrapped its arms around the Jubillee audience and never let go. The audience returned the affection by laughing easily and much, ending with a standing ovation. A lengthy production (nearly 3 hours with intermission) passed so quickly there was never a time I lost interest or grew drowsy. The younger children sitting behind me (elementary and middle school) seemed engaged and delighted by the tale. The dance numbers were well choreographed and the actors did not disappoint. Orchestra was seamless perfection. The set changes and backlighting were fascinating, especially the remote controlled movement of trees and buildings. My only disappointment was the vocal quality of the soloists. Not quite on par with other musicals I've enjoyed in Broadway Across Canada. Overall, though, a beautiful musical, a timeless tale, a classic evening of valuable entertainment.

    Fiddler on the Roof---fantastic!!

by Lee37 on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Even my 14 year old wanted to go back and see it again because it was so funny--and their voices are amazing. Tevye makes the show---he is the best theatre performer they could ever hope to get for that part.I would change the fiddler to an actual musician who can play the fiddler---it was obvious that he was not and it was the only disappointing part of the play.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

by michelemanyname on 2010-01-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Bikel was absolutely brilliant; who would have guessed he was 85. The Russian dancing was superb, singing was great and the play was very enjoyable. The costumes and sets were very well done. This was definately one of my top 5 favorite musicals.

Fiddler on the Roof was definitely unforgettable!

by Saint10 on 2010-01-15Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The play was excellent. Perhaps a little more volume on the sound. I was sitting at the back of the first balcony. Some words were missed but it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

We we sitting 2nd balcony, J row centre. We found the sound not loud enough, and the actors did not pause for the applause or laughter to end before speaking again. This was our 4th time seeing it, but not our favorite one.

    Phenomenal Fiddler

by hoder on 2010-01-15Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Wow!! We, our group of 4, thoroughly enjoyed this amazing production. It was very humorous, the voices and music strong and clear (great sound system at the Jubilee), the set changes moved so quickly and effortlessly, the story line interesting and moving, and the acting was impeccable. I grew up listening to the music, as my parents were fans, but didn't fully understand the plot. Now I do and I want to listen to the songs over and over, as I did as a child. I would highly recommend friends and family to catch this production when it's in their area,
