GERRY DEE ON TOUR:
Personal story looms large in the stand-up of Canadian comic Gerry Dee. A former sportsman and physical education teacher, Dee's act draws heavily on the comic potential of institutional learning and the inherently funny dynamic of teacher and student. As a finalist on the 2007 season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, Dee more than proved his performance chops, beating out most of the competition to take home 3rd place. With his hit sitcom Mr. D entering its third season, Dee is sure to be sharper than ever on The Real Mr. D 2014 Comedy Tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Ontario, Gerry Dee played varsity hockey and golf at university before going on to become a physical education teacher. His experiences coaching young athletes and students provided him plenty of fodder for his stand-up act, and in 1999 he was named Toronto's Funniest New Comic. After deciding to pursue comedy full-time, Dee went on to win numerous comedy competitions and prizes in the '00s, including the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2002 — an honor he shares with comic legends Robin Williams and Ellen Degeneres. After a successful appearance on the 5th season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, Dee launched his namesake sitcom Mr. D on Canadian television in 2012, announcing its renewal for a third season in 2014.
It was a birthday gift from my wife , she is a big fan . This was our first time seeing Gerry live but we rush through dinner every week night to see him on family feud and loved his little jokes there as well . Recap : Gerry just got a new fan . I loved him and would definitely be going to see him another time .
It was terrible. All he did was talk bad about his children and his wife. He complained about house league hockey and degraded the whole hockey system. It was terrible. He end with the worst of all the birth of one of their kids. He was an absolute disgrace!!!
Gerry was so funny and relateable!!! My husband and I were dying at the house hockey story! His teaching stories and just his view on life in general is hysterical with a good dose of what “everyone is really thinking”! Best best best night out in ages!
Gerry Dee was a great night out! Hilarious for teachers and parents alike. Would definitely see him again!
Gerry Dee was absolutely hilarious! He engaged with the audience and was very relatable within his sets! Loved him in his TV show Mr.D and his stand up did not disappoint! Laughed from start to finish! Would see him again!
He was hysterical. I was literally crying from laughter at one point. Gerry says what everyone thinks! And the bonus is that he’s a local artist!
This was my first time at a Gerry Dee stand up show. I am a big fan as my family appeared on Family Feud Canada season 3. Gerry had us laughing all night long, loved ALL of his content and banter with the audience. My only feedback was I wish he was on longer.
My family loves Gerry — Mr.D and his stand-up which we saw about eight years ago. Then, he was engaged and even out on a clean pair of pants. The other night, he was somewhat entertaining — the kids skating bit was hilarious— but between his sheet of paper, phone and continual references to how close by he lived, we felt like he wasn’t so into it, that he’d just as soon have stayed home to watch Friday night football. It was a bit disappointing and even a tad insulting. WE came out — he should have too.
Gerry was hilarious and show was great! Literally only thing that sucked was that you couldn’t bring your drinks inside.
The opening act, Mayce Galoni, was very funny and of course Gerry Dee did not disappoint. I didn’t think I would laugh as much as I did!

Gerry Dee live was fantastic. Laughed the whole time and all new material. Highly recommend his show, this was our third time and we’ll go again! Only downside was the whole first Ontario vs first Ontario concert hall confusion, lucky they are nearby each other and we went early
Great venue to have a comedy show! Gerry Dee is hilarious! He kept the jokes rolling and even bantered with the audience, would go see him again and again!
I dont go to the casinos nor to stand up comedy shows however I bought tickets because of his cleaner than normal stand up comedy image! I didn't bargain for the show opener! Her jokes would have been just as good without the forced expletives.
Gerry Dee was excellent. He kept us laughing and entertained. Have not laughed so hard in a long time. His life experiences that he makes part of his show makes us feel like we are part of it all and so much of his life experiences resemble many of ours. I will surely go back to see him again if he comes back to Hull/Gatineau. I recommend his show to everyone!
We bought tickets to see Gerry Dee without knowing too much about him. Man am I glad we did because he was very entertaining with his real life stories. Don't hesitate...you won't be disappointed. I was literally slapping my knee and laughing so hard I had tears running down my face by the end of his set. We loved it!!
Loved the performance. All the stories were relatable and made me laugh out loud - at times I had a hard time controlling myself…. At one point my husband and I turned to each other and said he (Gerry) was talking about me - lol - I was a Sheila…. (without the 100% grades though). I’d definitely go see him again.
It is all so natural - so funny to look at the way things occur in the real world. A real breath of fresh air. I can also attest (even tho I don't know Gerry personally) he is a good man. He went to see a young man that he did not know because of a severe injury from hockey without knowing the young man before that. How can you beat that!
This was a great evening. The venue was nice though the bar service was slow. Rachelle Elie opened and she was very funny and had a good set. Very interactive with the audience. Gerry Dee was great. A lot of funny stories to share and enjoy. His teaching experience was hilarious to hear and I am sure that most teachers would testify to similar thoughts. His set was great and just flew by. He was good with the audience and connected well. I highly recommend seeing him. I will see him again for sure.
