About

The Grey Cup is the annual Canadian Football League (CFL) championship game. The game have been held nearly every year since its inaugural match in 1909, with exceptions between 1916 and 1918, as well as 2020. The trophy has exchanged hands with many notable recipients, including its Grey Cup-leading, 18-time winner Toronto Argonauts and the CFL’s longest dynasty, the Edmonton Elks, who claimed five consecutive championships between 1978 and 1982. The final, which is accompanied by the week-long Grey Cup Festival celebration, has regularly changed its host city, with Toronto, Vancouver and Hamilton holding the most exhibitions throughout the years. On November 17 2024, the 111th Grey Cup will be played in Vancouver for the 17th time overall, with BC Place set to be the venue for the 10th time.

    Not worth the cost

by Calgarymom on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

The pregame festivities in the days leading up to the game were either cost prohibitive or just beer gardens. No family friendly activities, nothing free, nothing outdoors until game day at the field. The Grey Cup merchandise selection was poor and almost completely sold out by the time we arrived 2 days before the game. The game itself was good but the concessions were overwhelmed by the crowds and had mediocre food at outrageous prices. Half time show was mediocre. Pre game show was good. Hotels gouged too, was charged 3 times the rack rate for our room. Dropped over 3k on flights, hotel, food, and of course tickets. No longer willing to travel for Grey Cup bc CFL has ruined it.

I've been to many grey cups...but none as close as this...it was great...I'm disappointed that I didn't get a ticket stub to save in my memorabilia

    Great Game

by LaWinner on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

Despite the rude Cats fans (too much booing, standing, leaving their seats and not actually watching the game) I was very happy to attend and enjoyed the actual game very much. Mostly, happy to see the Cats lose. Ticketmaster, however, is a different story. The mobile only delivery method for the tickets was very problematic and any effort by Ticketmaster to assist with a resolution was not forthcoming. After contacting the TiCats office I was able to determine that the tickets would be available as Will Call. But no thanks to Ticketmaster for that piece of information. Their response to my request for assistance was delivered at 4:30 on game day. So when I saw it after I returned home the day after the game, it was most definitely useless information. The exclusion of patrons who don't own smart phones is an insult to those of us who value our independence, anonymity and bank balance. This forced dependence on technology and the lack of support personnel just reeks of greed.

    Not COVID Suitable At All

    by C. S. on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

We rec'd an email before hand, which explained that ticket holders were to go directly to their seats, no gathering. Buy your beverages and food, with your mask on, and go right to your seats. That didn't happen. There were so many people in the concourse, gathering and drinking (no masks), that I didn't feel safe. No one was saying "move along folks", nothing. There were so many people inside that you could lose the person you were with, and had to push through, shoulder to shoulder. Leaving the venue, it was like a herd of cows being funneled through. Not fair, and I am angry. The venue put me at a disadvantage and at risk. I regret going.

by JordanB on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

I am so impressed with the hospitality we experienced in Hamilton and the overall event(s) that were hosted by this proud CFL City. The game itself was a dream come true (finish) for all of Manitoba Football Fans. I am still so over the moon about this trip and game.

    Halftime needs to re-thought out!!!

by Lazguard on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

The show was not observable from its location. Concert should have been in the middle of the field so everyone could enjoy!!!!!! After game bus transport was CHAOS and no signage. Why not maintain the service as per a regular game!!!! Also have identified designated staff directing people to buses!!!

    AWESOME Grey Cup

by True Double Blue CFL Fan on 2021-12-15Tim Hortons Field - Hamilton

First half was for the most part a defensive battle. Second half the lead changed back and forth and regular time ended in an exciting finish, a tie. Only the fourth GC in history to do so. Overtime resulted in a dramatic finish. As is usually the case it was a very close game throughout. Great half time show with excellent local Canadian talent.

    Wonderful event

by JB on 2019-12-13McMahon Stadium - Calgary

All was good at the Grey Cup - thank you Calgary. To be honest, the only thing we missed after the game was over and the celebration was on, the feed from the cameras on the Jumbotron ended, whereas if we would have had the screen to watch, it would have been so much better to be able to watch from afar...

    Great Win for the Bombers

    by T. B. on 2019-12-12McMahon Stadium - Calgary

I've been to a half dozen Grey Cups. An app for all the events, activities etc for the week would be great. It'd be cool if one could favourite their activities so that all events could be coordinated easily in terms of times locations etc, We really enjoyed our time in Calgary, most activities were at the Stampede grounds which was great.

Grey Cup was exciting! So nice to see the live game.

by Dottie on 2019-12-09McMahon Stadium - Calgary

We really enjoyed experiencing the Grey Cup. It was so great to see the live game. Keith Urban was awesome but we were disappointed that we could not see him on the stage from our side. We saw the back of the stage when Keith was on and also the back when all the stage performances happened. There should be a view from the front of the stage from all seats. That was very disappointing.

Grey Cup festivities and the big game on Sunday

by smitty on 2019-11-30McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Had a great experience with the festivities held at stampede grounds and BMO centre. The only negative about the stampede grounds was with the atco stratosphere. Could not see the inside because there was always a private function going on. WHY? not so fair to put it up and no one can go in. BMO experience with all the team rooms was a blast. As far as the big game on Sunday, it was a great day as far as weather and was fun. The field seemed in great shape. The really negative was the state of our McMahon stadium. We really need a new one badly. Such a shame to pay 300.00 for a ticket and have to use an outhouse as the regular washrooms are too crowded and not enough. We need a new stadium badly but should not be paid for by taxpayers. Let the owners and billionaires build it. So fed up supporting rich people who have the money. It is disgraceful to have such a depleted and outdated stadium. We have such a great city. Lets get serious about the Stamps building a new stadium fast. I really liked the game

    Grey cup 107

    by R. O. on 2019-11-29McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Overall a fun event but was very disappointed with the lack of merchandise for sale specific to the teams playing for the Grey Cup. Also inconsistency with the type of tender accepted at concession stands. Some were only cash, some just credit or debit, etc. Prices for non-alcoholic beverages were astronomically high. Calgary needs a reno to their stadium. P.A system was subpar and of poor quality.

    Warm November afternoon...

    by D. B. on 2019-11-28McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Run like a well oiled machine from start to finish! Great pre-game and half time shows, and a super football game! Loved the CF18 flyby too. An afternoon I’ll always remember.
