    Amazing!!

by Kate on 2023-11-29Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I didn't really know what to expect, having only seen snippets of the original cast online, but this cast blew me away! I like them more than the originals, sorry not sorry. Fabulous from start to finish. I wish I hadn't seen it on the last day it showed in my city so I could go again.

    Disappointed

by jsc on 2023-11-28Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We were so excited to get tickets to Hadrstown- Tony winner, big buzz, but ultimately it didn’t live up to all that we’d read. Sound was out of control; way too loud. Performance of Persephone and Orpheus were flat.

Broke my Heart & Blew my Mind

by Simone on 2023-11-28Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I've listened to the original album since it came out and I have been obsessed with it since so when I got an alert that it was in my city, I immediately bought a ticket. When I arrived, I was already amazed by the set, how simple yet so clever in its function. The musical numbers were truly amazing and immersed the entire audience into the world of Hadestown. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made my heart shatter, despite knowing the ending. The touring cast was so phenomenally talented, and sounded so similar to the original cast, adding wonderful flairs to the songs of their own. If you ever get a chance to see it, you will be truly blown away by how fantastic this production was. What a truly talented team of songwriters, choreographers, producers, and performers.

    Goosebumps

by Bree on 2023-11-28Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This performace was absolutely stunning. The entire cast was phenominal, but Amaya Braganza (Eurydice) absolutely floored me with her voice. I wish I had been able to see it more than once!

    I loved it!!

    by Mikha on 2023-11-26

It was my first ever musical show and I was so excited that I was able to see it! The set, cast and even the ones playing instruments were amazing!! I loved how they changed the scenes and created the atmosphere! A couple of things I would like to point out, I recommend to know the story behind it as sometimes it's hard to understand the words which makes it hard to follow or even go with someone who does know to explain during intermission. For those who are sensitive to flashing lights please be aware as there are scenes where the lights can be in your eyes! But other than that I loved it! Best experience and the perfect way to make my day watching my first ever musical live!

    Good but not great

by Sandy on 2023-11-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Overall it was okay but hard to understand / make out the vocals of the main characters at times. First third of it dragged a bit but picked up closer to intermission. Hard to follow the story at times. Ended rather abruptly in our opinion.

    Fantastic Music

by Tualla on 2023-11-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Brush up on Greek Mythology before you see this show. When you understand the legends and the characters Hadestown is showcasing, it helps to understand the show. The on stage orchestra is throughly involved in the production. Jazz like New Orleans with a particularly talented Trombone. The choreography was very effective, and contemporary. Mechanical movements of the Workers really depicted the hard conditions of their environment. Principle characters were all very strong in their parts with outstanding vocal ability. Hadestown is a great modernized depiction of the Legends of some of the Greek Gods.

BEST MUSICAL I’VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME!!!

by Laurel on 2023-11-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Everything about this performance was marvellous. The set was so beautiful - the revolve added movement to trick the eye into believing the distance Orpheus had to travel. I LOVE a band on stage and such an array of instruments. Costumes were PERFECT for each performer. I was so impressed with calibre of dance technique which for me, combined with wonderful vocals, lifts a performance to lofty heights … even in hell!! Loved every minute of this performance and can’t wait to see again!!! .. and again!!!

    Fantastic show!

by Musical fan on 2023-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Fantastic performance, production, cast, and venue. Every bit as impressive as anything we’ve seen in London’s West End. Don’t miss it!

    Spectacular

by Deb on 2023-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Set design and lighting evokes New Orleans, and encloses the action. Amazing movement with special revolves. The musicians blow you away from the first trombone tune to after the bows. Singers are wonderful - all of them from the trio to the soloists. Special mention to Hades himself as every word was clear. All of them were spectacular. "It's an old story"but a marvelous rendition. This show is my favourite Broadway Across Canada offering in the last few years!

    Fair

by Jest22 on 2023-11-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I should have researched a bit more …then it would have been easier to get into sooner! Found the story line puzzling at first because some of the words were not enunciated clearly….the stage set was very good and atmospheric. The cast had powerful voices, however the story line was too long and just not for me, I just wouldn’t do a repeat!

    Amazing Show

by Dyan on 2023-11-22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Probably the best musical I have ever seen! Powerhouse vocals, musicians, story telling. The venue was great too. We drove seven hours to see it and don't regret it at all.

Loved the music, band members , songs and dancers

by Melinda on 2023-11-22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Second balcony… Not a great choice to see the beautiful expressions on the actors faces. Very dark, is Hades town…fittingly. The love story did not work for me. It seemed too artificial/superficial and I never felt that a real love story had taken place. Hades and Hermes are amazing characters and vocalists. The Fates dance, vocals and posturing were superb. The 13 and 10-year-olds with us had difficulty with the story. Once explained, they were all in. Fabulous musical, but now having seen it, I might have given it a miss for something else…
