  • excellent performance

by reviewperson on 2025-05-04Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Runner is a one person play that showcases difficult choices that a man trained in collecting body parts for burial has to make. What are the ramifications about saving someone who may have been a killer. And what is the emotional problems about dealing with fellow workers and family. There are no easy answers presented in this play. This work is engrossing and sometimes difficult to watch. Excellent writing , acting and direction.

  • The Ending

by Gruber on 2024-11-10Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The ending needs more clarification as you are left unsure of what circumstances brought the boy who experienced the secular world and what direction the boy who's father was Jewish took.

Excellent interviews, learned lots about Gabi and Jake but the music was unbelievable. The only criticism I have is I wanted more songs.

  • WOW!!!!!

by BarbaraL on 2024-05-28Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best evenings of entertainment I have experienced. The 3 singer/actors were super; their arrangements also as well as their delivery. And the trio: so fluid and spectacular - sounded like a larger group.

  • Very powerful, deep and thought provoking!

by MonieK. on 2024-05-18Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I were brought to tears. The story line is one we need to talk about. The acting was superb and I was totally engrossed in the characters for the entire production. It was a memorable experience which opened up a discussion of the differing views of myself and my husband. I recently submitted a letter to the editor of the Toronto Star about my view against MAid. It was published along with two opposing views. A close friend of mine was approved for MAid two years ago. It remains to see if she will ever go through with it. I pray she does not. She is depressed, lonely, and in pain. She needs support to continue her life, not end it.

  • I love this theatre and its shows

by Denise on 2024-05-15Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Most of the shows that this theatre puts on are of a high quality. Good scripts, topics, acting and staging. They tend to explore topics that are often taboo such as death and other difficult issues. But there have been some really fun shows as well. In 7 Days is worth seeing. Great acting, thoughtful and funny. Who knew that MAID could be funny.

  • In Seven Days

by Jo-Ann on 2024-05-11Meridian Arts Centre: Greenwin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Recently I attended the show In Seven Days. All staff that I encountered were extremely welcoming, friendly, and patient. The theatre was lovely; the seats were comfortably spaced and I enjoyed the intimate stage. The acting was excellent as was the story. MAID is a relatively new conversation for many of us. I appreciated the humour, the frankness, the wisdom, and the tender expression of the human spirit. It was enriching to see the different perspectives of the individuals impacted by a MAID decision. Thank you for producing such an excellent show.

  • A moving story of a family dealing with death

The play itself was excellent. The actors were all perfect in their roles, exact timing and deep characterization. Go see it, you’ll be glad you did

What a treat to see Robert Klein after so many years. It was a wonderful, warm, funny show and I felt like I’d spent the afternoon with an old friend.

  • Musical Extravaganza

by Kar on 2023-06-18Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely loved the Harold Green fundraiser last week at the Meridian Arts Centre. So many talented singers featured the music of Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. I sang along to every song , so many beautifully sung songs ; I can’t pick a favourite. Bravo to a fabulously produced show!

  • Disappointing Show

by PSutton on 2023-06-18Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

While we were happy to support Harold Green Jewish Theatre, we were shocked at the poor imitation of what this Tribute Show is meant to be. Without the two expert performers who have toured and showcased this great music, this production fell flat. The lack of staging and often mediocre singing quality was a disservice and insult to Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. In spite of excellent music direction and a very capable band, their great music was not always showcased in a professional way. As Director, Avery Saltzman did not need to be part of the performance. We would have happily paid more for tickets to the real tribute show with the authentic impersonators of Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. This version of "Ya Gotta Have Friends" was a poor imitation of the original concept of this Tribute Show.
