    Good entertainment

by NSCalgary on 2009-09-19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

In the Heights is the only Broadway show that we have seen and it was a show with a good story line, music, set and performers. The Richard Rodgers theatre is a wonderful old theatre that has been maintained well.

Contemporary twist on Classic Broadway Show

by rhodWORK on 2009-09-14Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The performers singing and dancing was everything you would expect from a Broadway show. The story was funny and touching and smacked of dreamers who seek a better life. The hip-hop dancing and rapping breathed new life into this classic scenerio.

    In the Heights was fabulous

by Jonaz on 2009-09-07Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This was a fabulous musical. The music was great and the choreography was fabulous. the story line and constant varying choreography kept my attention but even more important my husband's attention through out the whole performance. I would highly recommend this musical to people of all ages. I also appreciated that at the end of the play they announced that a portion of the income was going to a charity to help support a student in university.

by ShakAttack on 2009-09-07Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I went in to the show knowing the music and expecting a great show, but what I saw was completely beyond expectations. From the dancing and singing to the incredible comedic timing and acting that went on, to the costuming and the amazing set, In the Heights was an incredible experience that is not to be missed.

    One of my faves

by careau on 2009-07-26Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

It was really good! Easy to follow, entertaining and interesting! The music was original and I listened to the soundtrack repeatedly for a few weeks before and after the show. I have seen over 30 musicals and although I have enjoyed most of them - this is the first time I have wanted to listen to the music over and over again. Highly recommended!

    In The Heights was amazing

by Mullins on 2009-07-24Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This is one of the better Broadway shows. I see why it won a Tony. We cried, we laughed and we were dancing in our seats. The mixture of Hip Hop and Latino music made it enjoyable for our group. The comedic lines thrown in while bursting into song were hilarious. As a parent I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline of an immigrant couple trying to do the best for their daughter. I would definitely see this one again and again!

In the Heights packs a wonderful punch

by Maija on 2009-07-18Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

After seeing In the Heights last year with the original cast I had to bring my friend to see it when were were in New York this summer. I was delighted to find that even with the cast changes it still packed that same powerful punch it did the first time. We laughed, cried and came out of the show elated and tapping our toes! The singing and dancing remained energetic and vibrant. I would wholeheartedly recommend this show.

    BOOOOO-RING!!!

by MaryJeanLouise on 2009-07-16Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The dancing was fine but the book was predictable, facile and boring. Thought about leaving at intermission but hoped it would get better. It didn't.

    Wonderful, even in Spanish!

by rgrocksforever on 2009-07-16Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I had lost the address to the theatre. Thankfully, a fine member of the NYPD helped me and my friend find it. He asked me to tell him how it went afterwards, but of course, NYC's a big place, so hopefully he'll read this one day! I was worried about this show being one of the cheapest on Broadway ($40 tickets!) and people commenting on songs being in Spanish (I know only a few words). I was even more worried in the first 10 minutes of the show when I found it hard to understand what Usnavi was rapping about. HOWEVER. Things clear up soon after. The music is incredible, the dancing is breathtaking, and the whole musical is absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed it immensely. The set is really realistic, I loved how you could see people in the background in their homes/work. The best part of the whole thing was the power of the singers voices and the latin dancing. Such a fun and heartwarming show. It's also not as formal as some shows I've been to before (no dress code) which made it even more fun and enjoyable. Sure, if you understood Spanish it would probably be even better, but my friend, who doesn't have English (let alone Spanish) as her first language, enjoyed the show a lot too. As well, it was a nice surprise that I recognized Justina Machado who played Daniela. Watching a TV celebrity in real life? Awesome! (Great character too!) Go see it!

    In the Heights soars!!

by merv on 2009-07-15Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This was an excellent play. The story was very interesting and the music, lyrics and choreography were phenomenal. The actors portrayed their characters extremely well and all of them had wonderful singing talent. By the end of the show the audience rose to a long and well deserved standing ovation. A great time was had by one and all.

    In the Heights was INCREDIBLE!

by Nadman1 on 2009-07-14Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We took in the play know a bit about the story line and had some familiar reference to the area since we had family live in that area a few years ago. Well, did they ever nail the stage set and the "local" flavor of the neighborhood, it's beautiful people and their heritage. The show was spectacular, the singing was strong and potent, the hip-hop/salsa dancing exciting and overall stage presence was phenomenal! Please do yourself a favor and see this show - as it depicts a small piece of modern day New York with all its highs and lows. For us - best show ever!

    In the Heights was fantastic

by Wendy56 on 2009-07-13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Very high energy musical with a Latino flavor about a neighborhood of Cuban, Puerto Rican and Dominicans in the Washington Heights area of New York. The singing and dancing was incredible. There was also some very creative "rapping" - could have scared me away, I'm middle aged and so not into rap but it was creative and done well. A VERY talented cast. Nice story too with a postive message. Funny, upbeat and amazing!! My 19 year old was dancing in her seat!

    Go watch In The Heights!

by pkfn on 2009-07-11Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I loved the soundtrack from the first 10 seconds and had been listening to it for months before I was able to go to NY to watch it. Definitely worth watching and it was more brilliant than I had imagined it to be on stage. It's an absolutely great show infused with rapping, latin music, an energetic cast, great choreography and wonderful storytelling.
