Review of Jack White (Oct 4 Sony Centre)

by Angelfishster on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Show was good his performance was ok. His band was very good (all male cast). Sound could have been better. Vocals weren't loud enough.

    REAL Music, RAW Talent.

by JackWhitesWife on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Jack White played with all girl band the Peacocks and ROCKED our faces off. His guitar riffs were magical as was his piano playing. He engaged with the crowd and even got a little annoyed when the crowd kept completing a lyric too early! A peculiar but unique and justifed musical genius. He is a talented man comparable to the greats like Led Zeppelin. He probably played an hour and a half, maybe two but it seemed to end too quickly! However his stage presence and rapport with his band were awesome to watch and I will definitely see him again! It was great that he played songs from his solo album as well as his other bands! MUST SEE LIVE!

    Above and beyond all expectations!!!!!

by cena on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

of course, we were all a little concerned after NY. Jack White and his amazing band put on an unforgettable show. I am so thankful to have seen his first solo tour. Pure energy and love for the audience. I have never seen such an engaged audience at a show in Toronto. Brilliant. The man is a legend in the making!

    Jack White and the Buzzards

by One1 on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Another Excellent show from Jack White. He's really moving up as one of the greatest and innovative guitar players of all-time. The Buzzards were a very good outfit and they really put on a great show especially the drummer who banged hard on the drum kit.. Tried to be like Keith Moon it seemed. Great show

    Jack White & the Peacocks

by One1 on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Excellent show. The band was amazing. Great violin player and the piano and keyboard players really added to the sound. The drumming reminded me of Meg White the way she banged on the drum kit. The bass player was heavy. Reminded me of the 50's style bass playing and the band was very eye appealing. Jack White really put a tight band together with this group.

Jack White rocks, worth checking out.

by OBlade on 2012-10-06Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Jack White's been on my list of artists to see for a while. I finally caught his second show in Toronto in support of Blunderbuss. He performed with the Buzzards all-male band, which was an ecclectic collection of like-minded musicians who seemed to genuinely enjoy rocking out and complemented Jack surprisingly well. The setlist was a bit Blunderbuss-heavy but I guess that's fair. Some good Raconteurs stuff, not enough White Stripes (but he did hit the classics), and a couple of completely unnecessary Dead Weather ones. Jack was on top of his game and worked in awesome teasers and solos. Looks like he hasn't changed much from his old White Stripes days but he plays a bit more cleanly, and a 6-man band offers better range than one drummer. Energy levels were high throughout the night, the sound was great. For a $60 ticket you get a 90 minute set of rock. It wasn't exceptional or the best concert I've been to, but it's good value and definitely worth checking out.

Best show I've ever been too. He was incredible and played songs from all his different bands (Dead Weather, White Stripes, etc) Amazingly talented musicians and all the ladies that played with him were incredibly awesome.

Jack White's Extremely loud and brief performance

by Superdoggy on 2012-10-02Radio City Music Hall - New York

Jack White obviously has forgotten that his fans have elevated him to where he is. The audience at Radio City Music Hall was a very enthusiastic and receptive one and he obviously did not appreciate that. He had zero in the way of stage personality and he may want to think about dropping the sarcastic attitude. The audience including myself who had driven 10 hours just to see him was very disappointed and confused over Jack skipping off without so much as a proper goodbye after 45 mins. Nobody could believe that was it! We all stayed around applauding and anticipating an encore which never came. I could not blame those who resorted to boos after a 30 minute cheering session to a no-show Jack. Terrible night indeed! Never mind that Sunday he added time...that had nothing to do with the audience on Saturday. Shame on you Jack!

    GREAT SHOW, CRAPPY THEATRE

by LNDSKPS on 2012-08-21WaMu Theater - Seattle

Jack White was fabulous and his all girl band was fab as well. The back up band was different and great. I would see all of them again. The general admission situation for the WAMU theatre in Seattle is not great though. The bleacher seats were way too far back and it left you with no choice but to crowd the stage ( I know some younger people love it, but we didn't). It was good to see Jack White and band up close but we would have much preferred seating that was reasonably close. Anyway, great show but will not return to the theatre again.

Great show! I went victoria to seattle for this and was not disappointed. See Jack whenever you can, best act, best value, best LP's out there. This show was over 1 1/2 hrs, packed with white stripes, solo, some raconteurs and dead weather. A great live act! 2nd time this year I have seen him, different shows, awesome guitar work! Just Do It!

Jack White was excellent, the WaMu Theatre was not

by Stephberg on 2012-08-16WaMu Theater - Seattle

I've seen two shows on this tour: the first in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and now this one at the WaMu Theatre in Seattle. A few years ago I went to the WaMu for Deck the Hall Ball and vowed I would never go back. The accousitcs are terrible and the concrete floor is uncomfortable (the parking isn't cheap either). I went back on my vow only because the JW show I saw in Vancouver was phenomenal and I couldn't pass up seeing him again. After my second experience at the venue I can tell you that the accousitcs are still sub par and the space still sucks. Jack White is an unrelenting showman. He played a slew of old material (mostly from the White Stripes catalogue), and launched into growling guitar solos, which sent the crowd (at least around me) into a jumping, dancing frenzy. A dirty rock vibe carried through the entire show that was totally fitting for a city with such a storied grunge music history. I have to say though that overall I enjoyed the Vancouver show more for a few reasons: he played more Blunderbuss material (and I can't get enough of that album), the sound quality was better, the magnetism between Jack and the members of his band seemed stronger (I don't know why), and I left feeling like I had just experienced a real artistic and sensory treat. It felt like it had been a privilege to be in that room. Maybe this was because the Vancouver show came months earlier when the tour was fresher? Who knows. (Hey, maybe it's just me!) The bottom line is: if you have the oportunity to see Jack White live take it. Even if he's playing in a suburban high school gym, or out of the back of a van down by the river. Don't even waste time thinking about it, just do it. Honestly.

    Fantastic rock fest, but...

by SuperSandor on 2012-06-28Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

fist of all, I would go again. and again. and again. Well all I can say is that Jack White and his band lived up to their reputation. The band looked fantastic (we had the all female arrangement this night), and performed with determination and energy. It was a great night of music, and JW commanded the band like a true leader. Very innovative playing, delivered with passion. It was a loud show, which doesn't really bother me since good earlplugs were invented, and since I'm a guitar player too. The mix, however, was substandard. It is a trend in mixing right now to fill the room with bass to really let the audience "feel" the show as well as hear it; or perhaps the trend is that good sound mixers are losing their hearing. The low end in the room overwhelmed the definition and mids of the overall mix to the point where many songs sounded muddy. The guitar cut through due to JW's razor sharp tone and volume; the vocals, however, where there and fairly strong, but lacked any subtelty and detail, as they were buried under a wall of bass. Too bad aobut that. This was a killer 5 star show, but became 4 stars because the sound mixer let us down. Promoter please take not. ps. I was in the second row. Imagine the folks on the balcony

Jack absolutely RIPPED it up! Killer all lady band, songs from early White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather, and his latest album, and little Jack dancing and twirling, knocking over cymbal stands and letting the crowd sing along! Hoooeeee, devil music at it's finest!

Excellent concert, this guy knows how to rock! He knows how to reach in to depths of your soul hang on and not let go! From the softest spots to the hardest. The entourage of extremely talented ladies really rounded out the sound and a very classy stage show.

    Jack White

by Banjogal on 2012-06-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I was disappointed that the Albama Shakes weren't opening for him as that was what was advertised. I did enjoy the opening band from Victoria but couldn't catch their name. In fact, the sound was terrible. Jack's band was very good as was he, but it was so loud I coulnd't understand a word he said. Also, people stood up for the entire time he played which was awful for me as I couldn't see much. So I also missed a lot of the show. It was a waste of my time to go really.

    Roxx The House

by JimmiesDad on 2012-06-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Its not a concert its an event! This was by far one of Jack Whites best performances. We had to sit in different sections and both had a great experience. This is a performer one could easily travel the tour with. I wish Jack all the best and hope to see again soon.

    Amazing show, sounded terrific!

by Kristiina on 2012-06-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

We saw the female band version of his tour and they were fantastic. Jack sounded great and loved that he did some White Stripes and Raconteurs at the end- definitely my favorite part!
