Let me first say that Jann's performance was outstanding, we loved her new material, relished in her old material and loved her humour. Her display of an issue that is close to her heart was just right in length and content, though I have to admit I've turned away from following her twitter as it's just too much. I do have a complaint that the change of venue, and resulting change of seating, resulted in a far lower quality of space and sound. Our tickets, main level, originally excellent, and quite expensive, at the QE were changed to far lower value tickets in the 2nd row of the dress circle, where sound was surprising poor. While the dress circle and balconies were packed, the orchestra pit has a great deal of empty seats, even Jan noticed as she beckoned the crowd to come down and fill those seats - something only those already in the orchestra pit had time to do. I thought a few times of moving down to the orchestra pit to take two of the many empty seats but was concerned if someone arrived late I would disturb my fellow seat mates by getting up and down.
Fabulous concert by Jann Arden. She was amazing her voice, her song, her humor, her stamina. Just incredible! I also loved the film shows and the lighting. I loved everything about it. Go Jan Arden. I will be donating to “Horse Shit”
Jann Arden never disappoints! It was so great to hear her live again after a 2 year hiatus!
1. Microphone died shortly after she started and it took them awhile to correct the issue. 2. The screen they had on stage was a lovely idea & it would have been nice if we could see what was on it. Because of its location on stage It was not visible to patrons on the right facing the stage seated in rows 13 and up, seats 1 - 5 due to the Speakers blocking it. 3. The staff located at the entrance where we sat, talked & laughed all the way through the performance until I got tired of it and went over to them at 9:45 and told them that I paid to hear Jann Arden Not them. So for 15 minutes they refrained from talking. But when she came on for an encore, the cleaning crew had gathered around the open door and were talking etc., making it difficult to enjoy the show. The Regent Casino really needs to instruct their employees to refrain from talking & laughing during the performance.
I really enjoyed the concert but could not see the screen from my seat. That was frustrating and I wish that the Regent had thought of that because the visuals could have also been shown on the wall in front of those who could not see the screen.
Jann Arden is well polished after entertaining for so many years. Her banter back and forth with her musicians shows that this family is a well-oiled machine, appreciated by all who sit in her audience. Don't retire, Jann! We need a few more years of your goodness and personal plight against horse exportation. XO
Jann is an absolute genuine and talented person. Her voice never changes, her humour and sharing of life experiences is real. It is an experience that made us sing along, laugh, cry and relate. I saw Jann in Victoria many years ago and this show was just as good. Thank you Jann for stopping by, you are loved!
Outstanding performance by an outstanding person. We enjoyed every minute that Jann was onstage. Our only criticism is the lack of masks among audience members and the refusal of the venue to request that they be worn. Other venues are still requesting them (MTC, Centennial Concert Hall) so no reason not to mandate for them to be worn. I can only assume that this is profit-driven.
Jann was amazing. She captured her audience with her quick wit, story telling and her amazing unique voice. She draws you into her world with the words of her songs and her voice. She is the type of person I could call my friend. I would definitely go to coffee with her and hang out. Keep pumping out those songs Jann.
Jann was her usual funny self & beautiful voice. However, the venue this time was very disappointing. It is advertised as “ no bad seats in the house” and this time, this was untrue. We sat on far right side ( Row 20, seats 67&68) and there was a huge long set of speakers blocking our view. Could not see some of the band & more disappointing, could not see the large screen at the back that was projecting pictures during some of her songs!!
Two hours of this very talented lady made for a wonderful evening. She played the hits plus some lesser known and cover tunes. A good variety of songs sung with her beautiful voice and played by her talented band. Add in her famous humour and it made for a terrific evening.
Jann was fabulous…she’s an amazingly talented singer / songwriter and just an overall wonderful person. Wish I had gone both nights!
It was a wonderful experience. The tickets were bought 2 years ago for my birthday and for it to land again near my birthday was a great surprise. I've wanted to see Jann for years, i have all her cds and books, love her humor, music and her humanity. It was a wonderful birthday night I shared with my daughter at a feel good concert. Love you Jann.
Nothing at all wrong with Jann's performance. I always enjoy her voice and her humour. However, Club Regent screwed up big time. We were there on Saturday for another show, and there were projection screens on either side of the stage. That show we saw and heard everything very well. Fast forward, two days, to Jann Arden's show. The setup had two huge speaker stacks flank both sides of the stage. Why? She doesn't really need that level of amplification (that setup would be more appropriate for a much larger venue). Speaking of amplification, the system gave out on her mid song. The band played on but her mic went dead. It took the venue more than ten minutes to fix it. Poor Jann, she had to recount a story to fill in the time, speaking as loud as she could with no mic. Further to these speaker stacks, anyone on the wings, up to seat 10 from the walls, had a completely obstructed view of the one view screen behind the band. This was a shame because the screen apparently had some nice supplemental views supporting her songs and her stories. This screen obstruction affected about 10% of all participants. Do better Club Regent.
Jann Arden can belt out her songs as well as ever! My view of the screen was blocked by a hanging speaker, which really ruined the visual impact of many videos for me. Her singing and band was terrific, though, and made up for the issues caused by the obstruction.
Jann was amazing as usual! I appreciate her stories and humour. The venue has made improvements to make visitors experience seamless. Jann handled the short time without power like the professional she is. Jann kept entertaining the crowd with stories without a microphone. Way to go Jann!
This was the 6th time attending Jann Arden's live concerts. Her voice is as melodic as it was the first time I saw her in concert 22 years ago. Even when her sound suddenly went mute, she was able to carry on using her great sense of humour to entertain the audience. I was afraid she would strain her voice when shexwas shouting so we could hear her. Her involvement with the horse rescue organization is admirable and the backgound video she used with a song connected to the treatment of horses really drove home the importance of caring for our friends, our animals. Her new songs were interesting, but I really enjoyed the oldies, specially Good Mother. All in all it was an evening not to miss, sit back and enjoy.
Outstanding! Amazing! Entertaining! A fantastic evening!
Well worth the two year wait! Jann was flawless. So lovely to listen to live music. It’s been a while! Fantastic venue as well. Easy parking and very comfortable seats.
