Jethro Tull with Very Special Guest Procol Harum

by Anonymous on 2010-06-20Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Procul Harem: The classics sounded like they should, vocals didn't disappoint to my surprise. They did some song I've never heard before, just before Whiter Shade; whick even my son realized was cooking, and finally got him interested. A real nice warm up act, but I wouldn't go back to see them on their own, not the best stuff for live, get some headphones and enjoy them at home. Jethro Tull: Pretty spry for a bunch of old guys. Much to me relief, they can still do it. A very special body of work, never to be even close to duplicated again; get out to see these guys while you still can, the future is looking pretty bleak musically., enjoy this while you still can. A nice blend of the familiar, mixed with some new stuff, or at least unfamiliar to me. My 12 year old just loved it, as did my friend's 16, and 19 year olds. I also noticed several hip looking young couples at the concert, obviosly very well infomred, truly hip kids. Complaint: About half an hour too short!

Jethro Tull - what a show

by Foxx on 2010-06-20Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

WOW - What else can I say. Ian Anderson is a multi-instrumentalist, one of a kind performer. He knows how to work a stage. A master of the flute! A show that I was so pleased to have seen.

Jethro Tull are not worth seeing any longer

by CatwomanToronto on 2010-06-20Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

While the Molson Ampitheatre is one of the best, and the instrumentals were good, the vocals were terrible and the vocals were what used to make this band great... Save your money and buy an old CD to listen to.

    Avoid Concerts at Caesar's Windsor

by Windsorite on 2010-06-20The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

I attended last evening's Jethro Tull concert at Caesar's Windsor in Windsor Ontario with a small group of friends. Over the past few years I have attended numerous concerts in the Windsor/Detroit area - a number of them at Caesar's Windsor. Of all of the venues I have attended, Caesar's Windsor is the one where you are most likely to encounter an obnoxious, over-served, loud or rude concert goer. For some reason the Casino is unable to appropriately deal with removing patrons who spoil the concert experience for others. This hasn't ever happened in my experience at the Palace, at DTE, Meadowbrook, or any other venue in the region. The concert was very good - fabulous musicians . . . Ian Anderson's voice is not what it once was - and it would have been an enjoyable concert - if Caesar's Windsor were able to appropriately manage the event. And this wasn't either the first, second or even the third time I have had this happen at Caesar's Windsor. My advice - Windsor/Detroit region has an excellent array of concert choices and some wonderful venues to see them in. Caesar's Windsor is not one of them - avoid it at all costs.

    Bands great, sound terrible!

by Punkin52 on 2010-06-20Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Really looked forward to seeing both bands-was wonderful to see them BUT very disappointed with acoustics at Molson Ampitheatre. We could not make out any spoken words and hard to hear vocals in spite of having good seats. Is there an "echo" factor under roof? Hope it's better for Santana! Would have liked to hear a few more "hits"from Tull as we had son and his fiance(in their mid 20's) with us and son knows hits best. He was happy for . Whiter Shade of Pale.

Enjoyed watching the concert in a smaller venue. Ian Anderson's flute playing is amazing to this day.

    Please not again

by Lowdownblues on 2010-06-20Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Ian and the band performed the newer tunes fine with all the raw power you would expect, but when it came to singing his 'standards', like Locomotive Breath, and Aqualung, he fizzled. Sad since these were the last 2 songs he performed, and delivered the final overall atmosphere of the concert. I left rather deflated......

    Flutopia

by Higster on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

It was a good concert. They played a lot of oldies to begin with, and Ian was quite active. He was quite the showman, like Mick Jagger holding a flute! They played predictable songs, but after 40 years that's what the crowd wanted. Good show!

Jethro Tull were in very good form.

by LivinginthePast on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Excellent performance. Good instrumental arrangements that were of the highest calibre. Ian Anderson was on his game and had an excellent stage performance.

Procal Harum Vocally Out Did Tull

by Halifaxcitadel on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Ian's voice has lost its lustre but the musicality of Tull is excellent. On the other hand, Gary Brooker has aged, but his voice seems timeless.

    Jethro Tull was amazing

by Jerryc on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Jethro Tull is actually the brother of Max Webster and Lynyrd Skynyrd - a little line I tell people who say "Yeah Jethro Tull, I like him" Procol Harum opened, an act well worth seeing in their own right. Jethro Tull put on a fantastic show! Ian Anderson is not only a very talented musician, but also a great entertainer. A very high energy performance.

    Hits and Misses

by Groucho on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Procol Harem played for their audience. They delivered on Conquistador, Salty Dog, Simple Sister and of course A Whiter Shade of Pale. Jethro Tull had another thought in mind. While Ian Anderson was in great form on the flute his voice has seen better days. Song selection was interesting - obscure tunes, new tunes but few old favourites. I realize the band probably gets bored rehashing songs like Thick as a Brick but even a seven minute rendition would have excited the crowd. Everyone left feeling it was an enjoyable evening but also that something was missing. Overall I rate it four stars but it was Procul Harem's performance that made the mark.

Still young to rock'n roll, but old to sing

by voccabird on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

First of all Procol Harum was a good choice for intro band. They have the sound, quality, rock and blues tones. We enjoyed a lot. Jethro Tull demonstrated how sophisticated their music and how refined their sound is. All songs in the set list was very well played, everybody contributed the performance with full confidence. Ian Anderson is a real concert performer, he is not a talented virtuose, however a real quality entertainer as well as intellectual. When I was watching him, I thought about Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger. Jagger is a great entertainer too, however he does not show any other qualities that Ian Anderson has. Unfortunately, Ian was not a good singer and I think he is losing his voice. He couldn't even try high pitch, that also negatively affected songs like Aqualung, Budapest, Locomotive Breath. And as a final note, he could add more songs from Crest of a Knave as well as from Thick as a Brick. It would be nice to listen to Teacher, Living in the Past. Overall it was a still quality performance and I had a great night.

    Jethro Tull pleases

by Tanklord on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Judging by the crowds reaction, they did not disappoint. For a bunch of sixty plus rockers, they perform better than many new bands today. Awesome.

    Tull still rocks the house!!!!

by freddi on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Friday's Jethro Tull with special guests Procol Harum was a truly exhilaring experience for concertgoers of all ages. Although the majority were around when the early work of both artists was originally released, those who weren't seemed equally enthralled by the great sound of 2 classic and eclectic rock legends. Ian Anderson's antics, leaping and running while showing off his unbelievable and complete mastery of the flute kept everyone's eyes glued to the stage. Procol Harum's renditions of their classics Conquistador, A Salty Dog and Whiter Shade of Pale nearly brought down the house and left the crowd wanting more.

    Tull was teriffic!

by Danko on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Not a moment of disappointment. They rocked the night away and still sound like they always have. Lots of flute and acoustic guitar. Ian Anderson was amazing as ever. Lead guitar incredible. A must see .
