Jethro Tull was as good as usual

by Misiek on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I was little disappointed because the song selection was rather for a smaller venue then Molson Amphitheater. The concert was little bit boring. Audience expected more dynamic performance. I saw them at Massey Hall and that concert was much more interested.

    most excellent!

by michellefromguelph on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Procol Harum and Jethro Tull were exceptional last night at the Molson Amphitheatre. May be one of their last gigs as their age creeps up and up. See them if you can!

    They can still rock

by fiscaljackhammer on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

After all these years, Ian Anderson can still rock just as hard as he ever could. This was a relief as i had heard he often plays acoustic sets now. This wouldn't have bothered, as i would have enjoyed it anyways, but there was a part of me that really wished that he would play some of that ingenius progressive rock that he has become famous for. Ian Anderson has definatly proved that he still has that amazing flute style, as he played numerous mind blowing flute solos, while jumping around the stage, and carrying on in general. You can tell that he is not as agile as he once was, and that his voice has gone a little bit, but that didnt bother me. The band behind him actually had two original members, which ws pretty cool. All in all, it was everything i had imagined and more.

    Legendary Performers Rock The Amphitheratre

by Otter1961 on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Tull was an amazing band playing an amazing set. If you haven't seen Tull yet, you should do yourself the favour. Procol Harum was well worth seeing and would have been worth going too on their own. Very impressive

    Good concert but disappointed!

by Curlykate on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Unfortunately Jethro Tull chose to focus on new music. That is not what the crowd came to see. It was a loyal crowd as I was and was was very appreciative of the concert itself however you could hear the disappointment in comments made after the show. There was so much music from the past that was not touched. Not an ounce of :"Thick as a Brick" not to mention many other pieces he could have performed. Our group left feeling unsatisfied. Songs about rabbits and Budapest should have been tossed. We wanted to hear the legendary Jethro Tull perform their best. That did not happen. A great Showman but sadly His voice has sadly not stood the test of time. Gary Brooker from Procol Harum did very well. His voice has helf up very well and was the highlight musically of the concert. I am happy I saw Jethro Tull but........sadly for that "but".... I am glad I saw the performance but would I recommend it or see it again. I'm not sure that I would.

    So So

by JTFan on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I was disappointed in last night's concert. While I don't take away the fact, that the members of Jethro Tull are very talented musicians, the sole purpose of me paying $80 per ticket, was to hear the old hits. We did hear "Aqualung", "Locomotive Breath", Songs from the Woods, but no "Thick as a Brick" and "Cross Eyed Mary" ???? Ian Anderson is an amazing performer, with his amazing vocals, flute playing, and his versatility on other instruments. I was also disappointed with the acoustics at the Ampitheatre. We were sitting at the back, (under the roof), but to the very extreme right of the stage, and could not understand what the performers were saying, and most of the songs kind of sounded the same. Procol Harum however, was awesome. Again, the acoustics weren't very good, but it was great to hear their old hits.

    They can still entertain but...

by schlumbo on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I have seen Jethro Tull four or five times through the years and have always enjoyed the musicianship and general presentation of the band. Ian Anderson seemed to have more physical stamina and animation than the last two shows I saw (within the last 5 years) It is too bad that his voice is so fragile but it seems to be more than the strength of the voice. The timing in his words is almost offset from the music. There is a pause in the last word of every sentence tham seems very odd. The selection was not my first group but I understand that he wants to do more than Aqualung and Thick as a Brick. Still there should have been a few more from that period. It was mostly good music but a bit more of the "standards" is called for, even when watching these fantastic players.

    The Supershow!

by Aqualung on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Jethro Tull and Procol Harum, can't ask for a better line up for a concert than that! Awesome bands, great music. Ian Anderson is hilarious, Gary Brooker's voice is still superb. The only thing that detracted from my enjoyment of the shoe was how obnoxiously loud the bass was. I'd go see either band 10 more times if I had the chance!

Where were all the hits ?

by narcman on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I thought that Jethro Tull were going to do more of their big hits and was left a little unsatisfied when the show was over . Where was cross eyed mary, thick as a brick , too old to rock and roll, skating away , teacher, bungle in the jungle , etc ?

Jethro Tull and Procol Harum....old school rocks!!

by lumpy on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I had seen both these bands several times before but that was over 35 years ago. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! neither act has lost a thing with age. Given the opportunity I would go again today.

    BASSically wrong

by UkieDuke on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

there way way too much bottom end (bass), we were middle of stadium and our chests were pounding and I could feel my pants legs moving with every hit of the drummers foot pedal... they were on for a good, respectable length of time but they could have played way more of their hits; didn't play Thick as a Brick, Bungle in the Jungle, Living in the Past, and others of course... He really should get a singing partner to help him with the high notes especially as the set worn on (him).... but the songs they did play, they sounded good and familiar... his theatrics at times created an off-beat sound with the music due to his emphasis on the words, particularly toward the end like he was straining for every note... Glad to see him... won't see him again

Bring a Pillow to Jethro Tull

by Powman on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Last night's Jethro Tull concert was a snoozefest. The type of material they chose might have worke better in a smaller venue. But Molson Amphitheater is a fairly large venue. They should have have selected more upbeat prog rock material, rather than the folk/classical songs they played. Things really started to get interesting when they played Aqualung at which point they said goodnight and finished the show. They mildly redeemed themselves with Locomotive Breath in the encore Procol Harum was even more boring.

    Toronto June 18

by jTull on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

What a show. Started off with the 'Nothing is Easy' and then an eclectic mix of songs. Ian's voice seemed better than I had hoped. The band played tight and the flute/guitar/keyboards interplay was just great. Too bad they only play for 90 minutes.

    Tull great as always

by tullfanmusic on 2010-06-19Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Fantastic show..lots of old favorites and stuff I have never seen live before such as "Songs from the Wood" . (I have seen them 9 times) Better than their last Molson Amp Show. Most highly recommended. Ian is aging and his voice has seen better days, but his musicianship, stage presence and charisma is incredible as always.

He does it again!!! This time at Foxwoods.

by AngusMacDhuie on 2010-06-15The MGM Grand at Foxwoods - Mashantucket

Yet another amazing performance by possibly the most talented bunch of musicians on the planet. No one else comes close to these chaps for raw talent. The show was over way too early. Keep on going, Ian. Can't wait for the next gig, wherever that may be. I travel from Calgary, Canada to any point in North America; 2 years ago to Denver (Red Rocks) and this time to Foxwoods, Connecticut. Anyone that hasn't been to a Jethro Tull concert has missed out. Go see them if you get the chance; you won't be dissapointed.
