  • $153 that i'll never get back

by JFloe on 2018-05-08Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I like Jimmy Carr, I've seen a lot of his stand up and panel shows that he hosts on TV. I like that he pushes the boundaries of the audience's comfort level with his humour. At home I have a very comfortable seat that can see me through far more than a 90 minute performance. At home, if I get interrupted by someone who needs to go the bathroom every 20 minutes, I can put the show on pause and not miss anything. At home I don't have a guy in a hat blocking my view of the show. At home I can see Jimmy's Face clearly on my screen. Such a pity that I had none of these conveniences at the Sony Centre. The seats were only good for about 40 minutes, after which everyone around me, including myself started moving around in their seats to try to find a more comfortable position. There was a guy in the middle of my row who kept getting up and down incessantly, no he didn't cut down on disturbances by going to the left one trip and to the right the other - each time he disrupted everyone to the right of him and we had to get up 6 times for his convenience. I have no idea why these restless people don't book end seats. There were no screens at the Sony Centre so Jimmy was just an ant on the stage and it was impossible to see his facial expressions, which to me are an important part of comedy. I am a bit disappointed with the seating layout at Sony Centre, the seats are immediately behind each other, unlike other venues where the seat behind is lined up in between the two in front so you can see through the gap even if there is a tall person in front of you, or someone who wears a hat indoors. Overall Jimmy's show was OK - it was mostly old material, except for the ad-libs when he interacted with the audience, still funny, but no belly laughs and he noticeably trimmed his material of any of his more offensive humour for the Toronto crowd. I certainly don't think we saw the best of Jimmy Carr that night and we certainly didn't experience the best venue. I don't think that there was any benefit to parting with hard earned money to see this performance live.

  • funniest man alive?

by crabbydude on 2018-05-08Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Jimmy Carr may very well be the funniest man alive. Yes, most of it is very non-politically correct, which adds to the humour. Half of the time we found ourselves saying "he didn't just say that, did he..." as we burst out in laughter. We saw him first at a small club years ago at the JFL in Montreal, he was equally funny but he now deserves and plays well at larger venues. He sold out two shows for good reason, he is the funniest man alive!

  • Laugh Out Loud Funny

It is important to know going in what kind of humour Jimmy Carr uses. Provided you are aware of the "vibe" of his routine, you will howl with laughter. Jimmy's comic timing and delivery are reasons why Jimmy is one of the funniest comics out there. His quick wit when handling hecklers and his ability to interact with audience members with spontaneous comic riffs is amazing. We had a great time at his show!

Jimmy Carr was so damn funny! Only a little uncomfortable sitting next to my dad laughing his face off at the dirty jokes. Seating at the Sony center isn't staggered well, didn't actually see much of Jimmy but he sounded good.

Jimmy puts on a good show. If you like his specials on television, you'll love him live. Easygoing manner and consistent humour throughout.

  • Jimmy Carr telling old jokes

by dozys62 on 2018-05-08Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I like Jimmy Carr. I think he is very funny, pushes the boundaries. I have watched him over the years on various shows in the UK. I have heard a number of jokes before and obviously the show is scripted-even the texts at the end. Personally, I think its time for somethiong new and fresh from him.

I bought tickets for my fiance for his birthday and we enjoyed the show every much. We had many laughs from the beginning and all the way to the end. If you are thinking about going, just go and see him!

  • Laughed through the entire show

by cathyd3355 on 2018-05-08Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best comedy shows I have seen. No opening act and he was on stage for nearly 2 hours. I have seen many comedy shows, but don't have laugh as much as at this show. Highly recommend his show to everyone. Hecklers tried to get the best of him, but they failed miserably. I would definitely go and see Jimmy Carr again.

So awesome. Laughing all the time. Witty. Engaging the audience. Jimmy Carr knows his audience.

Jimmy Carr was absolutely outstanding. If you get offended easily I wouldn't recommend going to see Jimmy Carr. If you don't get offended easily and enjoy crude humor then I would 100% recommend going and seeing Jimmy Carr live.

So many jokes were packed into a 90 minute show, and he integrated the audience in a thoughtful and hilarious way.
