JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:
Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”. Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

Had me rockin and spell bound through the whole show. Just had me. Meet & greet loved it! He is so personable and attentive. Worth every cent & more...
What can I say... Joe never disappoints! His skills are ridiculous and the band he had were so incredibly talented! I have never heard or seen a drum solo like this one.. inventive, soft, loud, crazy cool!! Joe was his usual cool self too... every single song played with the precision we have all come to expect!! He played so many great tunes from over the years. Two sets each about 1 hour with a 15 min break in the middle. He is as gracious a host as we were an audience!
A mind blowing experience! Joe never fails to impress with his mastery of the guitar. The sound was amazing. Great Band and visuals. Hurry back Joe!!! Hard Rock Vancouver is an awesome venue.
Great set list, great performers, and an unbeatable display of skills. Joe, Marco, Mike, and Brian really kicked butt out there. To top it all, I got to meet the band (thanks Dave, you rock).
I'll get it right out of the way and say the sound quality in there was amazing. Both the building and the band sounded unbelievable. 10/10 Show, every song was beautiful, amazing. Tough crowd full of old fat people, but Joe rocked it for us anyways. Had a great view. Next time I'm buying front row left hand side right infront of Joe so I can watch the master at work up close. GO SEE THIS TOUR. You want to see this setlist, trust me it's insane, the rest of the band is incredibly talented. The drum/keyboard solo's, backup guitar, bass were all world class. I could sit there for hours and hours watching these masters.
Truly one of the greatest guitarists ever. The band deserves a standing o too
Joe delivered a fantastic performance, it brought tears to my eyes the memories associated to those killer, classic riffs. Loved it!
Glad that I was able to see Satriani in such a small venue as there was no sound bounce which often happens in stadiums. We had 2nd row seats so we had a great view and oh man, can Satriani make a guitar make sounds you thought were impossible...it was obvious he was having a great time, especially during the encores when people were crushed up against the security fence..he was touching hands, smiling and waving....and this after an intense concert of almost 2 hours!!! His band was awesome too, especially the drummer who did the best drum solo I have heard in a long time...I would go to see him again on this tour!!!
Joe is unreal, you know how Eddy Van H does eruption? Joe slowed down to that level to play it, then he took it to his own speed,,, he did the same with some Clapton, and Hendrix unreal. The crowd was in awe for half the show. He is without a doubt the best in the world. Joe loves the fans and we love him back, he can really work a room. I have seen the Stones twice and many others and this was the best of my life. Such a natural high from the energy he fills the place with! At the end we all screamed and hollered waving our arms in the air until he came out and treated us with an amazing encore outtake version of surfing with the alien. The drummer was fantastic and did a solo that included symbol work I have never seen, theres a guy playing guitar and keyboards who is almost in the same class as Joe, they duelled back and forth at amazing speeds. Joe always the victor. The Bass guitarist was actually shredding a bass,,, he too was super skilled. I, like most of the others was standing waving arms in air screaming until my voice blew out smile emoticon It was unbelievable, if you ever get the chance,,, for 2 hours he went from song to song with almost zero interruption. At the end of songs he just couldn't stop and would keep shredding and shredding until finally stopping to grab a dif guitar and go hard again. He plays the guitar he wrote the song on, he must have hundreds and hundreds of guitars. At certain points he was playing with his face, smile emoticon It was totally amazing and 2 hours was over waaaay to soon.
The show was very good with excellent musicians all around. Joe is definitely one of the best in the world. He surrounds himself with very good fellow players also. Non stop playing for over 2 hrs and many amazing moments when he makes it look alot easier then we all know its not. Highly recomend his show with this same group of musicians to anyone. Very glad I went.
We bought the vip package and weren't disappointed! The pass got us in early and because of the small venue, we were 2nd row...standing was long though...but Joe was flawless!!! 3 hours of awesomeness!!! He is a master for a reason!
Joe Satriani is as close to a sure thing as you will get if you are a fan of technical guitar wizardry. A simply fantastic show that left most in the crowd pleasantly stunned by not only Satriani's incredibly talent but also that of his backing band, no doubt hand picked by Joe himself. They were all clearly having a great time playing which translated very nice to the great time the crowd was having. The Danforth music all was the perfect venue for this show. Santriani can fill any hall with sounds (and people for that matter) but the smaller more intimate settling for this show was awesome. If you have every listened to an Eddie Van Halen solo and wished it was longer ........ don't miss Joe Satriani the next time he is in town.
This was the 5th time I've seen Joe (including one Chickenfoot show), and the 3rd time I've purchased a meet & greet package to see him. First time I saw him he was opening for Deep Purple at Molson Amphitheatre. I've seen a lot of great guitarists, and I was floored by his performance. I've been going to his shows ever since. To call Joe a virtuoso of the guitar would be an understatement indeed. Truly one of the masters of the guitar, Joe put on a fantastic show. Joe has surrounded himself with excellent musicians, a great bass player, a great keyboardist who also plays guitar, and a drummer who did one of the best solos I've seen in a while. The meet and greet was great!!! It was well organized, and Joe Satriani is very down to earth. Although he is indeed a rock star, he doesn't have the attitude of some rock stars. Bottom line, this is a show to be seen. Highly recommend the meet & greet.
You can not imagine, I bought a VIP package and got a front row spot exactly in left part of the stage (in front of Joe), it was one of the best performance that I ever seen. Great combination of Joe's music from different records, 1986 to 2016, fantastic band and one of the best Joe's performances ever. The band played more than 24 songs and three solos on bass, drums and keyboards. Joe played 4 slow songs, you know playing slow songs in concerts is much harder than fast songs, because the musician should be completely in the mood and Jeo just did it perfectly. Don't miss it, incredible concert, you won't get the chance of see the same live rock music in the future.
Really got my money's worth! Basically Joe covered his entire catoloque with an intermission as well! Over 3 hours of guitar heaven. Well worth it.
Unbelievable show. Did the Meet & Greet component and ended up with second row floors right in front of Joe all night. The man truly is a guitar wizard and is (like his earlier album title) not of this earth. I don't know how many more superlatives one can use with him. If you haven't seen him do yourself a favour and check him out. His supporting band are very strong musicians as well. And the new material is just as dynamic as his older catalogue.
Joe is the master. I would go every time he comes.
Show was just amazing, even better than expected, would go again anytime.
Great artist in a great venue - 3rd time I've seen him live, and I can hardly wait until the next time!
