BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

John Edward Colley was born in Dallas, TX in 1948 and raised on a blend of Grand Ole Opry, roots rock and roll, and religious hymns. Colley began to perform in rock bands with high school classmate and friend Dan Seals -- the younger brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Crofts fame. After a few years playing together as a duo under the name England Dan & John Ford Coley, the pair signed a deal with A&M Records and relocated to Los Angeles in 1971. Following a few singles and a new deal with Atlantic Records, the group finally scored with the 1976 No. 2 hit ìIíd Really Love to See You Tonightî. Despite a successful five year period that saw the group notch five more Top 40 hits, they disbanded in 1980. While Coley switched his focus to acting, Seals pursued a successful country music career. Coley returned to music in the '90s and '00s to work with artists like Eddie Money, Ambrosia, and Vince Gill, and he contiunues to thrill fans with upbeat solo performances of his soft rock hits.
