About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Throughout his career, Mayer’s high profile romances have been fodder for both the tabloids and his songwriting.  Adding to speculation over his relationships, lead single “Paper Doll” from Paradise Valley is rumored to be about former flame Taylor Swift, who gave Mayer a piece of her mind in 2010 with her song “Dear John.” In a head-scratching move, the ever-sarcastic Mayer capitalized on one of the year’s biggest internet memes by enlisting the Prancercise lady (Joanna Rohrback) as the star of the official “Paper Doll” music video, keeping fans guessing as to the true meaning of the song.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

    Great night

by Fan on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

What unique show. John sounded incredible, he played a once in a lifetime set and I had a great time. I’ve seen him five times before but this time was so special and different because of his acoustic set.

    John Mayer Solo

by Jo on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I thought that the whole process went really smoothly. I was able to find parking across the street. Everything was very organized at the front entrance. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facility was well organized and very clean. The performance was very organic and I really enjoyed the intimacy of it. Buying the tickets online was very easy.

    Surreal

by Kk on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

John Mayer is awesome as always. It was my first time watching him live so it feels surreal for me. One thing I only didn’t like was when people started standing. I mean you can’t stop that, but we were in the ground level. So imagine, I’m bit short, I didn’t expect that people will stand in the whole entire concert. :( I still did stood the whole concert just to see a tiny tiny bit glimpse of him. So whenever I don’t see him, I just close my eyes and imagine him near and savor each note.

Best night ever. Staff were extremely accommodating, seats were a little close together on the floor. Appreciated have people going around selling food and drink so we didn’t have to wait in long lines. Music/sound was awesome, very pleased with this event!

    Amazing show

by Laura Flynn on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

John Mayer wowed us at his concert. He was so incredible. His voice sounds impeccable and he played the guitar so amazingly. He even played piano and guitar at the same time at one point in the show. Truly magical watching him and I feel like he had everyone under his spell. Everyone around us was so enthralled with his performance. It was the concert of a lifetime and we would love to see him again!

    Great acoustic experience

by Ianafin on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

John was amazing as always, but my seat was at the side and unfortunately I couldn't see him make those weird face expressions when playing a guitar. So if you are asking for a feedback, maybe the screens should be positioned in a way that all audience can see him, and not just those with more frontal seats.

    Incredibly Fantastic Show

by Sorgie on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

This was one of the best concerts I've experienced ever. I was particularly impressed with John's ability to play the guitar only and sound like an orchestra. Also, the diversity of the crowd in Toronto was incredibly delighted to see this.

by Cha on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Solo Your in Toronto. My first big concert! Also went by myself, so solo to solo! 11/10. John sounds exactly the same/better live. His musicality and skill with his instruments is astounding. So very talented. If you're thinking of going, go! You will not regret it.

    More screens

by Miss 1999 on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Our seats were off to the side of stage and very high up. I wish they would have had some side screens so we can see John Mayer. There were some people trying to sit in wrong seats in our row. We had to have an employee come over to assist. We missed the whole opening set while this had to be dealt with

    A great performance

by Tnt on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

I have seen JM 6 times and this was different in a very good way. He managed to deliver a unique experience where he was the only one on stage and pulled it off, I didn’t even miss the band and back up singers. He is so talented and managed the crowd in a very genuine way. A very special night!

by Kat on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

John Mayer saved my life - this is the seventh time I’ve seen him live and he gets better and better each time. This was a wonderful experience I was able to share with my mom. The stripped down version of him he shared this time around was mind blowing, what a talented, funny and overall cool dude.

    God mode

by Amber on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Seeing John Mayer is always a dream come true, but to see him solo is life changing! This tour was incredible even though most people had to pay an arm and leg because ticketmaster is greedy.

    Great show!!

by Karen on 2023-03-23Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Concert was fantastic!! Wishing JP Saxe played a little longer as he was a big part of us buying the tickets. All was great and no complaints at all about venue, song selection seating anything!
