Awesome show. John even personalized it with some jokes about our city.

  • Funny show but fell short

by Yqmcomedy on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 3 out of 5

Having to lock my phone in a bag along with my watch ensured I would never attend a show with those requirements. I purchased the tickets in the pre-sale and that condition was not declared upfront. Had I known I would have stayed home.

Love John Mulaney. He has always been a very funny and entertaining comedian. It is good to see his journey in life has allowed him to continue entertaining and that he is so open to sharing his experiences. If he can save even one person from addiction through his entertainment - all the better!

  • So much laughter on such a deep subject!

by KGF on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

John Mulaney is a story teller extraordinaire! He takes a very personal and challenging experience and opens up with humour and insight. Taking on this topic could not have been easy but the journey is both horrifying and hilarious. We are all lucky that the intervention worked and hope he is able to stay on a healthy road because we need his humour and genius!

  • A thank you of sorts

    by C on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

Okay, So I have admired this comedian since I was at the ripe age of 14. Watching SNL and memorizing every word to his specials on Netflix got me through some extremely difficult times. At the time of this show I was (and still going through currently) a extreme depressive episode. I had not travelled or left my room much for weeks. I constantly had people over or was around others, because I feared for my own safety when I was alone. I was determined to attend this event because I had booked it so far in advance I felt guilty cancelling last minute, also considering the fact I also bought these tickets for my best friends birthday. Regardless, I was and (still am) not so good place. However, this show made me so incredibly happy for the first time in so long. The opener was extremely charismatic and his set was amazing. During Mulaneys set I admired the amount of research he did with Moncton, as well as the extensive audience participation. It made the atmosphere more personal which I really enjoyed. All in all, the event was spectacular and made me feel a small morsel of joy while I was otherwise suffering in an endless depression loop. So John and Seaton, thank you, I am glad I stuck around to see this show. I am not going to be one of those people that go on and on about how this comedian "saved my life". However, he made mine a lot better by simply being in it. So thank you for helping me forget about all of the bad things happening around me, even if it was for only an hour or so. You make more of a difference in peoples lives than you think... - C

  • Disappointing

    by P. F. on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 2 out of 5

First of all, it took an incredibly long time to enter the venue because every guest was stopped and asked to put their mobile phones and smart watches in a lockable pouch until after the show. This was to prevent audio or video recording of the event. This was inconvenient, there was no advance notice, and the venue was unprepared for the extra time it took. Plus, this caused great stress to anyone with young children or elderly parents who had no way of knowing if anyone was trying to get hold of them. This was completely unreasonable. I have never seen this anywhere before. This caused safety concerns at the end of the show as escalators kept delivering people to the only available exit (there are others, but they were blocked by security), where they could pass through only a handful at a time. This was an accident waiting to happen. Secondly, John Mulaney is a very funny guy, but his entire show was dedicated to one topic: his rehab experience. I applaud what he has done to overcome addiction, but it's a bit much to hear about nothing else. Anyone who saw his last appearance on SNL already gets it and has heard some of the material.

  • Show was great, seats were horrible

by Gg on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 4 out of 5

John Mulaney was great, thé show was hilarious. But the floor seats were horrible. We were stuffed like sardines and the rows weren’t staggered. So I had no room for my arms, I had to sit a little crooked and I had to crane my neck to the side to be able to see. You should either get seats with armrests or leave a bit of space between the chairs. That way the show can be enjoyable.

  • Poor planning

by Selina on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 2 out of 5

We showed up to the event to many different lines and everyone confused on what to do it ended up being fine we got in found our seats and John mulaney was hilarious it was the leaving the event that was the downfall due to the fact that everyone had their phones locked up and had to get them unlocked before leaving there was a huge backup of people which was extremely dangerous as the people coming down the escalators soon had no space to go and they had to do an emergency stop of the escalators to prevent what would have been many injuries so next time things should be done very differently or the Avenir center should never be hosting events with that many people if they cannot safely leave

  • Why is bagging your phone a thing?

by JoeMac on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 4 out of 5

Comedian was good, found the bagging your phone thing tedious. Added alot of extra time to getting in/out of the venue

  • Honest and Funny

by Jesse on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

John went up there and layed it all out, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The honesty was refreshing, you can tell he's reflected on the past two years quite a bit, and he was hilarious doing it. 10/10 show, really hope he comes back to Moncton even though like... why would anyone come to Moncton lol

  • I Love John Mulaney:)

by Emma on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my very first live event. For it to be John Mulaney was an absolute dream come true, I’ve been a fan for a long time. Hearing his story was amazing, and hearing it in person as he spoke was truly something else. I have always been an anxious person, but I didn’t anticipate this event would make me anxious. I was actually having the time of my life, but my body’s reaction to being at a live event was not what I wanted. I was having a panic attack 75% of the time, unfortunately. I think it’s just my own body, nothing to do with anyone’s fault. I had to stand from my spot and keep myself moving a little bit so I made a few trips to the bathroom or just walked the hall. I could see John on the television outside, and could hear him through the curtain, so I didn’t miss anything. I’m so grateful. I ended up asking a very kind lady at the top of the stairs above my seat if I could stand there. She asked if I was having a panic attack, and when I said yes, she said, “I get those too, it’s okay; feel free to stand here.” It was a night that I would give so much to relive without the panic attack but I felt safe and comfortable in my mind. I’ll be searching for more events and working on being able to ground myself in social events like this so I can stay seated and fully enjoy. But here’s to John Mulaney, one of my favourite people in the world <3

  • John Mulaney

by WM on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 2 out of 5

He spent way!!! to much time talking about his addiction issues. Could have mentioned it and moved on but just kept talking about it. It got old real fast and was not funny!

  • Cried laughing

by Nathy on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

Hadn’t laughed that hard in a while! If he had a second show, would have bought tickets to that too! Can’t wait until his special comes out ( assuming here ) to watch it again!

  • Laughed so hard I cried!

Venue was great and John Mulaney was even funnier than I was expecting; would definitely see him on his next tour!!

  • Great show!!

by Bryan on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 4 out of 5

Really funny show. Gave it 4 stars due to running about 20 min too long. But that's me with 3 going kids at home and exhausted after a long week at work. My younger self would of probably given this 5 stars.

  • Great show - but slow to get in

by Brian Cormier on 2022-11-08Avenir Centre - MonctonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the show. Once you actually got in the building, it was smooth sailing. While I didn't like having my phone locked in a bag, I understood why. It would help having a clock displayed somewhere so you actually knew what time it was. There was very little staff outside helping people get to the correct entrance. Getting in was extremely slow. Otherwise, a great experience. Would suggest having more staff outside to ensure people were in the correct lineups.
