Open act was hilarious and John was amazing as always. Great night all around.
Even though we suspect this will be on Netflix, it was worth it to see live. Surprisingly moving show. Not just funny, but riveting story of his intervention. Loved the audience interaction, wasn't expecting that. Mr Mulaney is very good company and we wish him all the best. We weren't familiar with Seaton Smith and were pleasantly surprised. Warm and engaging.
As great a show as you always see him perform. He was exactly as I hoped for live as I've seen in his specials. His opener, Seaton Smith was great too.
John mulaney was funny and honest about his addiction recovery. Great story teller with an interesting life. Will definitely see him live again.
This show was absolute hilarity from the opening act till the time John walked off the stage. I literally never stopped laughing and John Mulaney is just the best ever! I am so glad he came to Edmonton but I would travel to see him again.
John Mulaney has been my favourite comedian for years now and Iām so grateful I got to see him live. He delivered a fantastic performance as always but when you to take his already stellar comedy and mix that with this new raw vulnerability, weāll letās just say John Mulaney really outdoes himself.
Loved the performance, the seats were very close together, not roomy enough imo.
It was truly an amazing experience to see John Mulaney in person! My first introduction to stand up comedy was John Mulaneys Salt & Pepper Diner bit, and I have been hooked ever since. When Mulaney took the stage my jaw dropped and it stayed there for the rest of his act. Mulaney keeps his same signature delivery on his jokes just with a little less of the more chaotic physical elements (gee, I wonder why). The comedy was perfectly presented and I was entertained from beginning to end. We were lucky enough to get floor seats, and it was crazy being that close! Cheeks were aching and stomachs were hurting by the end of this show! The openers for the show were amazing as well, so it just ended up being a laugh riot all evening. I am very much hoping I can afford to go again!
Absolutely adored the show. My husband & I laughed until we cried. I appreciated how real and raw John was. I love all of his shows & Iāve watched them all several times, & I really hoped that this show wouldnāt disappoint, and it didnāt! We loved it! Iāve recommended it to everyone! I canāt wait until I can watch it on repeat!
I love John Mulaney. Great seeing him live, but a bit disappointing that a fair bit of his material dealing with mental health has been used before. He looked a bit disheveled too, like tour has been tough and of course his drug battle was enormous. I left happy to have seen him but hoping he stays sober going forward.
Had a great time, this was the first comedy show Iāve ever seen live and I couldnāt not stop laughing.
The overall experience was great. I know some people will be annoyed that phones were locked, but they were swift in getting them unlocked on the way out, and itās completely understandable why such a measure had to be taken. In terms of the actual comedy I though Mulaney was witty, crafty and engaging in his jokes. Some landed better than others and he was definitely more engaging in the audience with what some might feel is less tight knit material. Maybe a little less explosive in his movements and acts, but I mean common. Heās sober and older, what did you expect? I felt his material was raw, interesting and of course, most importantly, funny. Getting out was a bit of a hassle, but if youāre not open to the idea that you might be paying for parking and getting home might take you a little while longer, I donāt know what world you live in. Overall, Iād give the experience 4.5 if I could. There were only a few times where I felt the experience could be improved. Mulaney has put a very little spin on his style that isnāt necessarily better or worse it just simply is. But at the heart of it, his comedy feels much the same. Heās still very funny and I would recommend him to most anyone.
Perfomers were great but one major complaint is how the Yonder bags are used especially in an arena that size. You should implement a time when people are in their seats well before they turn off the lights. People came late searching for seats and normally used the light on their phones to see, but with the phone in the bags the ushers can only do so much. It was incredibly disruptive for those who arrived early enough to enjoy the opening acts but instead have to focus on those getting in/out of the aisle.
First time going to a comedy event in a large venue. Sat in some decent seats. I wouldnāt attend a comedy event again in such a large venue. We found ourselves watching the big screens rather than John himself on the stage. Johns act was stellar and entertaining. Would go to see him again if the venue was smaller.
John Mulaney is a comedy genius. I Can't wait to see him again. Worth every penny. Thanks for the much need laughs š
I loved this show. The openers were great and John was hilariously relevant. The bit about the Motts was super funny as I always have thought it so strange how loyal Calgarians are to their beloved Caesars. Truly an acquired taste I guess. I always will take the opportunity to see John Mulaney.
The show was fantastic. John Mulaney is always so funny. His opening acts nailed it. It was a little odd having to put your phone in a sealed bag; but overall, the experience was not inconvenient, and went relatively quickly. I was glad, even though my phone was in a bag, that I was able to keep it on my person.
Loved it, great show, nothing but good times for real
Amazing show- we were so excited to see one of our favourite comedians in person and John Mulaney did not disappoint. Weāre so glad heās back and healthy and still amazingly on point and funny. Many times I was laughing so hard there were tears streaming down my face. My soul needed that! The only reason I would not give 5 stars is that the seats were crippling and uncomfortable. They have no give and and you have to sit straight up. They look new - but come on saddledome!!!! They were immediately noticeably strange and uncomfortable from the moment we got there. Iām 5ā9ā and had knees pressed into the seat in front and my poor husband had to suffer at 6ā2ā. I was amazed. Our seatsā location was very good - section 120 - but their comfort for 2-3 hours left a lot to be desired.
