    Comedy in an Arena

by Matt on 2022-10-19Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Perfomers were great but one major complaint is how the Yonder bags are used especially in an arena that size. You should implement a time when people are in their seats well before they turn off the lights. People came late searching for seats and normally used the light on their phones to see, but with the phone in the bags the ushers can only do so much. It was incredibly disruptive for those who arrived early enough to enjoy the opening acts but instead have to focus on those getting in/out of the aisle.

3.5 stars. John Mulaney at the ScotiaBank Saddle dome

    by ARK52 on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

First time going to a comedy event in a large venue. Sat in some decent seats. I wouldn’t attend a comedy event again in such a large venue. We found ourselves watching the big screens rather than John himself on the stage. Johns act was stellar and entertaining. Would go to see him again if the venue was smaller.

    Amazing!

by Denise on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I loved this show. The openers were great and John was hilariously relevant. The bit about the Motts was super funny as I always have thought it so strange how loyal Calgarians are to their beloved Caesars. Truly an acquired taste I guess. I always will take the opportunity to see John Mulaney.

    so hilarious!

by bryguyyyc on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The show was fantastic. John Mulaney is always so funny. His opening acts nailed it. It was a little odd having to put your phone in a sealed bag; but overall, the experience was not inconvenient, and went relatively quickly. I was glad, even though my phone was in a bag, that I was able to keep it on my person.

    Soul filling!

by Kristi on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Amazing show- we were so excited to see one of our favourite comedians in person and John Mulaney did not disappoint. We’re so glad he’s back and healthy and still amazingly on point and funny. Many times I was laughing so hard there were tears streaming down my face. My soul needed that! The only reason I would not give 5 stars is that the seats were crippling and uncomfortable. They have no give and and you have to sit straight up. They look new - but come on saddledome!!!! They were immediately noticeably strange and uncomfortable from the moment we got there. I’m 5’9” and had knees pressed into the seat in front and my poor husband had to suffer at 6’2”. I was amazed. Our seats’ location was very good - section 120 - but their comfort for 2-3 hours left a lot to be desired.

    Thankful for rehab

by Kearfree on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I’m happy that rehab worked because John Mulaney is my favourite comedian/addict. Worth every penny and then some. Unlike his intervention, the show started on time. The openers were good, and there were no lulls in between. Overall, an efficient event.

A bit slow and lacking content but still florets funny

by RM on 2022-10-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

First act the guy mumbled and our whole group agreed not only could we not hear him, what we did hear was mediocre. Second act was great! Funny and good at ‘reading the room’! John spent too much time on crochet lady (seemed like a planted guest and it was uninteresting material). His rehab material was good, wish he had other topics as he is truly funny but needs to keep the pace a little faster even if it’s not his ‘cocaine speed’ like he joked about. Getting out of event was unorganized with unlocking our phones… not enough people helping , inefficient to be in line 10-15 min to exit.

    Phone policy dampened evening

    by Jk12345 on 2022-10-17SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

Great to see, warmup comedians were both excellent. John was very funny, a bit darker than normal but still very funny. A few recycled jokes from his many late night interviews. But lots of new stuff and some fun crowd interactions. Phones being locked up in a bag for the night was annoying, made the night longer than it should have been (waiting to enter and waiting to leave) and left parents with younger kids unable to be reached easily.

    Saskatoon performance

by Pat on 2022-10-17SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

John was very good. The first lead-in comedian was really bad. Hard to understand and his language was really bad. You don’t have to use a four letter word to be funny. He should be dropped from the performance. The second stand-in was mediocre.

    Laughed thoroughly

by Amber on 2022-10-17Canada Life Centre - Winnipeg

From his openers were fantastic, and he was very good too! Darker comedy than his previous tours, but as he will tell you, he has changed and the world has changed, and he wouldn’t be sincere if his comedy didn’t reflect that.

    Great night of comedy

    by H on 2022-10-16SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

If you ever have the chance to this man live, do so. He is so much fun! I laughed until my face hurt. I love how he is able to tell stories and laugh at himself and have the audience feel included in his shows.

    He’s still funny!

by E and E Bailey on 2022-10-16SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

We have watched John’s specials on Netflix and love his dry sense of humour. However each time you watch a comedian, it’s like rolling the dice - will he still be funny? Yep! John is still very funny. His story now has the depth and complexity of his journey to sobriety that only added to our enjoyment. We laughed, we cried, he became a part of us.
