    Yes, Yes and Yes Again

by tardis54 on 2010-04-06The Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

I have to admit, when I first heard that it was going to be just Jon and a guitar I was skeptical. But after only 1 minute on stage I knew we were in in for something special. The first thing I noticed was how good his voice seemed. It was clear, steady and strong. His unplugged interpretations of Yes numbers were eyeopenning and refreshing, and his selection of his solo material, even though it seemed too limited, was heartwarming and pleasant. What shone through most, though, was his sense of humour and fun. Being in The Studio leant itself to a warm, intimate surrounding fully embraced by the artist. Even the length of the show seemed just right. There is no doubt that Mr. Anderson has still more to offer, musically. I certainly hope so.

    YES!that was a great concert

by tdllil on 2010-04-05The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

I have been a YES fan since seeing them open for Iron Butterfly in 1968 & have been to every tour they have done. This was a great concert experience to listen to Jon's tales of the road & the early years plus his wonderful voice accompanied by guitar,I loved the show & would go again. The Music Hall was a lovely intimate venue for such a show.

    Mediocre at Best...

by Zott on 2010-04-04The Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

There's no question that Jon Anderson still has most if not all of the voice that made him such a distinctive and critical element of the Yes sound. But sadly, the voice doesn't fare as well on its own, without the lush and orchestral instrumentation that is also such a key part of the sound. This was an "okay" concert...saved in no small part by the several reaches back into the Yes catalogue of staples...Starship Trooper, And You and I, Seen All Good People, even Roundabout. But Jon's limited musicianship gave the entire performance a sameness, bordering on monotony. I couldn't help wondering what this show would have been like with even two or three solid musuicians backing him. His guitar chops made most songs sound like ukelele sing-alongs. One song on piano showed more promise, and left me wanting to hear more keys. It was a nice intimate show, but I couldn''t help doing the math...500 adoring fans at $75...some backing musicians would have been a stellar investment.

    Jon Anderson - fantastic show

by Hitman57 on 2010-04-04The Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

Saw Jon Anderson at The Studio in Hamilton last night. The place was sold out, 400 people. Jon played for 1 hour 30 minutes and did 2 songs for an encore. He took the stage to a standing ovation. He played a variety of Yes and solo material on acoustic guitar and also played piano. His voice is as good as ever. It was his Wedding Anniversary yesterday. He told some great stories between songs. A very humble man, supremely talented, with a voice to die for. A great show, please come back again soon.

Jon Anderson - Sharing His Passion

by Eskendereya on 2010-04-04The Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

Positive Energy! - Jon Anderson - musician and humanist. The Hamilton concert last night was truly memorable on many levels. Mr. Anderson's uplifting songs spoke about the sunny side of the human condition. His voice was both angelic and pure. His conversations with the audience were appreciated, seemingly causual, natural, sometimes playful and very humble. The connection with the audience was superb. He spoke with great gratitude about his past health challenges - the support and care he received from family, friends, and medical community. He spoke affectionately about his wife, Janie and with smiling eyes shared that today was in fact their anniversary. He played most of his greatest hits and then some. With only a guitar, sometimes switching to a cute Sitar, one appreciated the purity of the lyrics. At times, one could not help but borrow an echo of a drum or electric guitar from memory of a familar song. Jon taught us that music is a powerful force. Its "vibrational energy" by definition cannot be destroyed only transferred. It can affect the mental and physical world. Music is love, power, and knowledge - God.

    Forever Jon!

by 40YearFan on 2010-04-02The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

Fantastic show! Great cross section of classic Yes, Vangelis, & Jon's solo career spanning over 40 years. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great sound, great musician. Crowd was engaged in many songs ans stories - from having an unknown Joe Cocker to finding a box full of XL underpants on the road. Jon always communicates well with his fans. Hope to see Jon gain several more times as a solo musician or with any of his musical endeavors. Stay Healthy! Highly recommended! Hope it is released on DVD or CD.

    We Loved it!

by Anonymous on 2010-04-01The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

Being big Yes fans, it was great to see and hear Jon in this initmate and personal setting. He sounded amazing, such a distinctive voice, extremely personable, he really connected with the audience. A nice mix of Yes, solo work, collaborations, from old and new. One of the best concerts I've seen in a long time.

The gift that just keeps on giving

by BruceB on 2010-04-01The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

Last nights performance by Jon was absolutely outstanding. Considering the uphill battle he endured over the last couple years, he is back and better than ever. We are looking forward to many, many more performances Jon. You truly are a gift.

    Terrible show

by yesfan49 on 2010-04-01The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

I rarely write a review but i found this show to be terrible. I walked out before the intermission. The vocals were good but the guitar playing was terrible. His versions of yes songs were poorly played. There should have been some publicity saying he was on his own with no band. He seemed to be giggling even on some songs. I felt my money was poorly spent. I have seen hundreds of concerts and this is the first time i have ever walked out. There were some fans cheering and whistling but i am sure they were high and would have cheered for anything. I don't know how any Yes fan could have appreciated this. I feel badly for Jon Anderson's being replaced by the other members of Yes. I think he got a bad deal. I do feel he would be better off forming a new band and playing Yes songs properly. David Lee Roth did this. When i saw his young bad a few years ago in the USA i felt they put on a great show playing the Van Halen songs. Sorry Jon but that is how i felt last night.

    Greatly disappointed!!

by babybink on 2009-11-09Century Casino - Edmonton

Though Jon has an amazing voice, The concert began at 8:00pm and was finished at 9:00pm. I came in from out of Town, booked hotel suite, went out for dinner to be pumped for the shortest concert ever. Seen YES in Toronto in 1986??and this was totally not what I expected.Even Century casino put a damper on the night by not playing tunes you could HEAR before the short performances that we watched.

    Jon Anderson loves us

by Shirlee on 2009-11-08Century Casino - Edmonton

It was a wonder Jon Anderson was there at all after spending two days in hospital most performers would have cancelled. I believe he is so brave and gives us so much. Although a short concert it was wonderful to see him. I hope he gets well soon. And please... if you go to see him just realize he is giving his very best and always will.

    Supergreat artist

by Yesfan on 2009-11-08Century Casino - Edmonton

Unfortunately Jon did not feel well and the concert was shorter than we expected. But we were lucky that he did not cancel it. He is a man with a big heart.

    Nice but too short

by ilya on 2009-11-08Century Casino - Edmonton

It was a real pleasure to see Jon Anderson. I could only dream of it after so many years of listening to the Yes-music. The songs were all unforgettable classics. However, Jon didn't feel very well and performed for only about an hour or even less. Which is a pity. Anyways, I would recommend to go and see him, while he is still around. There is some sort of aura around him. Obviously, this man is a living legend.
