About

Joshua Radin grew up listening to classic Motown hits of the ‘60s, The Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Cat Stevens, influences which were to play a big part in his future career. He studied art at Northwestern University before moving to New York, buying a guitar and teaching himself how to play it and write songs.

His big break come in 2004 when he presented a copy of his very first song “Winter” to a TV producer by the name of Zach Braff with whom he eventually became close friends. He was so impressed he used it as a soundtrack on a scene in the comedy TV series Scrubs in 2004. After this exposure, demand grew for his work and soon his compositions were featuring in hit TV shows such as Brothers and Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill and American Idol. In total he has written more than 75 songs which have been featured on TV.

He relocated to Los Angeles, signed with Columbia Records and released his first album We Were Here in 2006. It was received enthusiastically by fans and music critics alike receiving a four-star Rolling Stone review and achieving No. 1 position on iTunes Folk Album Chart. His second album Simple Times was released in 2008 under the Mom & Pop label and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. His most successful single from the album “I'd Rather Be With You” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. He released his third album The Rock and The Tide in October 2010 and achieved similar levels of chart and critical success, with it reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Independent Chart. His most recent album Underwater was released in 2012.

Radin has played with many musical greats both during his extensive touring career as well as on his popular albums. Guest performers have included Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos, Gary Jules, Belmont Tench, Jim Keltner, Johnny Flagher, Jason Borger, Victor Indrizzo, Lenny Castro, Maria Taylor and Patty Griffin among others. He has also written soundtracks for hit movies including The Nanny Diaries, Catch and Release, Dakota Sky and The Last Kiss. He is in demand for personal appearances on TV shows and, most famously, after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was asked to perform at her wedding.

    Joshau Radin and Fine Frenzy.

by Freddyboy on 2012-11-08The Danforth - Toronto

First time ever I went to see Joshau Radin. It was great and I'm very glad I went. Just want to say thanks to Joshau for introducing new talent to the music world. Madi was very good as was a fine frenzy. I think Fine frenzy is fantastic, great voice and somewhat sexy in a wierd way. I think if I were her I would cut out the wierd stuff in the first part of her act until she gets a little more well known. Some people didnt seem to lets say cozy into it. Her second portion when she said "she is going to take us to a better place" was great. Great voice and very dramatic. I guess she was taught that by her mom and dad. LOL. Cheer up Joshau its a wonderful world. Enjoy it.

    Joshua Radin is just amazing!

by BlueEyes15 on 2012-11-05The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Joshua Radin never ceases to put on a great show! This is the second time I've seen him and am absolutely blown away by his talent. He's great at interacting with the audience and tells stories about his songs. This intimate venue is perfect for a show like this.

Joshua Radin & A Fine Frenzy - amazing show!

by RadinFan on 2012-11-03The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

This was Joshua's first Winnipeg performance, and he was worth the wait! He's an incredible performer, and we would have sat there all night listening to him play. The opening acts were also excellent, making this night worth well beyond the ticket price!

    Amazing venue

by Xtinagirlwonder on 2012-10-30McDougall United Church - Edmonton

While I enjoyed AFF, II was disappointed that AFF only played 2 songs that weren't from the new album. Joshua Radin was very engaging and I would go see him again any time!

    Joshua Radin - absolutely amazing!!

by Anonymous on 2012-10-28The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

Incredible concert Lucy Schwartz started and was such a delight! I bought her two CD's shortly after her peformance. Fine Frenzy continued the wonderful night of music and ended with a beautiful rendition of "Almost Lover". I have downloaded and placed this song on repeat endlessly since. Finally Joshua Radin. What a performer! Chill, incredible voice and unplugged. Took audience requests, led the band through the audience and offered a meet and greet. I loved him before and love him more now. Intimate atmosphere and talented band.

A great evening with Joshua Radin

by Anonymous on 2012-10-26The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

I loved the first act (there were three) and Joshua Radin. The music was true to what I've heard on his albums and his skill and passion are obvious and evident. Great stage presence. Zero awkwardness. A great show. I'm less enthusiastic about "A Fine Frenzy". I would not see them again unless they were opening for someone I really wanted to see. I was waiting for them to please just get off the stage and make room for Josh and his band.

Joshua Radin was great! He shined with a full band and also playing acoustically. A fine frenzy was good but not exactly what her recording sound shows off of her voice. The opening band, lucy shwarz, sounded loads better than a fine frenzy did. Go just for Joshua's good looks and his cover of bob dylan song. So worth it!

    Joshua Radin even better LIVE!

by ummars32 on 2012-10-25The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

I have one word to describe this concert: AMAZING. I could have done without a Fine Frenzy (my least favourite act of the night), but Lucy Schwartz was very enjoyable and Joshua Radin blew my socks of. He has a wonderful voice and sounds even better live than on his albums. He brought real energy to the stage and everyone in the audience clearly enjoyed themselves. His back-up band members were also incredible. It is clear that they are all strong and well versed musicians. Overall, a wonderful concert... I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen Joshua live to do so immediately!!

    Well...what's with the sound?

by Jam13 on 2012-10-24Knox United Church (Calgary) - Calgary

Sorry, guys, although the entertainment was fab the sound crew didn't iron out the kinks before Joshua came on stage. Too bad....would have, should have, could have been a whole lot better.

    Love Joshua Radin!

by Anonymous on 2012-10-23Knox United Church (Calgary) - Calgary

Joshua Radin put on an intimate, fun show. I have been wanting to see him for awhile and I only wish he performed longer! I felt that A Fine Frenzy's set was too long. She didn't bring as much energy to the show and I found that those around me were losing interest. Lucy Schwartz was great! I am going to look on iTunes for more of her music!

LOVE his music, still a disappointing evening

by fcold on 2012-10-23Knox United Church - Calgary

Joshua was great - as usual. He has a great sound and I looked forward to this show for months. For the rest of the evening... Let's try to say it wasn't punishment, but the opening bands played for way too long. The last time he was in Calgary the opening bands were great. Check out his opening bands this tour before you go, just to be sure it will be worth standing in the cold and sitting for a long time on a hard bench. Joshua should just tour on his own and play for a little longer. I'd pay the same or more to see that.

As always, Joshua Radin was funny, adorable and above all amazing! He has such a great voice and fantastic energy! I could have done without the opening act of a Fine Frenzy though. they are the only reason I didn't give the show 5 out of 5!

by moin on 2012-10-22McDougall United Church - Edmonton

We drove through the first snowstorm of the season from Saskatoon after making a last minute plan to see Joshua .we were so very pleased to spend an evening in his and his bands company. Even a "stone cold sober" crowd was able to relax and enjoy this great wordsmith and talented band.lucy schwartz was such a great touch.really enjoyed her and especially the duets with j. Can't wait to get a chance again .will spread the word.
