About

JULY TALK IN CONCERT:

Canadian indie outfit July Talk is quickly rising the ranks with their blues-meets-pop sound and the engaging vocal interplay of dual lead singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay. Dreimanis' husky growl is the perfect counterpoint to Fay's demure purr, and the duo play up the he-said-she-said drama with tongue-in-cheek lyrical bickering and amicable play-fighting on stage. Whether they're sending each other up on "Paper Girl" or rocking hard on "Summer Dress", the dynamic pair are the perfect front to the band's potent blend of indie, pop, and good old fashioned rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

July Talk formed in Toronto in 2012 after smoky-voiced musician Peter Dreimanis overheard the angelic Leah Fay singing in a bar. She instantly became his muse, and together they assembled a band that complemented their strikingly different singing styles. July Talk released their self-titled debut album that same year, impressing critics with their robust blues-inspired sound and the playful vocal exchange of Dreimanis and Fay. In 2013 the band toured with big-name acts like Weezer and Tegan and Sara, wowing audiences with their vibrant energy and showmanship. Additional performances at festivals like Rock the Park London and the Toronto Urban Roots Festival helped cement their reputation as a must-see live act, setting big expectations for their sophomore album and accompanying tour.

Good show overall but you couldn’t hear the lyrics for July Talk and that was disappointing.

    Great show and venue

by Eddie on 2022-05-08Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Went with my girlfriend and had an amazing time. Especially loved how the band and the venue staff handled the medical emergency part way through the show. To avoid the rush of leaving we stopped by the restaurant in the casino and gambled a bit before getting a ride home. Overall great experience.

Such an amazing show! It’s been years since I’ve been to a concert and I’m so glad my post-pandemic concert was July Talk! I’ve never seen them before but I will 100% be buying tickets next time they’re in YEG!

Fun concert, lots of energy the sound seemed slumpy at times, not usual for this venue all the popular songs were sang most fans danced to them Flash! Flash! Flash! What is with those lights? I was near migraine from the flashing lights. Sunglasses will be in order next time great to be out after being locked in dress code didn't know what to wear after being in for so long was so awesome to feel alive!

    Great Live Show!

by TT on 2022-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

July Talk is great on the radio, and even better live! Not all musicians can do both, but these guys sure did. The sound balance was awesome, so you could hear all the different instruments well, and the singing was perfect and clear. They've got a great energy, and obviously enjoy what they do. Would see them again in a heartbeat!

    Great Show!

by Welke on 2022-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

July Talk SLAYED it on stage, as always. Another high energy show from a band who knows how to perform and genuinely seems to love it. Peter especially really seemed to love being back in Edmonton. A surprise gem was Cadence Weapon. It was really nice to have an opener from Edmonton. Hung out by the stage doors and chatted with Danny and Josh for a bit after. They were kind enough to sign some photos for me and my son, and even brought them inside to get the rest of the band to sign them too. As if their amazing music and stage presence wasn't enough, July Talk is always so kind to their fans.

    High Energy

by LJ on 2022-05-02Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

The performance was continual high energy from start to finish. The audience was super friendly, everyone has been waiting for this for so long! The venue was huge, much larger than I expected.

    Great band and show

by CJ on 2022-05-02Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

July Talk was excellent in terms of music and performance. Knocked it out of the park. Some minor issues with sound quality in around the middle of the show when guitar volume got so loud that you could barely hear the vocals. After a short break, it seemed to have been resolved as sound was better again. Also, GA means standing the whole time and we both had sore backs by the end. Prefer assigned seating.

    Seating option

I enjoyed the show but standing is considered to much for people who have trouble with Standing as far as knee surgery to arthritis.

by T-Dub on 2022-05-01Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I am already in love with his band so maybe slightly biased but they were ridiculously good!!! They even pause the concert at one point because they saw someone in the audience who was struggling and needed medical attention. Just amazing people, amazing talent and amazing vibes!!!

July Talk at the Grey Eagle

by T Slice on 2022-05-01Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Smoky and hard to see the stage. July Talk were incredible as always. Personal and engaging. The music was fantastic. But the venue was not ideal. Very difficult to see the stage and cigarette smoke wafts in from the casino. There was a medical emergency during the show and July Talk handled it very well. They stopped the show temporarily and then resumed when the afflicted was removed by EMS.

    Awesome!

by Hebe on 2022-05-01Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

July Talk put on an Awesome high energy show! The came off as nothing short of sincere from comments of being so excited to be back in Calgary & Alberta. To stopping the show when someone in the audience passed out! They immediately stopped, mid song & had security dart out into the crowd after them. EMS were immediately called while Peter & Leah kept the crowd calm & quiet. The person eventually was taken out of the venue. The concert started back with the high intense energy, as if they never stopped the show! I will go see this band again & you will be lucky if you get a chance to see them live!

    July Talk With Boy Golden

by KingCourtesy420 on 2022-05-01Coors Event Centre (formerly known as O'Brians Event Centre) - Saskatoon

Okay so lets start we arrived and hour and a half early thinking show started at 7 not doors open at 7 kinda a bummer but whatever Got to see July Talk outside the venue before the show briefly which was awesome. I dont think they know how truly popular they are as they seemed shocked that the fans knew wvery lyric etc! Boy Golden what a pleasant surprise never heard of them became fans! Now for July Talk lets just say it was one of the best shows ive seen ever the Singers engaged the crowd so well and put on one hell of a performance Peters voice is so awesome live sounded straight from the albulm both Peter amd Leah were shows all on their own watching them perform and together it was a masterpiece my only issue is when Leah got quiet the mic guy didnt turn her up so it got hard to hear her a little but they definitely made the entire show work for them 20/10 will see them again 100%
